Fernando Sor - Andante Largo from "6 Petites Pièces", op. 5

This is one of Sor's early works, first published in Paris in 1814. The Andante Largo is clearly influenced by Italian opera, which dominated the musical scene in Sor's native Barcelona at the end of the 18th century.
Interestingly, the original edition is entitled 'Six Petites pièces très faciles'. Although it doesn't present any great technical challenges, to say 'very simple' is an exaggeration. It was probably a marketing tactic on the part of the publisher to boost sales. The guitar was very common in the amateur music scene, and the "very simple" made it easier to market the works.
