I LOVE the way you talked about our hair!! I’ve always said that all hair is “good hair”(black ppl) we just have to take care of it. I fell in love with my hair once I started my locs. I started noticing how ALL textures were beautiful and unique. I love this for us! I really wish all of us would look at ourselves and see the beauty and not try to seperate each other by the texture of our hair.

How long did u keep the braids in?

Speak the truth. Especially for 4c sisters we get addicted to wigs, weaves, crochet extensions, etc. I'm low maintenance so I'm kind of getting tired of having other hair on my end.

I've been in love with my faux locs and crochet locs for years and my own hair is really long. It has led me to want to on this journey. But it will be years before my starter locs look like the mature styles

Oh poor girl, and she actually looks really pretty. It's definitely a mental thing. Just think when we feel like our own hair is not for us or when we twist out own hair she says it doesn't look done. I really thought it was soooo cute on her.

You have to be ready for this "journey". I've always loved lox and dated a man with lox but never loxed because he was - I did it in my time, when I was ready. Fortunately for me, I loved every phase of this process.

Thanks for the inspiration sis. After 7 years being loxed I thought I would try a hair style which I made up myself for a party. My hubby loved it and couldn't stop complimenting me all night, so thank you and all the other loxed sistren out there putting out the tutorials - it's really appreciated. Bless

I love my micro locs which are waist length. At the time 5 years ago I wanted sister locs but the cost and trying to maintain 500 plus locs was not in the plan. 😅 I want to cut them to right below bra strap length but I will never cut them to bob length because I maintain my locs by interlocking them.Ladies love your locs.

I took my mother to Macy's a few months ago, and we saw a few young women dressed impeccably. But then they had a bonnet on. My mom is 77. She just shook her head. I couldn't believe it. They were looking through clothes racks without a care in the world. People were looking at them crazy that day. 😂

Exactly! People have kept up the narrative that black women can't grow their natural hair long that when you do show it off, the haters are going to hate. I hold my scalp like that when I get it washed, especially when the water is hotter or colder than I expected.

Not true what you said about tea tree oil. There are only 2 essential oils that can be used directly on the skin and that's Tea Tree Oil and Lavender Oil 😉

I appreciate your number point but I went into having locs installed knowing I didn't want to maintain them. I know many people like me also. Just like when I put braids in my hair for years, I never intended on braiding my own hair. I have now been sisterlocked for 7 years and I have never retightened my own hair, even during the pandemic. My hair is close to my waist now and I have never, not once blow dried it either since having my sisterlocks installed. Maybe it dries faster because the locs are small but as long as I make sure I spend time outside after I wash them, they completely dry within hours. They have never smelled bad either.

This is a good topic, I think for women who are used to neatness and getting there hair done on a regular basis should not jump into getting locs. I had been natural since 09 I knew what the natural process involved. I knew neatness was not a part of this process, and I wanted a lower maintenance natural alternative.

I Love Freeform Locs❤❤ But my hair grows outside my loc, which mean I need to retwist every 2 to 3 months. I Love the Art of Freeform Locs.

You spoke so many truths. Its all about self acceptance period. I think it comes with age. I went natural when I was in my early 30s. Now I started my loc journey. Yes our hair is the only hair like this. That blew my mind when I realized that, and why I never realized such an obvious fact.
