I don't know why Packard went out of business but it coming back in 2025

I would have loved to see the engines in some of these. The museum I worked for had a 41 Packard Limo used in the Manhattan Project. It was a custom-made nine-passenger car that we found as a complete basket case and had it restored. I love these cars. What a great period in automotive history. I like the 50s Packard's too!

THE works of art Packards from the 20s and 30s DO NOT MIX with the FUGLY "Packards" (many of which were really NOT Packards but much lesser Studebakers) from the 50s. The fugly ones ruined the whole cruise. Sorry to bring you bad news, but you need to exercise your GOOD TAsTE once in a while.

The 1955 Buick Century patrol cars used in the first year of the Highway Patrol TV series were actually never sold to the public and were labeled by Buick as "Model 68-Two-Door Tourback Sedan". 270 of these Buick Century 2 door sedans were manufactured exclusively for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) in 1955, 135 manual trannies and 135 Dynaflow autos. The 2 door Tourback sedan body was already being used in the entry level Buick Special and is far from rare, given that over 60 thousand were manufactured for the '55 model year. The Buick Century, 4 port-hole, 2 door sedan models used by the CHP were owned by the California Highway Patrol and loaned to the studio for the filming of the Highway Patrol TV series. The studio would cover the CHP embelin with a generic HP stick-on embelin. What you are looking at, in the video portion of the post, is a hardtop Riviera, a much more deluxe vehicle than the 2 door sedans used in the TV series. The 2 door sedan has a B pillar unlike the open hardtop (Riviera) in the video. Unfortunately, since it was never sold to the public, there were no road tests ever published. Also, though "Fireball" Roberts drove a '55 Buick Century in the '55 NASCAR racing series, it was the hardtop Century because only stock production vehicles sold to the public were eligible to race. So, the Buick in the picture is a Buick Century Riviera hardtop with added black and white paint, spotlights and base level dog-dish hubcaps, but is not an exact replica. The last I heard, there were only about 4 surviving former CHP vehicles in existence. Excellent points made. Agree. True car was designed for the street for guys with no competition experience. Why modifying cars for Surrey use is a water. The rear seats are just "place holders put there do there's no empty spaces heh... Yes you can still put stuff there.. And maybe your in-law lol

i had 54 in high school in 1963 nyc it was a piece of junk ..the heater rotted out of the dash and fell in the floor still worked ..no power .. i left it in the streets

I bought a Red one and absolutely love it! It’s everything he said in the review and more. It looks fantastic and super fast in the corners. It’s so much fun and can still haul the entire family around in comfort. A home run by Toyota.

The reason you need a range of more than 120 miles is because if you have a full tank and ride out of town to see the countryside or to visit somebody on a 30-mile trip, you come back with 1/2 a tank. So, suppose you want to do another one like that. That means a trip to the gas station, and for what? for a 30-mile trip.

I bought a '41 180 Le Baron Sport Brougham in1957 from Gene Matlack near Honeybrook PA for $160.00. It was still quite nice but not all the power windows worked. Mine did not have twin side mounts, however. Donald Rook from Philadelphia had on like it and his was in one of "The Godfather" movies.

Nice review, enjoyed it, but not the proper procedure for shutting the front compartment! Have to let it down to make contact then use two fingers, one on each side of the Porsche emblem, to fully close it. Doesn't close like a hood of a front engined car.

That 1934 Dietrich is superb. Packards are wonderful cars but few were made to that level and the condition is perfect. .

That first guy said he had his Club Coupe since 1983. He only looks to be in his early to mid 50's. I wonder if bough it as a teenager in high school? Perhaps it was a project car that he worked on for years to restore!

Hopefully these cars are not in all the freak snow storm areas that is now killing people and many fires that have come about as they try to rescue these poor folks. I am not a person who cares about California, but the people don't deserve to die for their choice of living in a over taxed state, one that has in my personal impression, taken freedom away from everyone whether they live there or not. This is a large state with heavy influence on the people of washington dc. I just wonder how many people will stay there after this horrible event.
