When the government was adding a new HOV lane on the 10 fwy, for a temporary time period, the NEW HOV was used as normal lane and everyone just flew through those portions, but as soon as they finished all the improvements, and turned it back to an HOV, traffic began to slow as could no longer maneuver around the grandma's and lawn mowers and class b straight trucks driving in the faster lanes. Nevertheless it was still faster with that new lane added even though its not a normal lane. If those in power would stop playing games, fwy's would be faster. But they really do like to hamstring fwy's just to prove a somewhat false point. But most commenters here seem to out of their minds and just drinking the coolaid. They don't even describe the population levels and number cars of on the road at that time and where most people traveled to get to work. There's to many questions in my head they fools never even addressed. The title of this video should be titled "Streets for some but not for All, how Los Angeles Politicians and Land Developers Destroyed Mobility.

Streets for All, Move LA, and Abundant Housing LA are the 3 best and most impactful advocacy orgs in Los Angeles. Safe streets, rapid transit, and affordable housing. The city is failing on all 3 fronts so these orgs are critical to fixing our city.

In general I just believe megacities shouldn’t be created at all. Not just because traffic is a problem but in terms of most general issues. I’m born in a city with more than 10 million and have lived here and there, including small cities like Stratford Ontario and Kaltenkirchen Germany, to midsized cities like London Ontario. In my personal experience, London Ontario with 450k population is probably the maximum size of a city that don’t have to go through megacity problems. I mean 450k without being a suburbia of another bigger city. Smaller cities are even greater. Stratford has about 30k and I believe Kaltenkirchen Germany was about the same size, serving as the terminus of Greater Hamburg metro. My life was fantastic in these cities since I care more for bonded community and cleaner air meanwhile I don’t care to live around everything considered cool, happily willing to travel to Hamburg 50 minutes away if I needed those cool factors. Everything comes at a price. There has to be a compromise between the benefits and the downsides. That’s my bottom line.

Don't believe what Schneider and SFA are selling. These guys are backed by big money and that's all this is about. They are trying to get their $2 million to conduct a "study" that has widespread opposition. EVEN KAREN BASS HAS DENOUNCED HER SUPPORT FOR THIS PROJECT! They use incorrect and misleading numbers and studies. This won't be affordable housing, and it's all about the retail $$, and is quite literally a money grab by Michael Schneider and Streets for All, or Streets FOR NO ONE!!! Please don't support this proposal from this group of Fake-tivists!!! By the way, there are numerous parks and open spaces in this area, not to mention Ballona Wetlands and the beaches. Don't buy into this BS! These guys are al about the money and they don't care that traffic spills through in neighborhoods with kids.

But you had to say about the 405 is absolutely wrong Since they added the carpool and traffic has gotten better and not just for people in carpool. I drive that road 5 6 days a week and have for the last 25 years. Before they added those lanes, you were guaranteed an hour just through the pass. Now it's maybe 15 minutes 20 minutes depending on traffic per se.. You filthy liberals need to get your shit right.. Why didn't you mention the 101? It goes right through a rich neighborhood in the valley from one end of the valley to the other 101 runs through the richest part of the of the city. When they built a 105 that was through white people houses three times are out of control with your making the facts say what you want them to say... You are what's wrong with America?

As mentioned in the video, history shows that any increase to freeway capacity, will only temporarily nets positive changes in commute times. Because the result of those positive changes will induce more car trips.

Really dumb idea for this area as it would leave this part of West LA inundated in traffic forever. Streets for All would like most LA residents to travel on bike and buses. This proposal is trying to force the 15 minute city agenda on Angelenos by disconnecting their neighborhoods from each other. Already a huge amount of residents have complained about this proposal and Mayor Karen Bass, Supervisor Holly Mitchell and Councilwoman Traci Park don't support this proposal or any need for a $2 million dollar feasibility study to give to an unqualified non-profit Streets for All who has ZERO experience in spearheading, designing and managing a project of this magnitude. They basically want to steal 130 acres of prime West LA land for a $5-10 Billion dollar development project in the future. No thank you! Show less

LA needs to invest more in it's public transportation system. Just because it has large swaths of land that's desirable to build on doesn't mean highways are the answer. I say, keep the highways. But promote public transportation so that more citizens are inclined to use it instead of the highways.

This is vital artery for locals and will inhibit access to beach communities to those not fortunate enough to live adjacent to the beach by adding congestion to the only two available surface level streets that would provide access. Where was this viability study when they destroyed the adjacent wetlands in favor of housing and office structures for Silicon Beach? Please invest your $2 Million dollars in solving for the Culver City unhoused vs. taking away a vital transportation path leveraged by neighboring communities.
