Anyone here 2024!
❤❤
I’ve never thought of this before - but Karen had a cello-type voice when most women’s voices were more like violins. And that Cello voice really stood out then, and it stands out now.❤
カーペンターズがホワイトハウスで、演奏したという事は、以前から知っていましたが、まさか、50年過ぎてそのビデオを観る事が出来るとは、思いませんでした。 ありがとうございます。
LOVELINES is a jumble of an album that did NOT benefit from having four of Karen's solo songs "Carpenterized" then slapped on it. And the lie told that "Karen decided to shelve it" infuriates me to this day. It was such a blow to her already fragile self-esteem that A&M greeted the album with stone-cold SILENCE when she and Phil hosted the playback and decided it wasn't commercial enough for release. Even if it hadn't done well on the charts, Karen getting her project to the public would have been a welcome jolt of positivity for her. It wouldn't have saved her life, but it would have enhanced it greatly. REST IN POWER, KC. 🥁🎤🎶🤍
♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏♥️🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Love and miss you, Karen ! ♥️💐
She was so special... I heard that Steve Martin really loved her but Richard got in the way.
I think that's John Bettis at the 3:26 mark. Him and Richard wrote the lyrics for "Top Of The World", "Yesterday Once More" and "Goodbye To Love"
Wow, so many are gone, *not* just Karen Carpenter!
I didn't know this video was about her dead, I love her so much I can't watch it 😔
the confidence she gets behind the drums raises her voice to an even greater level… if that’s even possible. she was so talented ❤️
Wat een warme stem Martine
Interesting to hear such a early interview of them where they are so opinionated. what a great find thank you
Mooi begin was zeker vrijdagavond
That's a lie, Richard. Karen was devastated at shelving the album.
❤️ Goeie herinneringen ❤️
Carpenter looks animated- hard to believe she got the die not even 1 month later on feb 4, 1983- maybe she was galvanized? Lennon had been murdered at the end of 1980 and Chapman did not get a very good rnraw and d2bw service- but instead one suggesting he "do it"
Karen’s KCB monogram on her sun glasses.
If she was 'over' the eating disorder, why'd they find Ducolax in her system in massive amts?
Amazing video, Karen was so young and pretty 😍
Did anyone ever do A video of the MGM shows she did in 1978 or so?
@@iampuzzleman282 I have a audio recording originated from a tape i digitized on my channel.
@@chrisbruinsma2376 I couldn't find it. You have an interesting collection of videos posted.
@@iampuzzleman282 Thank you. Here’s the link: ruclips.net/video/hCL9pspRAEg/видео.htmlsi=ROPmp1XojIgO4_AZ
@@chrisbruinsma2376 thank you very much, listened to the beginning about where she invites An audience member to help with opening buttons on her shirt which is interesting. I guess that was back in a time where videos of Las Vegas shows never really done which is kind of odd. I'll give it a good thorough listen thanks very much for doing all this work
This would be around 1998 - that's 15 years after Karen passed at age 32. Richard is 3 years older than Karen, so he's about 50 in this TV commercial and still very slim, handsome, and recognizable as the Richard we remember from the 'hey day' of the Carpenters. But you can hear his voice is deeper than it was when he was 30ish. That happens to some men in middle age.
In the end her troubled Life and all her suffering ended up contributing to no doubt saving a lot of peoples lives as well as improving overall health for so many, maybe this was her greatest contribution
7:25 so sad. Wish she was able to do the things she wanted to do in the future
Toen was LINKS nog heel gewoon!!!
Such a talented musician!!! His performance of The Warsaw Concerto in a concert in London was fabulous! He could have been a concert pianist for sure.
💕 💞 ♥️ 💕 💞 ♥️ 💕 💞 ♥️ 💕 💞 ♥️ 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
it was a good cry listening to this recording and remembering karen, if only she was around until this very day😢 thank you for digitising this recording❤
I was 13 in 1974 .I thought karen was so hot . She was my first celebrity crush...
The greatest singer ever handing out a award too a good singer. Karen should have won all the awards.
Shame video recording was not invented when this was done.
