    Always liked this map. Don't understand why most of people refuse to play it. Also, I don't get why people like to vote so much for the Italy map in Mare Nostrum :)))

    bro those wolfes are updated by modders, vanilla wolfes can attack to 6-8 times in a row its rng, modded wolfes attack once and they stop, vanilla wolfes are not balanced at all unless you are mage

      I thought that the only difference is that vanilla wolves attack after the player is on the ground. Ok, I'm intrigued, I'll test it with vanilla.

      ​@@kinderbueno223Just tested it with switching off the alternative A.I. option. Not a big difference. I just started a new game and found the nearest wolf. The only real problem was the first sword short range. Yes, they can do more bites in a row but it can even be their own disadvantage in some cases. Shouldn't be a problem at all later through the game with more hp and stamina.

      @@SigurdGR On easy diff probably you are right but in hard diff you should be very carfull when you go fight group more than 3, i was playing on hard diff month ago and sometimes i had to load game bcz i died to 3 wolves with 400 hp 200 str and hallaberd, thanks for your opinion have a nice day

      @@kinderbueno223 I tested it on all difficulty levels starting with easy. As for halberd, it has a bad range in this game, the only effective attack is spinning but it eats too much of stamina. Thanks for yours! Have a nice day too!

      Thanks for the positive mark! I played using false burst glitch which I described in the description. But I wanted to know how much ammo I would spend on a regular basis if the bursts were real. The glitch burst spends just one bullet but hits the target with all that a weapon spends for one. As for attempts, there is the whole review of the issue in a comment to the other video from this playlist. The last mission, answering the question of @hamada1484. Cheers!

      RO classic events are highly populated lately. We had almost full server yesterday and both teams ran out of reinforcements at Zhitomir. Good tendency I guess. I wish more people would visit MN and SB also though. But most of crowded days visitors like to play the same few maps like Zhitomir or Leningrad unfortunately.

    That mission was a "game restarter" for most first-time players) After realizing that big guns are needed already on the 8th mission (w/o springfield at release ver.)

    I activate turn based in case of emergency, used it in Quincy to save the hostages. So the useful bug works in turn based too. But the hardest quest in my opinion by the way, is to save all ghouls in Tombstone. Even to save enough to just obtain the drawings is not a cakewalk.

    Ye, 1st mission and quincy are super hard on insane. In my opinion, quincy with all quests done is hardest. But only with all quests done. And - have never played or seen a playthrough on a tough guy + insane/hard, but in turn-based mode... Its must be even harder, especially with the addition of pre-emptive shots in patches. Plus, it seems, that the "burst-with-single-bullet-damage" bug does not work in turn based mode

      Not that often if you sneak up on him and hide behind the wall the moment he spots you. He blows himself up in such case mostly. 😉 And that's why I prefer not to use the launcher across the obstacles myself.

    Todd Howard obviously played tactics. Before fallout3, he simply decided to play the last game in the series at the time of purchasing the rights. And this was tactics, not fallout 2 or fallout 1. Bos zeppelins, the plot of the Pitt fallout 3 dlc is taken from this mission with the renegade paladin. A crashed zeppelin with a resident inside, like here, but a super mutant, is in Fallout 4 dlc far harbor, etc..

      I agree but I also suspect that he could use the FT materials because it's rather unpopular among the Fallout players, unknown to them. The forgotten plot is a nice basis for those who intend to sell their product in such case.

    I don't know. I can't hit shit when I switch to the textured scope. Guess, that I'm just too used to the 3D one.

      Maybe. But when I used it for the first time I felt the difference how much easier it is for me. As you can see the way to use the 3d scope is to aim and then move it up a bit, the textured must be moved up sometimes too but at much longer distances. And semi auto rifles are much easier to use with it. This is my first attempt in multiplayer with the textured one.

      @@SlovakianLynx Could be. Try to practice with bots on Barashka. There is a good position for practicing in the German wooden bunker right of the large bridge with Soviet bots running around the opposite bank. Just prone left of it. And the window at Hedgehog for practicing medium ranges. Longer ranges require raising the scope a bit, while medium, like 100-300m, don't.

    I had been wondering how best to use the Scottish unit roster regarding it's limitations, notably by not having any anti armor capabilities. I typically don't like relying on mercenaries too much because I like to lean into each factions unique rosters and enjoy the strengths and weaknesses of each faction. But I had thought the Scots might be an exception because of how weak their roster appears. Then you uploaded this video a week ago and I couldn't wait until I could find a moment to watch this. As always, this was a masterful exhibition of the Highlander unit and the Scottish army in general and I can't wait to give this faction a go at some point down the line.

