I am an Eclectic Crone who loves to make things, do things, and find joy in the every day.
I recently got divorced after 30+ years of marriage and took myself on an adventure to live a fulfilling life free of debt (monetary and energetic/emotional) and moved to Selma, Alabama. I bought a 127 year old house and am finding joy in bringing her back to life with DIY projects, home improvements, paint, fabric, and lots of love. I also love to share insights on living alone, saving money, living sustainably, making a big mid-life change and living bold and brave as a middle age single woman!

Bathroom Reveal! FINALLY!
Просмотров 173Месяц назад
It's been a long hot summer and this just added to the chaos. A 2-3 week project dragged into a two month ordeal. Contractors not showing up to do the work, not doing the work as asked, and not ordering the correct quantity or type of supplies. I've also included a quick, easy sewing project to take your bathroom to a higher, more luxurious level. Vanity: www.homedepot.com/p/Home-Decorators-Col...

It's been a chaotic summer here around Casa Spiral Path. I've been super busy getting items made for the event I am vending at this weekend. Custom capes, one-of-a-kind Witch's Hats, hand-stitched journals. AND MORE! Machine embroidery designs are from Urban Threads or Embroidery Library. Many items are now live on my website! www.spiralpathhealingarts.com/shop

Summer Vacation to Michigan Haul
Просмотров 67Месяц назад
It's been a weirdly short summer. I've been distracted by lots of various things. I apologize for my absence. One thing that took me away from my channel was my annual trip to Michigan to visit family. My Dad turned 90 and I spent time in the lovely, peace and quiet of the North Woods. While there, I hit a few stores, estate sales, and thrift shops. Let's see what I found!

Creating My Budget for 2024 and Planning for the Future
I loved paper piecing. I made a king size top. As I negation to quilt it, we had a house fire. Most of my quilt fabric survived, but, my purple quilt top did not. It is becoming a lost art. Thank you for sharing
Too much talking jn this video. I could have had this completed during story hour.
Thanks for the tip about working in small sections - I have enjoyed completing around 2000 hexis so far and they are ready for me to combine for a random bed throw for my daughter, which seemed somewhat daunting. Do you have any ideas on how to complete the edges - perhaps make half hexis? BTW, when thread basting, I only pick up the fabric above the paper (not stitching all the way through) that way there is no basting to remove later on as the basting can remain hidden on the back side.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I've been thinking about ways to finish the edges. I'm either going to make half hexes or just turn under the halves that stick out. Great tip about not basting through the template! I'm going to try that. It would work better for the stiff ones.
Your brain works like mine 🤣 🐿️ I have a huge spool like that left over from my upholstery shop! It’s for welt cord. What a great idea to use that💕 Such great ideas! Thank you
Thanks Michelle! The welt cord is stiffer than the usual cotton cord used. It makes a sturdier basket but can be more challenging to sew. My motto is, use what you have.
@@spiralpatharts2633 You’re very welcome! Thank you for sharing your ideas 💕 Oh yeah, the welt cord is much stiffer.
I wonder if you could find a local woodworker, that happens to have a cnc to replicate your rosettes? I did find some on Etsy that look similar to yours. I also found some RUclips videos on replacing window sills, they made it seem pretty straightforward but I know watching and doing are two different things. Either way, I’m sure that whatever you do will be great.
Those are all good ideas. I'm sure I could find rosettes that fit at HD. The biggest problem would be color matching the old wood. I'll show you what I did next week!
Thank you, Beth!!!
Thank you Anne! You're an inspiration to me.
Fabulous!
Thanks Gina!
My gawd the cloaks are amazing. All beautiful!!! 😍 You are amazing too!!
Thank you so much!!
Big cedar tree
These are beautiful! I was looking for a link to your etsy store. Do you have one?
I had one for years but I closed it because I wasn't a fan of their policies. I do have a store on my website but I need to get it updated. Hopefully that will happen this week.
Most of the items are now up on my website: www.spiralpathhealingarts.com/shop Aprons and Tea Towels will be added in the next couple days. Thank you for your interest.
I was glad to hear you say the Norman Jumpsuit was hard to get on and off. I made this for my daughter and she couldn't get it on at all--so I put a zip in the back. problem solved.
Great solution. I think if I make it again I'll add a side zip or buttons to the straps. I still love the overalls.
I had secondhand anxiety for you climbing up there. Progress not perfection!
