PPF is legit, ceramic is generally a total rip off. Think of ceramic treatment as a wax job that lasts 3-4 months. That said, PPF is also not able to protect your car from actually hitting something substantial. That front end scratch would have also been buffed out of the paint.

if you plan to keep your car for 10-20 years, ppf is a waste. Ceramic coating is ok, but FUSSO wax is the best way to care for you car. Why? PPF is ugly... tiny stones that would be deflected from your paint (depending on the car you drive) sometimes get caught up and potentially tear the PPF. Torn PPF is way more unsightly than a tiny rock chip. If you know how to polish a car, you can easily fix rock chips with touch up paint and a dab of clear coat and some elbow grease. If your car gets really torn up, you just repaint it, insurance will cover it. If you don't want to use insurance, a full front end paint job on a 911 is under 2K. The cost to PPF the front end of a 911 is about 3K in my area. As for ceramic vs wax, that is a no brainer.... no cars at the concours shows use ceramic coatings, they use carnuba wax, some with additives like FUSSO and some pure old school... the downside to wax is it needs to be redone much more frequently than hi end ceramic coatings. But ceramic coatings must be maintained. I use the detail sprays from the same company that made the ceramic coating. Yes, I detail cars... LOL. Who doesn't. If putting plastic on it makes you feel safer, great! Do you! But I mainly care how my cars look, and for them, its just straight up wax and being careful about what roads I take (gravel is SATAN) and following distance to dump trucks. Still, i get a tiny rock chip about once per year... the cummulative effect never acrues as I fix them immediately with OEM touch up paint and clear coat. Have fun out there!

Thank you for this information because I'm struggling with this decision. I've been driver over 40 yrs never had ppf on my vehicles and never had any issues. I realized the vette sits lower than most car especially the front end , but I do t know ow if the cost is worth. My brand new car is did ceramic coating on and they look great no ppf done
