Twains amongst the under gwoth
Another very useful video Ken .. Many Thanks for posting them.. Always very handy when route learniing ..!! Congratulations on your retirement.. Hope it's a very long and happy one..👍
At 1:18 did I hear a mobile phone notification? I thought things like that were prohibited for Drivers. Unless perhaps it's something to do with line working or 'train stuff'.
@KennyQ08 how do you mount your camera? The vibration/shake of the video has nearly made me seasick !
I don't think it's the mount. It's RFI from the loco's generators or motors affecting the camera.
@@reliantfanatic WOAH ! If there's that much RFI affecting the phone, WTF's it doing to the driver... ?!?!?
@@nickw7coc102 That did cross my mind as well! It’s possibly EMI to be accurate but even so. I assume the RMT at least have measured it.
@@reliantfanatichere's hoping ASLEF have done so...?
Ferryhill to Northallerton via DARLINGTON? So much for the ECML being overloaded.
Wow that is a wobbly video, unwatchable for me 😒
NR are constructing a new up platform 👏🏼. That will certainly help the bobby
Darlington I see the up platform being built, looks like a down one too next to the current station outer wall, there aren't thinking of closing the old station are they? not with the covered roof and all?
@@Thunderer0872 It would save money and time but?? Anybody know exactly what is going on at Darlington.
NR are building two new platforms linked to the existing Grade ll station via a bridge. The work is due for completion Autumn 2025.
@ thanks Michael. Will make Darlington less of a bottleneck. Certainly helped Swindon many years ago
Newport-Ferryhill via DARLINGTON? What's that about, then?
which newport is this from please
Newport junction. Between Middlesbrough and Thornaby.
Oh wow,my favorite route on TS4,PS4. I have a consist of 3x 37,s pulling loaded steel, only goes as far as Darlington,(crew change then, lol). Thanks mate.
Spent a lot of time doing this route in a car so nice to see the area from a different perspective although expected it to route through Stockton & Stillington as opposed to Darlington. Good viewing all the same. 👍
What's wrong with Darlington?
Reason it runs via Darlo is because it's out of gauge for the more direct route via Stillington.
@ fair enough, didn’t know the gauge issue.
@ nothing wrong with Darlington, just that Stockton/Stillington was the shorter route.
👷🏽👷🏽いつも、貴重な動画ありがとう🫂ね~!
Hey Kenny, have you been back up the ABT since its been resignalled/double tracked (in places)
No. Not driving in that direction at the moment. As I am retiring in three weeks time it looks very unlikely.
Was that a folded tenner he dropped? And he heard that over a diesel 66👍.
Lived in Backworth all of my life and always wondered what the view was like from the train drivers perspective. Nice video!
Enjoyed this as Darlington’s my local station. Shows the journey from a viewpoint we don’t normally see.
What always amazes me is how the railways have allowed the lineside to be overtake by dense vegetation and huge trees.
Great video Kenny. How does the 66 get back on to the London end. Is there a run round further on ?.
The run round takes place on the tracks to the left but it is not as simple as that. When the train arrives (usually with 20 wagons) the first 4 are loaded by the gantry crane. Then moves forward towards the strapping line setting the next 6 for loading. Then sets back into the run round, runs round and pushes loaded 4 towards the quay. Eventually 14 are put towards the quay and the remaining 6 after loading and running round are set back into the strapping line points set for outover road then pulled forward then set back onto the 14 loaded. Train is now complete and checks made for departure.
Brilliant 👏👏👏. REALLY enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. I’ve traveled up and down this line for years from Darlington to either Shildon for Locomotion or Bishop Auckland to see family but never seen it quite like this. Thanks again for sharing.
I first travelled to Darlo by train in 1975 and it's amazing to see how much infrastructure has been lost and how the railways have been overtaken by tree growth.
Isn't this the HS2 tunnel segments? Cracking ride along as always.
Yes. HS2 segments Willesden bound.
Looks like you came off the Hartlepool Docks Branch although I have never seen a train on it for years. If I recall it has a steel gate on it.Never seen anything on the Seal Sands/Port Clarence Branch either.Regarding that relief track to the left between Hartlepool and Seaton Carew it looks really rusty but I caught a Grand Central 180 between Hartlepool and Northallerton a few Sundays back and it actually went down it.There must have been something wrong with the up main.
Concrete tunnel segments are coming out of Hartlepool docks every day for HS2. Colas are bringing an oil train off the seal sands branch a couple of times a week.
A lot of sniffing........
That's the first time I've seen the new platform. H/pool
Thanks for posting! I used to do constant lates and nights when I drove - I was always the first person people would come to with offers to take my early turns!
Great video but I had trouble following the line on Google Maps, can you tell me the station name at 1:14:25 please
It is Redcar East station.
@@KennyQ08 Thanks for that, I had Redcar East at 0:45:35, I'm a bit confused, maybe there is some duplication??? Cheers Jim
@@jimgraham6861 Just checked that out. You are not wrong. The video should end at 01:05 but somehow jumps back to Saltburn west junction.!!
Why go through Thronaby yard and not stick to the main line?
We are a freight train and a Passenger will be booked to pass.
Great video would love to go right inside docks would be very interesting
Go on Kenny, take us a bit further 😆
Good video very interesting to watch however if it did have sound and some commentary too it would be a great even better video 😊
Very good but will we actually get into the docks?
13:20 Aycliffe Lane crossing, Heighington Station. This is where the S&Ds first locomotive was put on the line, having been delivered by road from R. Stephenson's works at Newcastle. The building on the right dates from those early years, and needs to be preserved.
It's been 'rationalised' to the limit. Apart from the section at Cliff House, all flexibility has been carefully 'designed-out'. I remember seeing FIVE rakes of coal wagons under Davis Bridge; Two of fulls, two of empties, and one on the headshunt waiting for the road to the ICI power station. (16-ton side-door type, these last). Good to see Platform 3 at 'West' back in use, though. The long bit of 'wrong road' beween Clarence Rd. and the docks branch is a legacy of using the cross-over put in when Plat. 3 was abolished. If the Docks get busy, it'll have to be moved closer to the junction. Are you planning to do the Graythorp branch?
What's in the Wagons ? Steel ? I'll bet these tracks haven't see a train in years !
It will be empties to be loaded with tunnel lining rings for the HS2 tunnels that are being friven from Old Oak Common towards Ruislip. At their present rate of progress the TBM's are using at least 112 segments per day so these trains are pretty regular.
Great to see this. Thank you
i would like to see a felixstowe north and south also.
👷🏽Hello〜😁👋貴重な映像ありがとうございます
I see commerce, I see activity, I see LIFE!
Best 5 minutes I'll never get back. Why the gates at the start? Can't wait for the next episode...left or right?
exciting times.........
I think the gates show where the National Rail ownership ends
@@Timrud1 The gates are in the perimiter fence of the Docks. Hartlepool Docks is fenced-off.
To help prevent trespass and a HUGE fine should any miscreant decide to wander in and come to grief....
Great stuff. Always interesting to see movements outside NR infrastructure.
Possible small misalignment at the end of the curve. Was it warm?
What are the black+white poles trackside near new bridge at northallerton ,please
They appear to have cameras mounted on them. They swivel round to face the train as we approach. Don't know what they are for. Network rail thing I suppose.
@@KennyQ08 OK Thanks for answer
I wonder what the same cab ride would look like now in 2024?
