How to Fly with an Electric Wheelchair
It's been a long time since I posted disability related content, and this video is long overdue, but I’m excited to finally share it with you. This was recorded over a year ago during my trip from London to Amsterdam. Watch as I demonstrate how I set up and take down my electric wheelchair for the flight.
I'm no longer an affiliate marketer for ComfyGo and I'm not getting paid for this video. However, I felt like this content was too valuable not to share. I know the editing isn’t perfect, but I wanted to get this out there for anyone who might find it helpful. Thanks for your patience and support! 🙏🏽

    I am partially paralyzed from an incomplete spinal cord injury and can't walk very well or for very long at all, and I wish people would leave ambulatory wheelchair users alone! It's pretty obvious when I stand and try to walk, but that doesn't mean that people who are less obvious aren't disabled enough to use wheelchairs. Honestly, being in a wheelchair is frustrating and hard. I don't believe anyone would choose it or fake it. It's terribly inconvenient.

    I have tried to make sure that people gets me right, I would go to them and at face apologize and even untill now I'm not able to be I different to this, specifically when I'm misunderstood by someone who means so much to me. Im currently going through this situation, it's sucking me to an extent that I'm questing my worth. Feels really worst to be in, but i have no chance to explain myself .. With time and self analysis I will get out of it I know, but for timing I'm on hell. I searched for how to deal with, and found your video. I find a sense of validation. Thank you so much❤

    Hello yes, Im very afraid of being misunderstood and Im not proud of it but I destroyed many relationships and confused people because I just couldnt stop to explain my point of view and now I realized it, it feels like Im killing myself. And I just wanted to share because it helps me say this somewhere where maybe someone reading this and understand me and maybe Ill give them courage to admit "Yes I was wrong but there is nothing wrong with me." I know it leads back to my childhood, but im not that child anymore and I dont need to be understood by the people whom I choose to understand me when they dont. I just realized and it sucks but hey life will not stop there :) Best wishes for me and all of the ppl who want to grow :) It can be fun to get out of your comfort zone and say "Yes its what I think and if you dont like it you can shove it up ♡"

You also might have the binders on chair to hold stuff together. All wrapping should be off chair before using. Move baggage and box out of the Way before using chair. I want to be able to hear about the chair, not the music.

      Even if they are family, they won't always understand you. And they don't have to. What's important is to believe in your own opinions and stand up for it. :) It's a common struggle to think that just because they are your family, they should do this and do that etc. But lot of times they are just different people with different thinking. And that's okay. :) There is nothing wrong with you or your family. :)

    How did you get your chair on the plane?

    • @compassioncornercounseling
      @compassioncornercounseling 5 месяцев назад

      I didn't fly for this trip. I drove. But I have flown with my chair before. Someday, I may share a video about it. Basically, you bring your wheelchair with you to the airport and you can go through security and what not with it. Then you check the wheelchair at the gate and you'll get first access onto the plane. An assistant will help you get on the plane and workers will take your wheelchair to put underneath the plane. Once you land, you will be the last peraon to get off the plane while they will retrieve your wheelchair for you and then have it ready for you at the jetway. Hope this quick explanation helps.

    • @ATLGETREADY4ME
      @ATLGETREADY4ME 5 месяцев назад

      I have a quantum six edge motorized wheelchair with a headrest. I know how to travel with my manual wheelchair, but I have no idea how to travel out of state with a power chair because I’ve always heard that they catch fire so people don’t want to put them on the plane.

    • @compassioncornercounseling
      @compassioncornercounseling 5 месяцев назад

      @ATLGETREADY4ME you can travel with your electric wheelchair in pretty much the same ways as your normal wheelchair. But, often they will ask you to remove the battery and bring it with you onto the plane due to the possibility of catching fire. You'll want to check the requirements of the airline ahead of time because they usually have limitations for the voltage and size of batteries.

    • @compassioncornercounseling

      @FHunt-mt4bf I'm not really sure. I'm not good with public transportation. I just drove myself to where I was going and then used my wheelchair from there. Or, I would sometimes use the hotel shuttle which had a wheelchair lift. Public transportation is required to be ADA accessible, but I couldn't tell you what it's like from personal experience since I didn't use it. Sorry I can't be of more help.
