Hermod+ Creating a Track
Received a request to make a video on creating a track from scratch on the Hermod+. Little long, but hopefully the timeline can help folks navigate to the sections that interest them. Thanks for watching and let me know what you think in the comments section.

Hermod+ (Plus) Review - First Impressions
Просмотров 4,7 тыс.Год назад
After buying the Hermod about a month ago, I discovered that Squarp Instruments was releasing the Hermod . I was not sure if it was worth upgrading, but I decided to purchase the Hemord anyways. This video captures my first impressions of the Hermod and provides my opinion on whether it is worth the upgrade. Spoiler Alert, it is. *TIMELINE:* 00:00 Start 00:14 Racking 00:58 First Impressions 04:...
Hi, I've just seen your video, thanks 👍 I've just bought the Pamela and I'd like to know how you synchronise the 2 modules together. I put the Hermod +: Sync Input 1/96 = 24 ppqn and the PAM on 24 ppqn which works very well the clock follows but I can't get the Play for the PAM play (the only thing I did was connect the Hermod's reset to the Pam's Run and select Reset in the latter's options but I'd like to know how you do it. Thanks in advance
Nice demo, thank you 🙏
Thanks to this video, I went from interested to VERY interested, and pulled the trigger on a Hermod+ last night! Can't wait for it to show up so I can get it racked and dive in - this will be the most powerful sequencer I've ever used outside of a DAW.
Nice demo. Thanks!
I’ve been eyeing this sequencer and this video helps a lot, thank you. Subscribed.
Nice one. Thanks for theses demos. I have just purchased one of the back of watching your videos. Good work and can’t wait to hook mine up and create some visual audio delights as I’ll be using it synced to my main set up but using cv to control parameters on the sleepy circuits hypno for live use and rhythm track controlling drum machines whilst triggering led lights on the soma labs illuminator. I got some wok to do but can’t wait to sink my teeth into it. Keep up the good work dude.
Very interesting video, you explained it well for a newbie like myself. Thanks!
I like the video since its focussing on making music. Thanks!
one question regarding the effects. there is an envelope effect, does that mean you can chain eg. the euklid effect and afterwards an envelope so that you have an adsr for the generated pattern ?
Great presentation, good pace
This is a really great demo. Thanks for putting it together!
Thanks for this - I just picked mine up yesterday and fumbled through and picked up most of this pretty intuitively before watching this- which says alot for the ease of operation of this pretty powerful unit.
How is velocity used since there's only one CV out for each track?
This or Voltage block? For the money this really
Is it possible to send a midi program change from the hermod plus to other modules like the disting ex plus? Thanks
this or the black sequencer for workflow?
Does step+Y and step+X still work for quickly create random sequence and clear sequence? EDIT: Yes it does
I'm curious to see what it looks like to edit more than a 16 note sequence on the Hermod+. How do you page through all of the steps?
This is excellent. Cute and informative. Good pacing and not too much faffing around. I hope you do more module demos, subbed.
Thanks! I am working on the next video, either "Hermod+ vs Black Sequencer" or "Moog DFAM vs Noise Engineering Manis". Unfortunately my job expects me to actually work. Hopefully will have a new video out in the next week or so.
This is great!!! Thanks for making it! I think your talking is so smooth! You should listen to what I end up having to chop up when I record stuff haha. For real though, such a powerful and controllable brain for eurorack! It squishes so many ideas into one package with really consistent UI! I love that you can mute tracks, effects, etc independently! Once you had something set up on it you’d be good for a whole set easy! Squarp has some great stuff! And again great video!
Thank you! Agree that the Hermod+ is very powerful and I have not even started playing with triggering different sequences or recording in to Hermod+.
Finally a full Hermod+ demo video, Squarp should put it on their site! Thank you for making it. The sequencer looks great, can't believe you can have 256 step patterns and I love the big 16 pad matrix too. This will be my next sequencer!
I don't think you will be disappointed.
Thanks for making this - it was helpful to understand the workflows.
Thanks for checking out the video!
