    It's not a real Brick House don't you watch all those old movies and go to those old towns where you've literally see a legitimate brick building because it's built straight out of brick from the grounds of the roof and it's more durable during the weather and you can't lose your wooden roof because it's it's not there yeah everything needs maintenance but bricks are really easy to fix versus wood

  • @nightshadow546
    @nightshadow546 25 дней назад

    Nope that's not a real brick house because if it was it could literally survive hurricanes tornadoes and really strong winds but you can't because you're going to lose your roof and you're going to lose your foundation a legitimate Brick House is made from brick except for the door from the ground to the roof solid brick no substitute brakes and cables that's a brick house whatever you got here in your video is garbage because you push it over

    It’s wrong to call these houses wooden. It’s basically a frame, but it can be made of anything. If the frame is made of steel, you don’t say it’s a steel house. In general, homes in the US are made of the cheapest materials, by the lowest standards, but Americans somehow are ok with that.

    Yeah honestly I can't take this very seriously. A lot of people have already pointed out flaws in this argument and the fact that Europe has many different climates and their brick houses have remained standing for centuries whilst my parents 60s mobile home is falling apart is honestly a good example of how brick is superior, I'll listen to the advice of architects when they build the brick home but I don't think this video is helpful.

    I hope this helps someone/points them in the right direction, when it comes to building a good house. Houses are built TERRIBLY in the US; you really have to go out of your way, to get a house built properly in the US, they are basically a step up from a straw house, by default; Its kind of sad that to get a well built house in the US, you have to go against the grain, A LOT of the info pertaining to the history/a fancy name/a certain type of house and what its called, honestly doesn't matter, just point, at the type of house you want and then start modifying/changing what you don't like, or don't want/what you want to add/remove and so on, honestly this is what matters, I prefer NO HOAs/a piece of secluded property to build on, is DEFINITELY the way to go, with a CUSTOM lay out, honestly do what you want, let history be history; LOL the real question is; Why all the pine? To build right, one of the cheaper ways, is to use concrete and rebar, the concrete NEEDS to be, AT LEAST 6 inches thick, with rebar through out, or if your cutting corners, rebar needs to be applied every 1-2FT, WIFI extenders/numerous routers can keep your homes wifi operating properly/optimally, hurricane straps, for keeping metal roofs, on/together/the structure of a house together, in general, is a great option; The better/ more expensive way is, ALL steel, DEFINITELY no wood, outside or for structure/wood shouldn't be around windows either/used for framing outside either, honestly another cheaper option, thats not terrible, is fiber cement siding, as long as you put weather treated 7/16-inch or 15/32-inch thick backing behind it, houses are wrapped now days though/flashing is used/they are waterproofed, so thats at least good, but obviously still use treated wood, for the backing; IF you have to use wood outside, under your hardie board; The best/strongest wood in the world is, Australian Buloke, the strongest local, to the US wood, is Black Ironwood, other good options are hickory, being the strongest out of these five, then maple, then oak, then walnut, and then beeches, again all structure made of wood, thats for support, NEEDS to be at least 7/16-inches or 15/32-inches thick; Also NEVER use OSB board or Pine, outside the house or for structural support, I would steer away from it regardless, but this includes decking, for roofs, don't use pine or OSB for that, and if your using wood for decking, make sure its weather treated and 7/16-inch or 15/32-inch thick and made of one of the woods I listed above, NOT pine or OBS, also remember to use hurricane straps, for keeping things together, this is also a MUST; also no wood porches, steel is the best, with a steel cover/eve, to keep the sun off of it/to keep it cooler, but plastic decking is really popular now days, for longevity as well; Tornado proof windows is a MUST, but I would minimize the amount of windows used/DEFINITELY limit the size of the windows, that would be even better, and also like I've said, a steel roof, NOT tin or shingles; This would basically fix all the problems, with stability, pine and OSB are garbage, pine is fine for inside, for shelves, but not outside or for structure, or roof decking, I honestly would avoid it all together, but these options, are A LOT better vs the default garbage material used in 90% of houses in the US now days; I would also get steel storm shutters, to protect windows, make sure the steel doesn't move/make sure the steel cant bang into the Windows/so make sure the metal shutter, is far enough from the window, to not touch the glass, so nothing can bang into the window/make sure the shutter doesn't sway, in any scenario, I like automatic shutters/electric shutters, but you don't have to go that route; my goal/mission, is to only build once/longevity/home protection, is really important. Also solar and battery backups, would be great too, protecting your security cams, with