1/72 Aurora Piper Cherokee 180

Decided to make this model to the plane I did many flying hours with. And somewhat close to its exact livery to add to my collection. Overall happy with the model, decals were old and damaged, if I wanted to use them would’ve been tough. But it was a fun little model to build. If you find one get it. Prepare to add weights, do putty filling and sanding. Cheers and enjoy. Tune in for more to come
Looks just like the real thing. I wish there were more model kits for the CH-146. I can't even find a kit for the Bell 412 which it's based off of.
Building this one now. Still trying to decide which paint scheme I'm going to go with. Great job.
It’s be awhile. Do you think you will do any more videos? I have enjoyed what you did
Amazing!🤩 where did you purchase this? I’d like to purchase this
searchlight's on the wrong side
Not a what if anymore
Lovely looking model, I am new to Vac form models, what glues do you use for the fuselage halves and wings…
Beautiful Job !
I worked on the Canadian Hercs for ten years. I noticed there are two seats in the navigator position when in reality there is only one. There is a upper bunk and a lower bunk.
Did you paint the RAM coatings or used a decal? The RAM coating decals are not light gray for me
ah yes, a legendary plane my grandpa flew
As someone who went inside an Aurora during a Cadet trip today, I was delighted to see this today! Super neatly done
I love this guy
Nice one👍🇳🇿
Nice one mate👍✈️🇳🇿
i'm in the mitts of building the exact kit, i'm an Oshawa resident by the way. your video i believe was not complete for what ever reason, but i have a couple of questions. did you mount the floor and if so how difficult, second you do not show how you mounted the lowering deck at the rear of the plane. did you close it off completely or did you mount it lowered and again how difficult and do you have instructions. when viewing on my lap top i could not see your glue ups it only showed your desk top not sure if this was on purpose or your camera was off. thanks in advance for your reply. Hope we see more builds in the future. Allan
I had 3 of these models. Did the first as RL 201, the second in 80's grey as it might have appeared then, and I think the 3rd was an attempt at Nato camouflage colours similar to mid-60s NATO squadrons. They had pretty much dried out when we purged and downsized a few years ago, and were falling apart, so they got scrapped. Seems appropriate since that's how the Arrows met their ends in real life.
Just wondering what paint color you used for the RCAF grey?
u ever consider that diecast model thats painted and everything?
Dude, you did as well as anyone could, but it doesn't look right. It's not your fault, the sad, historical fact is that no other aircraft has been so inaccurately represented by the plastic model industry. The 1958 Aurora model was completely misleading and at a wild scale to fit their standard box. The Hobbycraft kits, although in common scales of 1/72 and 1/48, are embarassingly bad likenesses. Aurora had the excuse that factory drawings were secret at the time, but accurate drawings for both the Mk 1 and Iroquois-powered Mk 2 have been available since the late `70s - why did Hobbycraft apparently never refer to them? A-a-r-g-h!😡
Where did you get the paint for the exterior?
I want it where do I get it
Who makes the colour kit in the cockpit?
It was bough from eBay. By Eduards Coloured photo etched parts
id like to know what is the kind of the material
Plastic
I still want to do up a Voodoo and Arrow in modern livery
That’s a great idea. Maybe that’s something I’ll try on this channel soon
There is only one seat at the Nav position on the RCAF herc and an extra bunk below the other bunk...spent 19 years at CFB Trenton working on these A/C..
Thank U for your service sir. I am soon starting to build the Canadian J model. Any info and heads up on details would be highly appreciated Thanks
I probably know you lol. If I built this kit I would make it triple pig 333.
Great job...
i like this review . No music , only comments.
This is a sick joke.
Great job! Did it come with the Canadian roundels?
No I ended up using a set of markings from Leading Edge Models for this project
Looks great. Where did you get your Canadian markings?
Thank you, I did have some 1/72 decal kits from Leading Edge Models laying around so I used those They worked well, just gotta make sure you get the paint right so it contrasts well. I assume now the real thing will have something similar as far as paint is concerned
Seems like it is not a what if any longer
Nice! Can you make a “what if model” for the euro fighter typhoon?
Thanks Yea that’s definitely something to look for in the future. However for Canadian government the eurofighter was never an option. But it would certainly be a good one
@@canadianscalemodellercsm5580 If I remember correctly, It was possible at one point but was dropped, Though I could be wrong.
Nice!... we still fly the C130H with our RNZAF 👍🇳🇿
Do you have any more of those leading edge laying around?! Some are for sale for more than $100 bucks 😬
They are becoming very rare, and quite expensive especially on eBay. Usually we find them locally here in Canada from guys who sell them on local sites , they still are expensive
Could you scan your instrution of this plane and send my on e-mail?
For sure. Send me your email
Nice job
Nice Job on this What if build.. The Gripen is definitely one of my favorite 4.5 gen aircraft would certainly love to find a model of one.
I love this what if. You beat me to it. I love the idea of what ifs. Keep them coming eh. Awesome job on the Canadian Gripen.
Excellent build! As a Brazilian, I'd be honoured if Canada joined the Gripen operators club along with us.
Thank you Yes you guys have been flying the Gripen. I’m a big fan. Let’s see what our government decides Thanks
Very cool build 👏👏
I'd like to by this for a birthday present for my father who was around these machine while in the Airforce. My 50 year old hands are not steady enough to do such a great job(even if I could find a kit). Please make contact me if you still have this model. We are out in Western BC. I know he'd love it. Thanks for your time. Phil
Hi Phil. I do still have the model, send me an email to Canadian.scale.modeller@gmail.com so we can further discuss. I’m always looking forward to thank our veterans for their service and sacrifice Cheers
The man at start made this for my dad. Rare older footage of Canadian Coast Helicopter operations in early '90s. Some parts are worth skipping through, but some parts are kinda neat. ruclips.net/video/C-A2YIDkkew/видео.html
Was gloss applied before decals? Sometimes the film catches on the rough paint and causes damage as well as silvering.
What brand and color did you use? I’m still trying to find that right cf-18 color
When it comes to making Demo cf-18s I like to use plain Tamiya XF-80 XF-82 and XF-83. Since the demo Jets relatively clean and not much weathering , they work well When it comes to making the regular markings CF-18. I use the same 3 paints mentioned above but I mix them a little. I find they accept weathering better and looks more real Try it out Thanks
I got the same exact model kit myself, definitely planning to build it at some point.
It’s a lot of fun, great model to sit it next other models on your shelf Just watch out for the decals. Use hot water and micro sol and set Enjoy
@@canadianscalemodellercsm5580 Thanks for the advice! Might also come in handy with my 1:72 CF-100 Canuck model as well.
@@noahsaunders3919 should have that video up here too some day. Of that build , Should give you an idea. These are old kids. A lot to watch out for. Most imp are the decals. A lot of care and love with them. Happy building
Great Job 💪
WOW! I absolutely love this plane! Deeply appreciate your detail and effort to build this masterpiece!
🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆 Simply amazing!
🙌🤝👌🍻
My nephew served on this plane in the RCAF I'm going to build one for him as a thank you