Did Merv interview them and is this video somewhere? Song wasn't the greatest

Quite a find here! She is surprisingly good on this number -- and she was only18!
I love hearing them both talk candidly. It's like rare gold but good Lord they have never had a good interviewer. This guy is just f'ing terrible. He's not even listening to their answers.
Richard was creepy. Why was he always around his sister?! Strange for him to be floating around his sisters interview's for her own wedding?! We all know the truth. The carpenter family had dark secrets. Anorexia is usually called by molestation...😢😢😢
., they showcase both class and enormous talent timeless music
Cool
I love Karen Carpenter still. May she be in Heaven and know how loved she is there and hear.
This was a very revealing interview. I learned a lot about their thoughts and personality. Now I understand them better as they were in their youth, before success, fame, and stressful touring took its toll on them. …I won’t mention how adorable Karen was…
Richard Carpenter is a strange guy. He has a vault of unreleased Karen Carpenter vocals and demo's (like her studio version of "Thank You For The Music") which Richard refuses to release because he is a "perfectionist"...yet he has no problem hocking junk on QVC?! Give the fans what they really want Richard!!!
Oh, how i wish we got a studio recorded version of "Thank You For The Music"!!😢😢😢
Same !! The closest we have is the performance on The Tonight Show
@amazingstarzz I believe Richard Carpenter does have a recorded demo version...but he is a stickler perfectionist and refuses to release hundreds of Karen demo's from his vault 😪😪😪
Der "junge Mann" Willy Brandt war damals knapp 60 Jahre alt.
What a find !!! After this interview, the carpenters Richard and Karen were rained in by the record company. Never again would you hear them talk about their personal opinions on so many different topics. Such as religion politics society. It was a smart move by the record company. By voicing your personal opinions on so many controversial topics you really open yourself up to unneeded criticism. Voicing your opinion so strongly can alienate potential record, buyers and negatively affect record sales !
Karen struggled with Anorexia throughout her professional life. Anorexia was not fully understood as an eating disorder linked to mental health at the time Karen was struggling with it in the mid 1970's to the end of her life in 1983. Her condition deterioated around 1975-1976 when she collapsed on stage at one point. She was taken into hospital and put on an IV for nutrition which put a strain on her already weakened heart muscle. Karen confided to her brother Richard in 1983 shortly before she died that year that she was ill and had a problem she needed help with. She was under a psychologist in New York briefly who was working with her closely and things seemed to be looking up. She confessed to her psychologist that she was taking up to 90 laxatives a day and abusing prescription thyroid tablets to speed up her metabolic rate. The Dr took her medications off her and told her to follow a strict diet of high carbs but she ignored his advice. When she collapsed in her bedroom walk-in closest in 1983 her heart rate slowed to 1 beat every 10 seconds. She was rushed to hospital but went into a coma and cardic arrest and passed away. Anorexia is a mental health disorder that affects primarily young women and younger teenage girls. It usually presents as an irrational negative self-perception around body size and how women feel about themselves. A feeling of 'being fat' and unattractive even when body weight is normal or below a healthy body weight. It's far more complex than that though usually and there's other factors at work which cause purging and unhealthy weight loss and diets to cope with insecurities and feelings of low self-worth or life-stressers. Towards the end of her life Karen had two major setbacks with the failure of her solo career and solo album in 1979 which wasn't well received, and then the failure of her marriage which ended after just 14 months. These setbacks would have been major factors that worsened Karen's already severe Anorexia disorder, as she began purging as an unhealthy way of coping with stresses. Her autopsy showed she had dangerously high blood sugar to a toxicity level which most likely would have developed into Diabetes Disease if she had lived longer. Once a person's body weight drops 15% or more to below the low-end of a normal healthy BMI for height and age it leads to muscle wastage and puts a strain on the heart and other organs in the body. The body eventually begins to break down fat tissue followed by muscle tissue to compensate for insufficient calories and nutrients in diet. With prolonged Anorexia this can cause a metabolic blood toxicity in the body,, as well as weakened heart and compromised heart function as in Karen's case. Anyone strugglng with anorexia should reach out to their family doctor and seek referral to a professional as the illness is now much better understood and easier to treat if caught early.
