The inkjet printer image transfer material makes a soft image. Whilst this may be suitable for your project - especially if you want a faded, vintage look...but if not, why not hand paint some definition to your image? It doesn't have to be detailed. You could simply paint in a background like this.

I'm making some samples for a project in a hospital. The group love music and images from 1950s - 70s. Remember to reverse your text in an image editing program (Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or Affinity Photo) before you apply the image transfer.
