The Movie Loft Podcast

Available on all streaming platforms - The Movie Loft Podcast features three Boston boys, Tony, Phil and Thom, in an old barn loft talking about '80s movies and memories.
The name and premise is also a nod to a titular Boston institution, The Movie Loft, featuring Dana Hersey, which ran on WSBK TV-38 throughout our “salad days”. This project started as an excuse to capture our conversations for posterity. Highlighting a different movie in each episode, we revisit some long forgotten memories, and in the process weave together a documentary of our formative years.
The point of this show is not to walk anyone through a movie scene by scene - we’re well aware you’ve been watching these flicks for decades. The aim is to discuss our deep appreciation for what it took to get each picture made, where we were when we experienced them, and how they’re a part of the zeitgeist of their times. Hopefully you’ll finish each episode feeling like you had a seat at our table.

Nosferatu & Running Scared 1986
I'm splashing out four dollars for going six minute over my plan this month....you better appreciate it. Whatever your favorite six minutes may be, imagine that is where I spent all that extra scratch, just for you.
On Christmas night, we went to see Nosferatu in the theater for a TMLP field trip. And although Robert Eggers had us huddled together and quaking with fear afterward in the lobby, we still had something left in the tank. Enter Running Scared, a 1986 Peter Hyams epic tale starring Gregory Hines and Billy Crystal. The cast is rounded out nicely by Steven Bauer, Joe Pantoliano, Dan Hedaya, Jimmy Smith and our true hero, Jonathan Gries.
And there may just be a very special guest at...

I fucking hate mean drunks. Whole family turn into c*nts whereas i just want to be friends and get laid. Im a guy that will go hard once i feel disrespected, ive spent half my life in the joint so i actually appreciate the seriousness of situations. So i have the 3 strikes rule. I will apologize andvtry to make peace 3 times before i decide to bring it to the next level. My rule is either go to a bar where you are completely known and liked or wherevim completely NOT KNOWN, no in between. Always take out cash first and dontvbring my card. @@TheMovieLoftPodcast actually my brother and hunkashit father both live in Tel Aviv on the Orange Line. Although I don't know if theres still a Jewish Community up there is there? Maybe they're Kaifeng Jews. I'm dating a gal from the Victorian House capital of the world Melrose. Dude you should wrangle up the old Movie Loft music for your show. You should do it like the Movie Loft, actually play some of those old school Peckinpah ones, they wouldn't copyright strike you for stuff you can find on Tubi. Or would they. Then you should actually change your name to Dana Hersey.....okay I went a step too far
@@FrithonaHrududu02127 if I could find that music I would definitely use it in some way. I've already used Dana's voice in the Terminator opening. So I'm either going to hell or court for that.
I saw this movie as a double feature at the neponset drive in in Dorchester. I think the other movie to play was American. Werewolf in London, but I can't remember. HBO or the other cable station was Star, which eventually became The Movie Channel. You either got one or the other. There weren't any other channelsThat was it..In the second one the kids in The Raft were coming from Horlicks University which is the same college as The Crate. When I was 14 I worked in Maine for a summer, I had an arrest warrant down her (southie) so I took a bus to Bangor and I had a 3 hour layover in Bangor before they picked me up for the drive up to past Moosehead. So I brought all my SK books . I figured I'd just ring the bell. The fence thwarted me but lo and behold who pulls up...but Tabitha King. She had kids with her. She actually stopped to tell me he wasn't home but , I had her book, the trap or something like that and she was surprised and signed it for me.
The actual movie loft used to play "Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia" "Straw Dogs" and "The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane" and "Alice Sweet Alice"
So you must remember the actual Movie Loft with Dana Hersey on channel 38? Youre from Salem Village....you can do The Witch, maybe my single favorite horror movie.

@@TheMovieLoftPodcast I definitely will. I'm from Southie but I usex to Scuba Dive out of Danvers. In Hindsight The Movie Loft showed quality movies, I actually used to have a friend that had a loft type apartment down fort point channel that we called the Groovy Loft. Do you remember Willy Whistle? Sweet Christ that was Awful. Local television is such a rich horror vein to mine.
@@FrithonaHrududu02127 I definitely remember Willy Whistle. Like it was yesterday. Captain Bob and all else. I worked in the World Trade Center from 90 to 94. I still have dreams about how desolate it felt when I would walk to South Station instead of take the shuttle between the two.
