An Oakland walk in the Redwoods: Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park
Come along for a stunning 8.5 mile hike through Oakland's Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. These spectacular Redwoods never disappoint. This video highlights one of my favorite 8.5 mile routes in the park that showcases some of my favorite trails in the park. Watch the redwoods show off their beauty in the rain, and shining sun. Maps and route details are found within the video. There are also 4.5 and 6 mile route options suggested within (at the end of the video).

The first of a series of videos of some of my favorite local hikes in the East Bay. This video highlights one of my favorite short, easy sunset hikes overlooking the San Francisco Bay. Come along and experience stunning views of the bay, wildflowers, Mount Diablo and more! This was filmed over the course of three separate days (thus the different sunsets viewed). #Eastbayhikes #sunset #sunsethi...

Hello @ Dorea Martin👋, wondering how do you contact those rifugio ? Is it every huts have availability if you just walk in or needed to book ahead?
Such a beautiful place! I love Redwood trees and this is one of my favorite parks to visit! ^^ can’t wait to go there again
Such a lovely group who sticked around with each other :)
Awesome park.
Thank you so much for sharing!!! This is amzing❤ I am going to follow most of the itinerary exactly haha
Very good video
do you know how much cost meals in refuges?
Hello! If you google the refugios you are looking for you can usually find their website which often includes prices for dinner, lunch and half board (a bed, dinner and breakfast). The prices change every year, so I would highly recommend doing this! Also- not every refugio allows people to only eat dinner (and not stay with them).
Catching up on this very well done video which has some unique features such as the detailed map discussion each day. Do you have any overall gear comments such as best packs, what you wish you packed, what you regret you packed. Having such a huge group I assume there was some gear discussion. That would be helpful to me to read.
Thank you for watching! I’ve pasted a link below with our full itinerary including a recommended gear list with descriptions on the last few pages! I hope it helps! docs.google.com/document/d/1MTVYhX8r8K27yAwrtwrcNCQhgSdt9G8IsfS-7SGSe18/edit
Blanco White as the opening music! Knew this would be a quality watch!!!
Thank you so much for sharing your itinerary, very helpful in our planning to visit Dolomites! Your TMB video also inspired us to do our 2023 TMB thr-hike! May I ask if hotels in Venice help keep your luggage during your hike (as we travel from Asia)? Thank you!
Our hotel did store our luggage. It was very difficult to find a hotel that did this (we had to call around and ask at many places). I’d definitely call ahead and ask, wherever you stay!
@@DoreaMartin 🙏
Love mountain biking here.
Hi Dorea, I have watched countless videos of TMB, yours is one the most enjoyable ones. I am glad to see that you have included a lot of info which will be very useful for the future TMB'ers. Very nice. Although, it could have been a bit longer! (This is a compliment not a complaint! )
I absolutely loved this video! My daughter, (24) and me, her mom (64) are hiking this in Sept 2024, so excited and I hope we both have as big a smile as Nattie did!!! Beautiful photography and information along the way. Thank you for taking us on this trip! Tell Nattie her "Mary had a little lamb" rendition was spot on!
I hope you and your daughter have an incredible trip!
Aww, thank you Dorea, you ladies were so cute! Happy travels!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful place
im 30 seconds in but opened up your google doc....speechless, a true gift for a virgo girl who loves itineraries!!! bless you for sharing lololol now to enjoy the video!!!
Thanks for the video Dorea. It's very nice and helpful, particularly the arrow indications of the trail. Pls consider reducing the background music and indicating the time it took for each trail or the overall time in upcoming videos.
Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching you all having a wonderful time. G.R.E.A.T. video!❤
Nicely done Ms. Martin. It's interesting how many E. Bay folks don't know Reinhardt Redwood exists. Late 50's through the 60's I spent time there as often as possible. Best days were getting there near sunrise and spending a Summer day there, noting the changes in scent as the day warmed.
Does the section that descends between two cliff faces with a lake at the bottom feel as steep as it looks when you are on it versus on camera? Also, I read about the Cima de Zita section being quite dangerous, but I can find nothing on which segment of the Alta Via that is. I would like to do the northern portion, and I just want to be prepared.
Did you book the rifugios on your own, or did you use a trekking company?
I booked on my own for the group. It’s way less expensive to book on your own if you can manage it.
PERFECT LOG of your TREK for us viewers! Thank you for providing right off the bat your itinerary with meticulous detail. I also really liked how you showed us the elevation gain and losses of each day with a map to watch your progress. I was truly impressed with this helpful hiker's vid!!! Thank you. Plus, you guys really gel; so happy and clearly having a blast of a time on the TMB. Way to go! This vid will help me plan for my upcoming July 2024 trek on the wondrous TMB!!! Nice to see hikers like you guys enjoy the cows and wild flowers along the way. You clearly enjoyed this journey and thank you for sharing with us all.
The best video I've seen so far, it is very nice to see your group happily together. Your pictures are fantastic and encouraging people to hike there. The detailed information you provided in the link is extremely helpful, especially suggesting to avoid the cable section, I'm more likely to follow your schedule to book refugios, thank for sharing your happiness, your experience and information.