steel enclosures, is good too. The other thing I would do, RIGHT AWAY, is change out all of your screws on your exterior doors/ a child can kick doors in, if its only installed/secured with screws that are an inch long, 3inches is good though, if you look at MOST doors, that get kicked in quickly/with in a half of a second, by a tiny child, only the pine gets ripped away from the frame/ the screws weren't in the studs, also braid nails, MIGHT be the only thing holding your door frames together as well. The better way for doors, is steel frames, with bolts, but just switching out those tiny screws, will make a HUGE difference, also a bigger/longer strike plate would help as well, with more screws, don't forget about the screws on the hinges as well though, I like ASSA locks, but Medeco is good too. I also have two layers of 5/8" sheetrock, with a 2 inch air gap, I also have the soundproofing foam as well and I used paint, that is supposed to be sound proofing as well; I want my house to be around after I'm dead, you cant achieve that with pine/wood, unfortunately, and I also don't want to have to do maintenance on the outside of my house, every 5/10/20 years/ my goal is 50+ years, honestly though, the way I've built things, I would bet that outside maintenance would not even need to be thought about for at least 100 years/I should be good for the rest of my life. ALL lower levels, should be underground, in an area, with absolutely no windows, if your completely underground, that shouldn't be a thought/option anyway, but it is something to think about though. I've also done other things to my house as well though; my house has ALL 20AMP or higher AMP outlets/breakers, no 15amp outlets or breakers, ALL wire in my house is orange/#10 gauge, or above, each room has, at least 8 DEDICATED outlets, my house has a 600AMP panel, that has a breaker switch/whole house shut off, inside the house at the breaker box AND outside, at that breaker box as well, I had two whole house surge protectors that were wired inside AND outside, but recently I switched those out, for the ones that ALSO are supposed to protect against EMPs as well, I thought that I might as well/I didn't see a reason not to switch those out; I also made sure each switch/light on and off rocker or button, had/has a neutral wire, for smart switches, this is PROBABLY code now days/most likely this is something all new houses have now, but obviously I wanted to be sure and I recommend that everyone be sure that this is available in every switch, SOME smart switches don't require a neutral, but I still recommend making sure its at least available; I went with a commercial dishwasher, which required a slightly bigger drain pipe, but 2min wash times is a MUST/commercial dishwashers have two minute wash cycles, also an endless hot water system, was a must as well, also a whole house reverse Osmosis system, to make sure water is as good/clean as possible; I also prefer/I stick to perimeter plumbing/the fastest way to a location, is a straight line, you don't want diagonal runs through out your entire house/when you need to repair things, you want to inflict the least amount of damage/you don't want to have to repair a ton of sheet rock, the second thing I required, is accsess panels, to everything, including bath tubs/showers, and definitely sinks/toilets, the second two are usually not an issue, but beyond this, a certain portion of pipes need accsess panels as well, so you can work on anything, without having to destroy sheetrock/you should be able to work on sections of pipes, without removing sheetrock, also all bath tubs NEED a valve as well/everything requires its own valves and every so feet, a valve should be available/installed as well, so you never have to turn off the water to the entire house or mostly never have to, to fix something, a whole house, inside water shut off, is a must though, granted, I think this is code now days though/I think all houses have an inside whole house water shut off/valve, now days; and yes there are pros and cons, to perimeter piping, but for repairing/creating the least amount of damage, the pros out way the cons. I've probably forgotten, SOMETHING, but if you do this, your house is DEFINITELY built better than 90% of most peoples houses, I honestly don't know why houses are built so badly by default, in the US, I know the history behind it and I know when it started, but I don't know why it continued to be the standard and I don't understand why people don't object to having a multi million dollar home, thats built so terribly/maybe it comes down to education/they don't realize how bad the materials being used are.

    @0:50, That kind of damage rarely occurs in brick walls. Did a truck back into the wall? We don't know the full story. @1:12, Brick is rigid and houses are supposed to be rigid too. The exception would be earthquake prone areas. The change of climate has not altered the habitability of houses built of bricks a 100 or more years ago. Brick is very adaptable to the climate change that can occur over a century. @1:41, Brick is not vulnerable to moisture. Brick is not made of gypsum or Plaster of Paris. Brick is made of clay that is fired and turns it into a vitrified and rigid mass. It allows moisture to travel through it but it does not break down. The channel is entitled “How to make my house” but it appears the content creator lacks knowledge on how to build a house. Personally, I would tell people to avoid sidings, unless they absolutely love the looks of a siding.