      Thank you Khan! The only thing to notice here is that before you can allow mercenaries, I guess you'll already develop a suitable tactics with your own units making mercs unnecessary. You'll have to. To survive before reaching the financial stability, I mean. And you can try them after Irish! Because Scottish came from Ireland and created their kingdom after all. To feel a bit of chronology so to say. Heh?

    Again your cav control is so clean. I know you've mentioned this before but I want to get this right. When you pull out of an engagement you said you just use a single click? Is that right? Or did you mean a single 'double click' to get your unit to run out of the engagement? I have my 'R' key set as my 'run' command so I rarely use my double click so I can just click once to set an attack order and then hit 'R' to get them to run. The main reason I set the 'R' key to 'run' is so that I can click and drag and have them run into place once the armies get closer. This was a game changer for me. However once I can control my cavalry like you can I feel like an entire realm of tactics will become available. The simple answer is that I probably just need to jump into some more custom battles and keep practicing but any more tips/clarification you can send my way would be useful 🙏

      Thanks again Khan! I'll check it because I don't remember for sure. Either one double click or one click and ctrl+r immediately. I use it for so long that I don't even remember how I do it. I hope that I won't forget it 😂 due to an attempt to check. It's like beginning to think how you tighten your laces and feeling that you just don't remember but your hands do, and you notice that you can't do it again because you do it with your brain which forgot it. So the only way is to wait until that very moment comes when you do it again with your reflexes only, when I usually record it in my memory once and for all. And to think that just yesterday I tried this mechanic in Shogun and it worked.

I can take things too literally sometimes and I just wanted to make sure that when you said you click once you actually meant double click once. So now I just need more practice.       ​@@khanofsteppe1667 Thanks. You can do it, just mind timing. When the charge effect spent, withdraw a squadron. Only when you're sure that an enemy is broken continue to push. You'll get used to it. I took my time to come to this as well once. I'll reach my vids of early campaigns soon when I was not skilled in this also. 😉 Once I finish with two remaining of the DLC. One for Irish, one for Vikings. By the way I wouldn't say that it's clean in this battle. I hadn't reached the necessary level of self control to prevent unnecessary losses among hitsquadrons by that time. The late Bysantine campaign was played later.

      Thanks Mate! I noticed that when you die you can call another arty even if the current barrage is not finished yet. So kamikaze charge helps to cover all enemy defense line with arty.

    Okay I loved your pronoai allagion video but this one was also super fun! What a scrap, what a come back! And I didn't hate the used of artillery either. I might have to play around with artillery a bit more in some of my own campaigns. Drawing out those Billmen at the end and then performing a perfectly timed horse sandwhich on a unit that could've otherwise caused a lot of damage to your RK's was surgical 🤌

    This video is a pure masterclass of aggressive cav play. I would never charge horses into spears like this. But you make it work again and again. And you make it look easy. Maybe it's because you string your cav units out into a long line that makes it easier for you to disengage your cavalry. Or perhaps the larger units makes it easier? Or you just have talent. Are you using the route command constantly? Whatever the reason the results are incredibly disruptive. Catching the enemy as they're in the middle of repositioning they're army into a better position thereby not allowing them the advantage of better terrain like you did in the first battle and also not allowing them a moment to form up, it's all obviously effective. My favorite though was the last battle in the snow against a catholic faction. I was wondering if this would work against a heavier faction and you showed that it does. Now I just wonder how you'd do against a catholic army that is more heavy cav based. All in all you've given me a lot to think about, it's inspirational stuff. Thanks again for all of this. These kind of discussions and tactical ideas are what keeps this game fun for me and it helps me remain excited for my channel 🙏 When you get a chance watch my part 13 for the Irish campaign (at least the first wave of the big battle at the end) I tried to implement a form of aggressive cav play...and I'll let you see for yourself the results... 😄

      Actually when you charge some enemy unit repeatedly the closer the formation form to a quadrant the better. I usually stretch it depending on a situation, charging heavy infantry with quadrant formation while routing multiple light inf or cav units with the longest front possible. I use rout command only when I understand that my cav stacked and can't break contact by itself, like with enemy cavalry. Usually it's just literally sending them backwards after charge with one click, after you see that the charge effect depleted itself. Two clicks make them to start rearranging their formation for moving opposite direction which takes valuable time. As for a heavy cav based faction, I believe that's when economy and experience achieved by your units should take their turn. Economy should allow you to outsmart them on a strategic level while experience gathered by your heavy cav on tactical, after their victories over lighter Muslim opponents. If we generate the battle of equal knights and bys cav numbers against each other, the first once probably win. But your task on a strategic map is not to let them. Having heavy cavalry earlier than them smash their lighter units which they have to develop on the way to the knights regular training availability. And even if they reach such a level of development your cav should already have more experience earned in fights with their intermediate line and iron forges for making better weapons to outperform them even one on one.       ​@@khanofsteppe1667Yep, the officially playable barbarian factions can't fight against their civilized rivals without druids for Celtic and screachers for Germanic. Looks like Germanics survived and even prospered because of armored archers, gothic heavy cav and phalanx formation 😋 (which they get by the late campaign stages except the formation).