Planning a small group AV1 trip summer 2024. Can you please recommend which hotel you stayed at in Venice?
Loved your video:) May I ask what backpack you are using?
Hi! Great videos! I appreciated the TMB video as I am planning to go and have seen different information in it. I have a Garmin Forunner 245 and when I plan a Gaia route, the km’s in gaia do not match the reality taken with my watch. Do you have any differences with the before (planning) and after (watch). Sorry, I speak french. 😊
Excellent video! Thank you very much. We are doing almost the same exact trek in September. Which month did you visit? What was your experience with filling your water bottles at the huts?
We did the trek in the beginning of September. We were able to fill our water bottles at all Refugio’s, but did have to use a water filter or aquamira drops for about half of them (many refugios will tell you the water is not potable).
Would you have to worry about bears or big cats
There are no bears in redwood regional. There are potentially mountain lions, but they generally keep to themselves.
We are visiting the Dolomites in September (2023) and I’ve reviewed many, many You Tube videos. Yours is the very best that I’ve seen. Useful information and the joy of your group was palpable and inspiring. We are health care people too and your caring for each other made it special. Great job and Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video! Im doing some alternate route of the AV1 in July. So much info in your video, thank you!! What camera sdo you use? Your photos are breathtaking ❤
Thank you! I hope you enjoy your trek! I use my iPhone for all footage.
What camera did you use to take all these wonderful pictures?
I use my iPhone for all footage in my videos. I do change the camera setting in my iPhone to be 4K at 60frames per second)!
Nicely done, the trip, the video, the music, did you so the standard route entirely, or did you do some variants?
I live in the area and when the tourists come to swarm and seethe with their loud voices and selfies we run for cover.
😂❤🎉😂HELLO WOMEN IT'S FANTASTIC RANDONNéE FOR YOU.......MERVEILLOUS MONT BLANC😂❤❤❤🎉VERY GOOD TRIP
😂😂😂😂❤😊😅🎉😂❤❤❤❤❤😂🎉😅
Another great video! Always so inspiring.
Nice video. When did you guys start out? im trying to get clue on the weather, im going myself in the 1st to weeks of september
Great video! I would (instead of your playlist) rather hear your conversations, commentary, and the crunch of boots.
Did this with two other guys in Sept 2012. Stayed at many of the same refuges (Bonhomme, Soldini, Bonatti, Arpette, LaBoerne). Soldini and La Boerne had "interesting" sleeping arrangements. Impressed that you did the Fenetre d'Arpette (the glacier has visibly receded in the last decade) ! I was (nervously) interested in that cliff-side stone-road variante, but we took easier route from Trient to Col de Balme. Then did the Ladders (!!) up and stayed over at Lac Blanc. So high up that, during lightning, they would cut off the refuge lights to prevent the bulbs from blowing out ! Dismal rain the next day, so we cut it a day short, canceled our last refuge stay, and wet-hiked back down to Chamonix and Les Houches. That cable car side trip to Tofino (and the ice field) looked spectacular ! We hung out a couple days after in Chamonix, and took the cable ("bus") up to Aiguille Du Midi (13000+ ft - which took our wind out even after all that alpine trekking !). Fantastic video (and score). Brings back great memories. Thanks !
I'd love to do this in a trek group if there are any organised tours anyone could recommend where I can meet other hikers and do it together let me know! 😁
If you want the wildest Dolomites: Alta Via 6 "Dei Silenzi".👍
A perfect hike! Wish i got there one day!
Great uploads and hiking ...well done ....these days will stay in the memory.
Awesome video!! Gets me excited for the trip ❤️ which month did you guys go please?
We hiked over the last few days of august and first few days of September.
Nice video to watch . We are planing to go this September. Can I ask which tour guild 0:00 book and apps you used ?
I used Andrew McCluggage’s guide book for the Alta Via 1 trail for planning purposes. I use the Gaia pro gps map subscription for route finding while hiking (I plotted out the GPS tracks in this app online and downloaded them and the offline maps on my phone Gaia app before starting the hike). We did not use a tour guide!
@@DoreaMartin thanks for quick answer.
Bellissimo video complimenti, l'unico problema è l'accappatoio
!!
I was looking for information about route you mentioned on day 5.Very informative. Thank you for this.
Best!!!
Happy New Year !!!
Is there any chance you can attach your trip plan? It’s a great itinerary!
Here is a link to the shared google doc I made for our hiking group for planning purposes. (should have our itinerary, costs and comments on the different Refugios we stayed at). docs.google.com/document/d/1MTVYhX8r8K27yAwrtwrcNCQhgSdt9G8IsfS-7SGSe18/edit?usp=sharing here is a link to the Gaia GPX map tracks I made for our group to download to help route themselves along the way. you will notice that there are individual gpx tracks for each day on the trek. In some cases there are two gpa tracks on a single day. These represent days where I felt like it might be useful to have an alternate track plotted out (incase of bad weather or a need for an easier route for anyone who might end up needing a bit of a break on the trail). www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=8.5/11.6638/46.4176&pubLink=lUo6K5zdLoBE4iIunXKYcVhR&folderId=6dbbd688-b30a-4d20-b77e-9802d6cac187