I still have first hand anxiety! LOL
Watching you from the Netherlands!! Loved the video :) ❤
Yay! So exciting to have international viewers. Thank you for your support. What was your favorite find of mine from this video?
I'm just checking in. Is everything going OK. Haven't seen any posts lately.
Thanks Christine. I have videos recorded but just haven't been able to get them edited and uploaded. It's been a busy summer. If all goes as planned, I should have a new video up this week.
When 2 bowls of the same note are played together, waves should not occur. C, F, and B are most out of tune. D or sacral bowls are an excellent match.
Yes, exactly! I no longer have the rainbow set. I've checked the tuning on my metal bowls and found a few of them off key. I still haven't taken the time to further check the white crystal bowls. I know a couple of them are definitely off.
beautiful review
Jumpsuit is great in Linen!!! Cool and comfortable in Deep South 😊
If I could afford to make an entire wardrobe in linen and seersucker for the hot months I'd be in heaven!
I love your content. You inspire me so.
Wow, thank you!
Nice haul.
Again, way behind on watching everything. This has been saved for longer than I intended. Done is better than perfect. Great work on the projects!
Thank you for this video. I am also a single woman, about your age, and I wanted to see how (awful) the setup would be. It looked like it would be overwhelming, but you made it look so easy. I love your dog and cat, too. Best of luck!
Thanks! I'm glad I could be a bit of an inspiration. Do something every day that scares you!
Very nice and yes, sunshine works very well on white linen for stain removal or reduction.
Yes! Thank you!
It’s a beautiful outfit and I think that color looks beautiful on you! I think the south is really agreeing with you too!
Thanks Ro. I'd agree except the heat and humidity recently is wiping me OUT! And the bugs. I hate the bugs.
@@spiralpatharts2633 as you know, life long southerner here. I could not agree with you more. Bugs are awful. Heat is bad, humidity is worse.
An elderly Italian lady showed me how to clean linens. wet them in warm water and lather with Sunlight bar soap, then lay out the soapy cloth on the lawn and leave it in the sun for a few hours. then wash as usual. works every time.
I love this! I line dry my bedding to help whiten it. I'll give this a try the next time I have a yellowed tablecloth.
Hello! I just found you Beth! I am appreciating all the info for sure! I saw your searsucker dresses from last year and I love the Celeste dress on you. This outfit you are wearing today looks SO comfy!
I'm so glad you're here Valerie! Thank you for the compliments. I love the Celeste dress. It's always my first choice when I need a cool, comfortable dress. I need to make it again.
Hi there, I have just come across your vlog, I feel the style arc jump suit you made is to small for you hence the reason why you have trouble with the on and Off process, if you look at the drawings it is a very loose fit , sorry to be so blunt. Your other makes are nice 🎉
Hi Diana. I agree. I wanted it to be more like the drawing. I had to remake it because the first time my printer settings were wrong and it was WAY too big. So I had to kind of Franken-fit it. Someday I'll give it another shot. 3rd time's a charm! I appreciate your honest feedback. Hope you stick around for more.
Always running behind. You know me. I haven’t worked with felt or wool or silk for that matter but I do or did like dying fabric at one point. Like the method and I may have to try it someday.
This video resonated with me. I love what you shared about stitching your life together. Keep going strong.
Thank you so much! I'm glad my words reached you.
This was immensely helpful. Thank you
So glad!
You are SO INSPIRING. I totally love you.
Love you too! Can't wait to see you this fall. Have a fantastic summer.
I found your channel today and love all your content! You are so talented!
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found me.
I bought the jump suit pattern and was wondering what is the seam allowances for this? Seems like I cannot find it in the instructions.
I just checked my pattern, and it appears to be 3/8". I couldn't find it in the instructions either. I printed the pattern using the tiled function and only printed one size. That gave me a stitch line and a cut line.
Tennessee person here too i have many huge cedars. Thank you for showing me how to make my own smudge sticks
You are so welcome!
Just found your channel because I picked a bunch of mugwort on my property and am trying to figure out what to do with it. I think I’m going to bundle it and dry it and then grind it as a loose herb to use in different workings. Very informative video! Thank you 😊 I just love Lilith! She’s so curious and silly! 😂❤ stop by my channel to say hi! I also make tons of crafty/gardening videos 🌿🧙🏼♀️✨🌹
I will for sure check out your channel! I'm glad I could offer some useful tips. I moved my mugwort to Alabama with me 2 years ago and it is doing great. Time to harvest and make something with it again.
