      Not at all, most radiators are over sized in the UK, due to better insulation since the advent of heating in the 70s My home runs rads at a 40c flow temp and my wife like a steady 23c

      @@davewellsheatingengineer But the Heat Load ( heat loss ) will setup the flow temperature . With oversized radiator you can reduce the flow temperature , of course , but in the end the heat loss it’s the most important factor .

    • @davewellsheatingengineer
      @davewellsheatingengineer 3 месяца назад

      @luk5827 running at a lower temperature keeps the boiler running in its most efficient mode (condensing) it also increases reliability, we see it on every service, expansion vessels don't loose pre charge, combustion chamber clean, AAvs not crusty or leaking.. I could go on. Running where possible (dependant on property heat loss and emmiter outputs permitting) is without question a far better way to use a heating system

    • @luk5827
      @luk5827 3 месяца назад

      @@davewellsheatingengineer I’m agree 100% with you ! The target it’s to run the boiler as lower flow temperature as possible . But this depends of house heat loss value , depends of heated surface of house , outside temperature , inside desired temperature , settings of gas boiler ( maximal power of gas boiler need to be limited from parameter settings ) , gas boiler modulation range and so on . With radiant heating ( underfloor heating ) and a Passive House you can have a really low flow temperature .

    Hi, I have a valiant eco tech that keep coming up with water pressure fault. British Gas have been 3 times First time they replaced the inverter valve as it was leaking but this didn’t solve the problem, 3 weeks later I called them again and they replaced the pressure sensor and few weeks later had the same problem so I called them again, they came and changed the pressure settings so i don’t have the f75 fault but again few weeks later the issue reappeared. No visible water leaks around the house or any damp patches etc. What else could it be ? Appreciate your help 😃

    • @davewellsheatingengineer
      @davewellsheatingengineer 6 месяцев назад

      Hi I assume your boiler is losing pressure (or at least the display is saying it is) Does your boiler have a pressure guage on the front? If it does does it read approximately the same? F75 pressure can not be adjusted, it is what it is.. The causes of F75 are leaking pipes, radiator valves and joints, it doesn't have to be much to reduce the pressure low enough for the boiler to go to fault to protect itself. Check all your radiator valves for any signs of leakage, this doesn't have to be wet but sometimes shows a crusting around the valve. It can also be a leaking Auto air vent in the boiler. It can also be a pump inside the boiler starting to fail. The boiler needs to see that it had enough pressure in it before it does anything, if not you will get f75. If it says there is enough pressure it will then operate the pump, the pump should generate an additional .3 of a bar pressure, if it doesn't it will fault to f75. Get a good vaillant specialist or call Vaillant (or me if I'm in your area lol) Best wishes

    Don’t know if you can help David,but twice now my boiler has failed to come on,but the strangest thing is that no water comes out of my hot tap (even cold water)not even a drip,have you come across this problem before?.Then all of a sudden i have water coming from the hot tap and the boiler works without doing anything to it after maybe one or two hours.We have very low water pressure in the the water main outside 1.6 bar to my water meter in my driveway.Could it be that if there’s a problem (like a water leak)and the mains pressure drops below the required pressure this would stop the boiler operating.It’s very strange especially the fact that no water either hot or cold comes out of the hot tap.Have you come across this problem before.

      @@davewellsheatingengineer It’s not the refill pipe that is the problem,the problem is that when the boiler doesn’t work,no water goes through it to the hot taps not even a drip all my hot taps in my house are completely dry.I think it might be because of the pressure in the water main as after a while 1 or 2 hours water appears at the taps and the boiler works.Maybe because the pressure has gone up in the water mains.I have spoken with the guy who services the boiler and he’s not sure.Would the water pressure to the boiler cause this?

    • @davewellsheatingengineer
      @davewellsheatingengineer 9 месяцев назад

      @@stephenwright2056 the refill valve on the right is a diverter, it diverts water from the main supply that usually goes through your boiler to filling topping the pressure up, it is very likely this valve has either developed a fault or been left in the on position. • @stephenwright2056
      @stephenwright2056 9 месяцев назад

      @@davewellsheatingengineer Them valves haven’t been touched they are in the off position.They are not the problem,the boiler simply doesn’t turn on and no water (and being the boiler isn’t on it would be cold )is in the hot taps no drips or any water at all.Then a bit later (this time 1 or 2 hours) the boiler starts up.I think it’s the water pressure from the cold water main that’s got reduced pressure and that pressure isn’t enough for the boiler.I have 1.6 bar at my water meter,i suspect that the water pressure is reduced possibly because of a leak or reduced pressure from down the pipeline.Because even if the boiler doesn’t work i should still get cold water through the hot taps.Thanks for your interest.Do you know if the water pressure isn’t enough would i still get cold water through the boiler to the hot taps.

    SORTED ... 🤔 So, I think I finally figured out that the CH Scheduling on the boiler takes a kind of "master control". When setting the schedule on the actual boiler, the black markers in the schedule allow the boiler to be on and listen for commands from the thermostats schedule! If there is no small black bar the boiler does not operate or listen to the smart thermostat. When there is a black bar the boiler is listening to the thermostat, so when the room temperature goes lower than the thermostats setting or the override feature is used, the boiler hears the command and fires up. The mobile App is also now connected, it's a little flakey but picks up the internet most of the time now. Even managed to get it to fire up the boiler with the boost function (once the black markers had been set properly on the boiler) 😃

  • @Colour247
    @Colour247 9 месяцев назад

    Thanks for the video, CH override did not seem to work. Said it was in override but boiler didnt fire up. Also having issues with the Mobile App - wireless connects but does not connect to the internet, says that the connection is unstable yet the signal is full strength. Seems pretty poor to me. How have you found the smart plus control system?
