My Model Railroad

My "Rockville" layout consists of two sections that were positioned side by side in L-shape. The bottom vertical section is the Rockville Industrial area. I bought this as an incomplete layout with tracks and some buildings in place and with no landscaping. It's on a tilt-able 2m x 1.5m baseboard mounted on a steel frame with four swivel wheels. I added the buildings, mountain and general lands...

Nicely filmed and edited 🎉
Thank you so much for the amazing diesel cab ride.
Traveled that line many times to C/Town Amazing journing
Ek is jaloers, maar ek gun jou die plesier. Geniet hom.
Dit is 'n baie gewilde manier van reis in Europa. Oorweeg dit gerus om een te huur.😉
Very nice layout
Baie mooi.
Nice train video.
A sight to see on the move, fully loaded!
😃 SUPER LIKE, HOW DO YOU HAVE SUCH A TRAIN? Skoda EJ675 001 ruclips.net/video/4c64mz0rLXY/видео.html

That's some plan! I have been improving mine for 9 years and it isn't near there!
I know the feeling - always new ideas coming up. But (maybe fortunately), I ran out of space and now focus on maintenance issues only.
My mond hang oop. Dit is briljant. Dankie vir die deel.
Dankie Paul, waardeer jou terugvoer.
A great video explaining the planning and execution of a well laid out layout. The video and layout was very well done!
Thanks Jim!
Methinks a Garret is called for...
To go by train is better......Beitbridge border totally blocked on South African side
Nice layout chris like the lights on your layout.
Thank you, appreciate
@@ChrisMunnik Thanks Chris and Thank you very much for replying to my comment. I would love if you could take a quick look at my page and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Lot's going on Chris in a small area.
The scenery in this part of the South Africa....has only been seen by a few South Africans...as in the past we all just wanted to the see for holidays
My Aunty Fritzenella Ellenbogen used to live there.
You had to go to Patryslaagte for a run around. But then you show Houwhoek. Is a run around possible at Elgin? And where does the steam locos turn? If I am correct, the first turn around wye is at Rietpoel. And Caledon sold their turntable.
The locos follow the loop at Elgin and hook up again at the rear end of the train. Towards Elgin the steam loco leads with the diesel following and on return the diesel leads with the steam loco following in reversed position.
At 2:47 the train passes an illegal dagga plantation.
En hoe draai die trein om?
Die lokos was stert aan stert gekoppel. So met die terugkeer was die ander lolo voor. Later het ons verander na een stoom loko voor met 'n Transnet diesel agter hom. So met die terugkeer was die diesel voor.
Love that sound can never get enough of it. Unusually the second locomotive is facing the wrong way
Marval Mhlongo, wrong way?
Why does the premier classe need two power cars though?
Marval Mhlongo I can't tell for sure, but maybe due to the length of the train which is fully air-conditioned, seperate kitchen car, dining room plus two bar cars. Could be that only one was operational with the other being taken back to JHB.
It doesnt. That one at the back is a baggage car.
My first job as Signal Engineering Technician along this line.....Memories....back in 1998-1999...
Was it a good job?
Nice to see steam and diesel working together. I'm doing the elgin trip on Saturday.
Yes, it's awesome! Enjoy your trip. 🚂⏹️⏹️⏹️⏹️⏹️⏹️⏹️⏹️
Thanks. I certainly did and I look forward to many more.
I was the signals and telecoms engineer on this line in the '80s. It had a few unique features for a South African system at the time: radio comms with the driver, dragging equipment detectors every 10km, effective maximum demand regulation which saved many millions of Rands
Never would have guessed you were involved here! Must have been awesome.
The blue train being hauled by 18 locomotives is something beautiful😍😍😍. I especially love that blower sound, something the new class of 20-23Es are missing
Why does the train use the cable lines? I never seen that. Does it make the train move fast?
I am not sure what you are referring to.
This train looks old and it move slow. Not like the American Amtrak train 😂
Thank you for your comment. The train is in maintained in pristine condition and cannot be compared with the Acela which is an express passenger commuter train. This is a world renown luxury sleeper train, mostly boarded by international tourists. The Amtrak and Via sleeper trains in the US and Canada do not even come close to it and I have travelled on both of them. The low speed has nothing to do with the Blur Train, but a speed restriction applicable to all trains leaving Cape Town Station due to multiple switches and slip crossings that is typical of numerous lines coming together at the Main Station which is the end of the line. You may have a closer look at the Blue Train at www.bluetrain.co.za
I really enjoyed watching this. :D
Thank you Leighs, I appreciate you comment. We now do regular trips to Elgin with Ceres Rail.
criminal - this should have received beneficiation to employ thousands - instead, a selfish few are extraordinarliy rich through this line. I am not shooting the photographer - 'he done a good thing' - highlighting the sheer immensity of the lie!
Great sound clips! I must admit though that I do miss the sound of Jenny's original whistle. Lol.
Very NICE! It brings a whole new perspective and view to the layout. Imagine, if you would, you were a little person driving the train. This is what you would see. And you see areas on the layout in a different view.
nice
Thank you.

Nice shot bro 👌 Subscribed you. Also support my channel nipra production. . . . loving rail 😊 Rail fan supports rail fan
Can ek maar share op CTYC bladsy?
Dankie Chris!!
Please help - I am trying to track down one of the Sishen-Saldanha movie clips in which Dean Gounden, the driver, is interviewed, and also depicting what happens when the train tops a low gradient along the line. If you can direct me, pleast just post the URL here and I will find it. Thanks!
UFEZELA I have not seen the clip, sorry.
I belie that this is their diesel loco with the petrol fuelled lawn mower motor. I also rode behind it a few times in the past.
I believe that their diesel loco with the lawn mower motor.
Joshua Preyser correct!
Nice. I rode behind it quite a few times in the past when I was there.
I also rode behind a few of their steam locos when I was there in the past. I've unfortunately been so busy recently that I haven't had a chance to go back there and ride their trains. Hopefully I will get a chance in the future when I'm not so busy.
Love that blower sound and the echo...
Reese Lourens, yes quite awesome!
Very cool! Loved it.
Great video!
Nice! I have a few too taken at Lamberts Bay.
Wow, 5 locos and 352 cars.. It's very long
A very professional production. Well done!
