The Second Coming
In the remnants of a fractured UK, England is on the brink of collapse where far-right militias rise to power. As Islamophobia and English nationalism ignite brutal violence, 19-year-old Marah Sultana is thrust into a fight for survival. Hunted by forces seeking control, she carries a secret powerful enough to change the course of the war-and the future of the world. In a world in which America’s reign as a superpower has crumbled, its mercenaries now rule in its shadow, In The Second Coming, Tariq Mehmood delivers a searing, unflinching narrative that mirrors his own lifelong struggle for justice. This novel is not just fiction-it’s a reflection of real-world battles. Mehmood’s powerful ...

Night Settles Upon the City

Written with urgency out of a war-time Beirut, this poetry collection registers the griefs and the heroism of the Lebanese, under siege yet again. Sabbagh lends his lyrical voice here, to give a voice to the voiceless, trying to find some harmonic sense out of catastrophe. This book will compel readers, both Lebanese and those with any kind of human heart. While much of the work was written swi...

The rise of racism in the UK
Просмотров 593 месяца назад
As many of our listeners will know, there have been racist uprsings across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. The trigger for the riots was disinformation: that three small girls stabbed to death in Southport on 29 July had been killed by a Muslim asylum seeker. In fact, the suspected killer was born in Cardiff to Rwandan parents and is not Muslim. It is true that rightwing mobilization a...

Joe Kobuthi, senior editor of The Elephant (elephant.info), speaks to Firoze Manji on the background to the uprisings in Kenya. To understand why there has been such mobilizations, we have to look at the history of Kenya, the struggle for independence, the loss of real independence, the domination of neoliberal capitalism, and the situation in which the rich have got richer while the majority h...

Kali Akuko, co-founder and co-director of Cooperation Jackson, Mississippi, is back to update us on the implications of the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. His view is that there is a strong likelihood now that Trump will win the elections. The strategy of the right to transform the USA may well be resisted by the Pentagon and others, so we cannot predict what will happen. It is likely...

    This whole podcast is racist. Its racist smearing of the vast majority of British citizens who are not racist. The story peddled here is that that only white British people are racist. RACIST VIOLENCE has been taking place for years. Yet those making this podcast are in denial. Muslims have attacked people across the United kingdom for years. Brexit had nothing to do with racism, it had everything to do with ILLEGAL MIGRATION and the consequences of that. When I was a child I would have to run the gauntlet down mill street west to Victoria Boys school. I would have to run down the centre of the road. Avoid being hit by cars to get away from PACKS of pakistani Muslim boys who would viciously beat me and steal money that was to pay for school dinners. On finishing school I had to wait in the library for at least 2 hours. If i tried to get away earlier I would be beaten up by Pakistani Muslim boys. I suffered that for two years. Teachers were thugs and bullies and did not do a thing. Why is the racism of Pakistani muslims that the country has endured for years ignored? And it has been ignored

    This is why you cannot separate the critique of empire of Coloniality from class struggle and race are inseparable- and yes- race is a social construct: a construct of empire;this is the extremity of dichotomous thinking. The promise of Whiteness is full entrance into the Ideology of Imperiialist, White Supremacist Capitalist, Heteronormative, Neoliberal, Colonial Patriarchy- this ideology is memetic and transcends race or class - but it is structured as such for the needs of this particular system. This calls for a serious inquiries into the legitimacy of meaning itself as constructed by this anthropological psychosocial political economic, philosophical system of total Colonialism- look at the ecology!!! Come on now! The Dr who spoke third Miraj- killed it!🫡✊🏽💯🇵🇸 Fanon is more heir apparent to Hegelian thought and advances his theories of the individual and the collective, the subjective and the objective, the ontological gap is necessary and constitutive of existence…

I've tried Daraja press and I saw it redirects potential purchases to zandpress, which in turn inform potential purchasers that they only deliver to Africa, and I happen to be in Europe. Is there any independent distribution of the book in Europe? (I did see it's available in the big online store by the southamerican name). Also, I don't know if it's been translated to other languages but I definitely want the original version in English. Thanks a lot.

    This is fascinating and critical history. Getting the book. Alissa Trotz is someone I admire deeply. I heard her speak at a conference on pedagogy in British Columbia some twenty years ago and her analysis blew me away--she told me not to go to graduate school but I did anyway. :) And later at the Berkshires Conference on the History of Women on a panel with Jacqui Alexander fighting the good if exhausting fight against white women's supremacy. And here, calling out sexist assumptions, turning the question around to ask Andaiye was "not known among whom?" Thank you for your commitment to the struggle, Alissa. Curious to learn more about the indigenous peoples of Guyana. Andaiye's title is reminiscent of Ruth Wilson Gilmore's call to "change everything."