The Hermod+ appears to be a Westlicht Performer with a more refined UI and some extra tricks up its sleeve. I love my Performer, but the Hermod+ just became a MUST HAVE for me!
It is a sequencing beast!
@@TheGreye I hope to have mine by the weekend!
@@Reyescultdoes it have anything like the curve track?
@@joshk2181 I haven't yet received my Hermod+, but I believe the Modulation track is very similar to the Curve track. Here's the expert from the online manual: 1 VOICE ► MODULATION This layout is used to create mod tracks. CV will output a modulation signal, Gate will output an additional gate. Use it to control CV modulation inputs, like a filter cutoff frequency.
does it duplicate Erica Sinth's Black Sequencer?
Why would it? How could it?
There are similarities between the two and I have both in my case. The biggest differences to me are the hp real estate (Hermod+ = 26hp and Black Sequencer = 42hp), the number of tracks, and the immediacy. The Hermod+ wins the first 2, but the Black Sequencer wins (in my opinion) the last one. Being able to see and edit 16 steps at a time with the Black Sequencer is fantastic, especially with the magic function. I originally purchased the Hermod (the OG) to expand midi connectivity into my case with little to no intention of using the available features. With the improvements of the Hermod+, that may change. Let me know if you have specific questions about the differences. Also, I am planning to do a video in the next couple of weeks comparing the two and highlighting the features that sets each sequencer apart from the other.
@@TheGreye Thank you very much for your answer and I look forward to your comparison between the two modules. I'm a fan of Tangerine Dream with their intricate arpeggios.
@@TheGreye I'm currently looking to pick up either a Hermod+ or a Black Sequencer, so I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts on the two. The immediacy of the Black seems like a huge boon, but the MIDI capabilities and HP size of the Hermod+ really have me second guessing going with the Black. I don't have a lot of midi equipment yet, but could see myself picking up more. I subbed so I know when you drop that video.
@@fancysandwichesIm in the same boat. I thought of going with black sequencer first but seeing how this one is just laid out seems a lot less cluttery and simple but idk.
I just got my Hermod+ a couple days ago, and at first I struggled with it a bit as I was used to working with a couple other sequencers, but now that I got a handle on it it really is pretty powerful and I am seeing a lot of potential in what I can do with it.For anyone else there is a learning curve but totally worth it once you get it. The 8 tracks plus midi is what really sold me on this one. Plus it is more performance orientated than what I was using before which I like. One thing you didn't go into which is also very powerful is the recording of external CV in for use as a modulation track and then editable, cool stuff.
I have not played with any "record in" feature yet, either note or CV, but I am looking forward to trying those features out. Getting hands on with the Hermod+ definitely changed my thoughts around how I might use the module in my writing process, it is just so nice to work with.
@@TheGreye I posted this on the Squarp forum but I will add it here as well for something to try So on a notes track I recorded 1 single Midi note (A4) and added the following effects to the track. Harmo, Random, Scale and Arpeggiater. (each tweaked a little bit). In a single bar I had a very melodic sequence that was ever evolving and very musical, all from inputting a single midi note. Very Cool.
Very cool! Looking forward to,seeing more and the strengths of the module. I’d be curious about the process starting from scratch in regards to the hermit if you’re considering doing something like that.
I posted a video showing some of the basics in working with the Hermid+, check it out.
@@TheGreye awesome! I will! Thanks for the heads up!
Brilliant! Was very interested in this when it was announced but you have turned it into a no-brainer... It's now top of my shopping list. Thanks!
You are welcome (or I am sorry, depending on your G.A.S.)! I feel like the Hermod+ is a very welcome upgrade and a great modular brain.
Cool video! Liked and subbed! I’m #1 🤘
Thanks for the feedback and Sub!
Would love to see a track from scratch video using the Hermod+!
Let me see what I can put together in the next week or so.
@@TheGreye Thanks! There is surprisingly little content about it right now and I'd love to see what the workflow is like.
Nice info, but your voice is too hard to hear against the level of the music
Thank you for the feedback. Will work on that for future videos.