@@spiralpatharts2633 I can't wait to see what you do with it! I subscribed :-D
Oh, I so want to be a person who wears aprons. This one is super cute! I have a clothes pin dress that my grandmother made and then hand painted. Her craft of choice was hand painting on fabrics. I no longer hang my clothes outdoors mostly because of allergies though. I will have to pull the dress out of the closet and send you pictures. I think you would like it as well.
I'd love to see that! I love aprons but never seem to have one on when I need it most. I take a break from line drying during pollen season and when the wind is blowing the stink from the paper plant this direction.
I love your glasses too cute!
On the romper do you like the way it ties in back? I wonder about ease of wearing when you need to pull down to go potty?
Thank you! I like the adjustable ties in back. What I might modify for a future pair would be to add buttons to the straps where they attach to the bib. The pattern does include instructions for this.
Hi . Nice home your ceilings look very high . Are their 12 foot ceilings? I’m very curious how you like the SW. Oak moss paint color. I am thinking about painting a kitchen island this color but I’m a little scared it’s too bright .
Yes, my ceilings are 12.5 feet high! I love the SW Oak Moss color! Not bright at all. Another option that is even deeper is Secret Garden.
@@spiralpatharts2633 Thanks . I will research the color secret garden by SW .
Thank you for a wonderful video! The cat is hilarious
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cute apron, I'm going to make one for myself but use it in the kitchen. I live in Michigan in the city and I can't hang my clothes outside because I live close to the freeway. Take care
Hello fellow Michigander! What part of the state do you live? I still have lots of family up there.
I'm sorry to hear about the loos of your pet. They are more than just pets, and I for one, grieve more for them than I do for people when time runs out. Welcome back!
Thank you. It never gets easy to say goodbye. He was my constant companion for 14 years. I hated seeing him in pain and losing his dignity. But I miss the good old days we had together.
Sounds like you and I are in similar seasons together. Sending you lots of love always.
@@SouthernSparkler Thanks. Safe journey.
Style arc and Itch to Stotxg are my favourite patterns. I enjoyed this video
Thank you! They are favorite too.
Is there a link to order them or the name of the company and price please
I'm sorry. It's been so long since I bought them I don't remember. I don't even own the rainbow set anymore. They were from Amazon.
🐓🐣I’ve got you!!! I’m just going to warn you, they are addictive, chicken math is real but oh my are they rewarding!! Whenever you are ready I’m ready! I’m excited to see your garden come to life (and even more excited to see your homestead come to life). The Backyard Homestead is a good small scale homestead book. Chock full of information. Lots of channels on homesteading as well. I also know a thing or two about water catchment. Can you tell that I’m a little bit excited? lol I adore you!!
Thanks Ro! The garden is coming along. I haven't had time or energy to do much recently.
big blessings on your gardening season!
Thank you! I had a set back with my medicinal seed starts. I'm planning to try again with some of them in the fall. My wood betony and yarrow is doing great!
Love the hair! Cute new duds!! I’m behind again with watching, I stay behind. You will get some watch hours for sure as I make it through my watch later list. (Just warning it’s 400 videos strong atm)
You're the best! I'll be here when you get time!
Cute outfit!! 😍
Thank you!! 😊
Are you actually wearing f@cking slippers while assembling a 100-pound metal scaffold??? FFS.
Yeah, it's definitely not my best decision. My videos are not OSHA approved.
I don’t fit into either of those but I’m commenting anyway. Do I think you are weird for being excited about ironing? Yes. That’s okay though because you are allowed to like what you like. I’m weird too just about different things. The fabrics are beautiful, I even like the goldenrod colored one. I think it would make a cute headband or tea towels. Looking forward to seeing all of the pretty things you make with them.
Ironing, vacuuming, and mopping bring me weirdo joy. Mainly because I can see the results immediately.
I really like this tunic! How do you finish the seams? Do you serge them?
Yes I overlock them with my serger. The instructions have you make French seams which is a great finish. Especially for really loose weave fabric. I just made another one out of a cute purple plaid this winter and was thinking about cutting out a 3rd one today!
Well, I can tell you that we sound alike when we are talking to ourselves through a project! I’m so glad that he likes his refreshed bed!! I really should practice sewing more, I won’t but I should.
Thanks Ro! I did make a second bed and it went together much smoother. Talking it out helps!
