7.62x55????
7.62x51 NATO……Not x55
Q: mess tin at 1min 30 sec is a stainless .. does not look or (sound) Aluminium.. There also is a distinct difference of British mess tins (Dixies) designed to heat rations in tins placed into boiled water heated in Dixie while US to empty tins into pan then heat rations....this was procedure up to introduction of ration pouches ... which are heated in pouch in water heated in mess tin ( still same design of WW"...UK ration pouch fit neatly in Dixie mess tin.. The UK mess tin is a very clever design. one forms a lid/ keeps warm on top of tin below can be a drinking mug .. its multi purpose .. Along with issued Crusader mug ..work of art.. its all that is needed for outdoor cooking
There is no real evidence about the frogskin cammies being pulled due to friendly fire. The confusion in France was the introduction of the M-1943 field jacket worn by replacements when the vets wore the M-1941s. The new field jacket looked like the four pocket tunic of the enemy. That would draw fire...
Mine is basically identical to yours and says same year. So it was made in 1945 then?

I served in Vietnam 1967/68 with the Australian army ,issued jungle greens / GP boots and giggle hat(bush hat.We never wore helmets , didn't need them too heavy and no good in the jungle/useless and cumblesom.
Gulf of Tonkin incident. The war was never meant to be won 😓
Nice work love to see chopper crews navy,
I’m 77+ 1st Cav 11B/11C … 1967-1968 … got my teeth cut at Dak To, TET at Bong Song, flew over Hue up to Quang Tri and cut the NVA escaping out the Hue back door, went into A Shau Valley April 19th,1968 with 155 men … 35 days later we came out with 105 ragamuffins with 4 KIA’s, back to Quang Tri, then the Division moved south to Quan Loi and we camped out in the Parrots beak on the Cambodian border. This two year draftee came out an E5 Sargent in charge Echo Company 2nd/8th I was in charge of 6 … six man 81mm mortar squads and a 20+- man recon platoon … smack dab in the middle of them cockamamie rubber trees … they say the 1 st Cav didn’t venture into Cambodia until 1970… My ass … I carried the map … I knew where I was most of the time … got more holes in me than John Kerry, but never got a Purple Heart … just alcohol poured on my butt … got choppered back to the rear aide stations twice … yeah … just have the field medics change that battle dressing every day … Poop … field dressing won’t stay on your sweaty ass when your humping all day with 60-80#’s on your back …. I can still see 9 faces on that big black in Washington DC … I’ve forgotten most of their names.
Nice presentation you've got
The CIA guy looks like Jason Bourne with those glasses
Gracias, buenísimo la presentación Desde chile un saludo
Do the Indochina War
You could also add the Navy riverine force and the USAF security forces and air rescue teams….
My first boss was a MD Natl Guard who faved off with protesters. One of those people in my past I would have liked to get to know better.
1:04 “7.62x55” I thought it was x51. Everything I looked up doesn’t show x55 plus everything I learned it was x51.
I love your narration voice! You have earned a sub
Can identify this patch? It may be foreign.
Who is the guy seen wearing the gear, he looks like a tool !
Quelques erreurs mais franchement c'est pas mal du tout
7.62x55 😂😂😂nato it’s 7.62x51 nato 😅
One thing I always had was bug juice in those clear plastic bottles. Those tiger stripes uniforms were locally made and you could get them from most tailor shops in town. Wearing of tiger stripes were prohibited but anything goes in the field.
This is impressively detailed work, and you definitely earned my subscription.
Very nice. Thank you.
I was born in late 1967 I remember all the news about the Vietnam War and the fall of Saigon in 1975 and I remember watching all the Vietnam War movies for the next 12 years . after that.
I’ve heard that the tiger stripes and ERDL weren’t used widespread because there were quality control issues with the dye fading too quickly. Is this true?
great video
So much character 😍
This is what a real American men. 2:49 would wear during the 1960s..
I got a capac mfg co helmet liner
Thank you Mike,, we!come home!
*7.62x51
Do the GWOT next!
I got a Vietnam war helmet ERDL camo pattern, does someone knows who wore them? Marines? Special forces?
what about greenbacks
10 years of government subsidized lunacy, on an industrial level....then the US leaves in '75 and the NVA go thru the ARVN like a big rock thru wet toilet paper...Yeah,, "timeline"....

How is it made?
1940s The Best Era👍
No navy seals or macvsog guys in blue jeans and tiger stripe?
No SOG?
great job
My dad (USMC ‘70 - ‘73) loved the M-14. He carried the M-16 in Vietnam though.
just a note to kill this myth. The camo HBT's were not withdrawn because of friendly fire. Not a single document has been found with any instances of friendly fire because of the camo hbt's. They were simply replaced by the OD HBT with the new reissue after OP-COBRA. They were just bad overall and faded to a white color making them stand out even more. Actually it was the standard OD HBT that soldiers were afraid to wear because they looked like the german HBT's. This has been reported from frontline soldiers in QM field reports of 1944. For that reason frontline soldiers rarely wore their HBT's when in battle but kept it as a replacement set.
The M-14 is chambered in 7.62x51 not 7.62x55
