For me, the scene between Ten Bears (Sampson) and Josy Wales (Eastwood) where they speak about life and death is the acme of the entire "The Outlaw Josey Wales" film. And I would put Mr. Studi on the same pedestal with Will Sampson and Chief Dan George in their honest portrayals of their people in film.

What ive heard and read about Wes Studi, was that if you worked with him, you had to keep an eye on him, cuz he was a prankster, and practical joker like Shemp of The Three Stooges. His role in "Pow wow Highway" was probably most like him. Must be sumthin bout California Cherokees.

His final appearance was in Killers of the Flower Moon, released after his passing.

Sampson play two of the most pivotal roles in film history. The "Chief" and "Ten Bears" deserved awards. Chief Dan George stole the entire movie in "Josey Wales." "Seems like when I get to liking someone, they ain't around long..." "Seems like when you get to disliking someone, they ain't around long, neither..." Classic.

To all Indians who loved and still love Will and Dan....I had the pleasure of working with both Will Sampson and Chief Dan George in the motion picture industry at the beginning of my career as a junior and assistant recording engineer in post-production studios dubbing their dialogue from the filmed version, only because the quality of the audio had defects due to noise and poor recordings. Number #1, they were pros meaning they came prepared, on-time and they knew their work for the day 100%. They had special character and caring natures which helps. But, the most important thing was that they knew their jobs and they prepared over and over again. So, when they came to the studio they were ready and their work was impeccable. They were not seen as Indian actors or any kind of special case on the productions because they knew what they were doing and they were willing to take direction and always learn. They totally fit right into what we were doing and that makes them the pros they were. I never worked with Mr. Wes Studi but I have seen his great work and I am sure he knows the importance of being a professional. Once you blend into the production as part of the team knowing your role, work, and words and you learn how to put your nervousness aside and collaborate you will always work. I hope more Indians can take my words to heart and take up professions in the arts and always prepare, prepare, prepare. We need you there because there are many very rich and powerful economic forces who want all of our lands from all backgrounds and heritages and want to remove our historical influences on this country. Follow the leads of Chief Dan George, Will Sampson, and Wes Studi and strive to be a Pro's Pro and gain the power you need to control and support your own and your families destinies.
