Composition student at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Singapore. I am interested in investigating and reimagining sonic identities through working with electronics or inter-cultural musical elements.

Performed in April 2024 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music, Carolin Ralser, flute with special thanks to Darrell Tan for the recorded dizi samples An attempt at consolidating and uniting my musical influences, con:flux combines the flute with pre-recorded and electronically manipulated samples of the dizi (Chinese flute), resulting in unique, varying confluences of sound. Ong Ping Din - Wavering (a little jazz tune)
Просмотров 4538 месяцев назад
A little jazzy tune written for a harmonic assignment. Its been...a while (!!!) since I've uploaded or shared anything in general, huh? Truth is I've not really felt very strongly for any of the music I've written over the past 2 years, not have I felt super compelled to share anything. All that's hopefully gonna change soon though, and I've at least got some things to share now! Keep a look ou...
Ong Ping Din - Variations in F minor for Piano and Strings
Просмотров 167Год назад
Not a super serious work, just a little thing I wrote last year for theory class, where we had to compose variations based on a ground bass. Had way too much fun with this. This is mostly scored for Piano Trio, but 1:19 onwards features a larger string group with 3 violins, viola and cello.
Ong Ping Din - Piano Sonata No. 2 in D major (2020) [Visualisation]
Просмотров 75Год назад
Mock-up playback and visualisation of my second piano sonata, composed in 2020. My piano sonatas are culminations of my early attempts at composition and represent the self-discovery and development of my early compositional style. They are written in a primarily neoclassical idiom. The visualisation is created with Stephen Malinowsky's Music Animation Machine MIDI Player: www.musanim.com/Player/

Ong Ping Din - "Sugarloaf" for Piano Trio (2019) [w/score]

And here's another upload of Sugarloaf, this time with the score! Sugarloaf is a little piece for piano trio which I composed as part of the Young Composers Academy 2019 at the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music. Inspired by the wonderful experience I had during my family trip to Australia, this piece symbolises the search for a lost sense of adventure, and the heartwarming reunion of a family...

Shostakovich - Prelude and Fugue No. 4 in E minor, Op. 87 No. 4 (Woodwind Quartet Arrangement)
Просмотров 5666 лет назад
Shostakovich's Twenty Four are such inventive and beautiful works. This one in E minor is a favourite of mine. Perhaps due to the sweet, lyrical fugue subjects, I always hear four voices singing whenever I play it. I had the idea to arrange this for woodwind quartet, and it turned out great! That is, if you won't mind the terrible MuseScore soundfonts... Playback info: I made use of a little pa...

Still here
Loved the piece! I think the score could be written out a little more accurately though.... OR we could possibly hear many different versions of this score. Again I love what was written! I personally heard rests when there *weren't* rests. And I heard other things *not* indicated in this particular version of the score. Anyway: the end result was brilliant, so I guess I shouldn't complain too much!
i like it! mixed diatonicism and whatnot
1:40 almost sounds like an orchestra tuning 😂
Wah How you do the visuals?
I used a software (Windows only) that plays and visualises MIDIs, link in desc!
Sounds really good! I was unaware that you could write sheet music... mind if I ask how long this took?
Nick Rogers This took about 2 months of work. I’m glad that you liked it :)
Would fit some film tbh, how did you even get those glissandos at 1:08 Also, you might want to add tags to your vids
Mystic Jolteon Violin and cello both play double stops plus the glissando
This sounds very relaxing and has a good texture You might want to get a picture to represent this piece rather than just show the staffs
The main reason why I made a recording of the score is because I wanted to show how I arranged it and show how the voices work individually when they are separated. I’m not a fan of the “use a random pic” thing.
@@ongpingdin you could also have a transparent sheet with background behind it
I'd disagree on this one - following the piece with the score is much more constructive to appreciation then jamming some image.
@@Krycelite привет крис:)
Hi everyone! This upload may come as a surprise to some, because if you have been following me since before this channel was even created, you would have seen that I only did electronic music using FL Studio. I just want to say it now that if you would like to stay with this channel, be prepared to see lots of classical music-related uploads. This is something I know may not resonate with some of you, but I have been wanting to do this for a long while. I am a classically trained musician, and classical music is a really important part of my life. I know classical music has never been the thing with many people nowadays, so it is with hope that I now invite you to my world of classical music and perhaps allow you to appreciate it a bit more. Of course, I won't be ditching FL Studio anytime soon either, and my plan is for this channel to have a nice balance of popular and traditional compositions. Regardless, I really wish you would stick around. A new upload will be up in z week or two :) TL;DR I like classical music and I will post classical music vids, so deal with it ;)