    The battle brought me immense joy, this was a fantastic demonstration of how the mass skirmish build can work. Now I'm really looking forward to implementing this on a grand scale with a multi wave strategy the incorporates a skirmish wave, a hard hitting attack wave, then perhaps followed up by a more faster/pursuit wave.     Quite the upset in this one, it really came down to you being able to rout the enemy general. I must've missed something but how were you able to rout his general? It looked to me that you had your royal knights 1 v 2 against his royal knights and some men at arms and you still came out on top? How? Did this battle just come down to the specific traits/command stats of the respective generals perhaps or maybe I missed a key element in the battle itself.

      That's a good question because I don't remember myself. It was long ago, maybe 5 or even 6 years ago. The only thing I remember is that I was preparing to loose this battle and to inflict as many casualties to the enemy as possible. Watching this now I suspect that the enemy general had some bad trait reducing morale. Also the bad morale of one militia unit started a chain reaction of panic. When units see friendlies routing their morales decrease. So by the time the knights clashed on the right the militia squad had bad morale due to heavy casualties, after it rallied after the first rout already. When it sustained few casualties again, it broke and ran, and the men at arms followed because by that time they also had worsened morale after the knights charge inflicted casualties to them and the running militia just added into it. So the enemy knights had morale penalties from two friendly retreating units at once at the same moment they clashed with my knights, who had more valor as I suspect and outnumbered the enemy general squad when the men at arms routed. Anyway, holding line and working with one flank worked and that's why I decided to upload it.

    .....and wow! You really don't care about fighting the Mongols without tree cover! The cojones, bravo! This battle made me see why you didn't care about taking engagements outside of the forest in the first battle. Watching those polearms cutting through the heavy cav was a thing of beauty. Also well done on controlling these armies on large unit size, it looks a bit too unwieldy for me but you manage it well 👍

    Very clean demonstration of anti Mongol tactics! Love the fight in the thunderstorm as well, thematic stuff. You fought a disciplined battle up until the melee engagement and then you let your units fights the Mongols just outside of tree cover. This is something I would try hard to not let happen, though sometimes units over pursue and then I might send more units out of the forest to help my units that have been caught out... Clearly this didn't impact the outcome of the battle though and then I watched your second battle with the Mongols...

      Thanks. I fought with infantry on an edge of the forest, it was enough for anticavalry bonus I believe. Left flank relied on cavalry mostly, so it didn't matter because spears were to exhaust cavalry for my cavalry attack. Sometimes it becomes clear for you that you are about to win and it's more important not to ruin the formation in such a moment.

      @@SigurdGR that’s what I figured, I reckon that by the time that the melee engagement happened you had already achieved a favorable advantage and you did well to keep the lads together instead of letting them get singled out.

    Is there a way to hold the aiming button instead of clicking on the aiming button?

      Sure, as long as you want. There is only toggle aiming option in RO 1. But if you used to hold so much that you loose yourself otherwise, nobody will stop anyone from holding the button after you toggled it. As for me, it's much easier to aim with toggle option. Even in HLL I use a keyboard button to aim longer distance not to mess with the right mouse button, while holding for short distance offhand firing only.

    Oh boy, I wish it was still like this. I played Ostfront the most in 2009-10, when the servers ware constantly full and it was a problem to join. Don't understand why a game, that was so popular is now almost dead.

      2010 is when I played it first. Good times! Infantry & tank servers were full. Tank servers were much better than arcade wot or wt. And it was the only tactical mp except arma.

      I never liked the MP in ArmA, as it is like getting several meters to a destination, there's some action and then travel again several meters. RO is much better in this. I remember a realistic tank game from that time, but I don't remember how it was called and I don't know if it was MP.

      It's good you asked my friend. This is the Red Orchestra ancestor. A mod for Unreal Tournament 2004, Red Orchestra Combined Arms. You need UT2004 and a mod to install. There is a download link among Red Orchestra PL files for example.

    thx for that playlist, best ft footage on yt im not a hardcore player, always played realtime, toughguy + hard(not insane) But this mission is really hard. Always not-all quests done here on tough guy, for me. And always get ~2 "trash recruits" to die at deathclaw attack on ghouls