    The riots were in a way a triumph of whitesupremacy. You had mostly lumpen black men risking their shit to own the bullshit white people market to them. What was actually looted during the riots? It was clothing. It was cigarettes and liquor. It was pharmaceutical poisons. I'm glad people came up. I came up for sure. Let's not make that shit to be some shit it's not. Black people know better than to listen to this shit. It sounds good. It's dangerous though. People like this can't save you. Their affinity groups will fail. They'll move on to the next alphabet group. And they'll eventually settle on a life of writing shit that doesn't make sense after all the failures. It's just what they do. Knowing Arturo, these two won't even be friends in a few years. Everyone knows what's coming. Gentrification isn't going to stop. Cops aren't going to stop shooting people. Racism isn't going anywhere. Black people aren't getting ready in our lifetime to join intellectuals like this in some revolution. It's not going to happen. Get money. Go be happy. Travel. The only freedom you're ever going to be allowed is financial freedom.

  • @ericgee7381
    @ericgee7381 2 года назад

    Blackmen and anarchist are the cops. The black male lumpenproletariat polices queerness, they police blackness as Most Def had noted. They police women's bodies. They're perhaps the most reactionary element in American society. Here in Philly they make women wear black in our extreme humidity from head to toe. And don't get me started on the similarities between actual cops and anarchist cops.The punishments statusquo culture, as a black man myself, put on the proletarians is hands down more palatable than punishments anarchists force on people. In statusquo culture I'll get a trial. I'll get a punishment. And I'll go on my way. Perhaps life will be a bit more difficult because I'd have a record. With anarchist punishment, I get a life sentence for nothing. There is no trial.

    Shemon is out there too. Fucking said Graffiti was back in NY. WTF! The riots brought graffiti back lol? Dude doesn't know anything about graffiti. Proletarian art?! Black proletariats have almost nothing to do with urban graffiti. Same with breakdancing. They of course did in the past. But they aren't represented in any great numbers in either art. Graffiti has been primarily middle-class white kids that move to cities for over twenty years. And it's never stopped. The riots didn't bring graffiti back. Graffiti has had two great explosions in the last twenty or so years. None of them have anything at all to do with the riots. This dude uses a lot of big words and concepts to just end up VERY wrong.

  • @ericgee7381
    @ericgee7381 2 года назад

    Arturo is really our there. It wasn't a proletarian uprising. It was opportunistic lumpenproletariats that wanted shit. Anarchists started the riots, yes. They cracked the first windows and stores. And let nature take its course. These were not organized proletarian. Not politically organized at least. They were nihilistic youth who wanted to own all the things they weren't willing to work for. This is a highly romanticized and dishonest take on the riots. From people who have no real connection to black people. Further, they set up no community supports during the riots. So you had the black lumpenproletariat taking the opportunity to hurt and steal from black retirees, workers, students, and so on in the neighborhoods.

    Kali Akuno elaborates well on the seriousness of the situation we are facing with a rightwing, white nationalist, authoritarian take over of government; the problem is mobilizing the populace which is unaware and unconcerned-for now. Charles Blow's book "The Devil You Know" lays out a great argument for Black reverse migration back from destination cities in the north, Midwest and west, to the southern states to constitute majorities of their populations, take over state governments and establish Black-safe states as well as state/federal power. Akuno's concept of dual power of government and community power is essential as we numerically lack the population to be represented and empowered to protect ourselves legislatively. Thank you all for this!

    Great talk about building a solidarity economy in the community, but how sad that it is seen as a way to defend against ‘right wing’ toxicity. Stop labelling and calling names, and excluding those ‘on the other side’. This is misleading when it comes to people on the ground, and good advice to invite everyone to connect locally on local production of resources.

    • @ianperfitt
      @ianperfitt 2 года назад

      except the far right is already highly organized to install a fascist dictatorship. what comes with that is the state collaborating with and inciting street violence. if you are familiar with Kali's work and watched the whole video you would know that he invites everyone into the solidarity economy but that doesnt work with organized fascists, neo-confederates, and white supremecists. look at the history and how they are already acting on the ground. you can try to sell the solidarity economy to these people, good luck.

    Can we have a rational discussion? I’m a conservative trump supporter. And I feel you assumed a large number of incorrect ideas about how me and my fellow constituents think. Can I illuminate you on how assuming negative traits and attributes based on political ideology is blatant bigotry? I may also remind you of the common humanity we all share, but yet democrats seem unwilling to attribute intelligence, compassion, and virtue to any person who votes for anything other than a democratic candidate. Also, it was democrats who started the last civil war, and I only hear saber rattling on the blue side of the media. And do you stand to defend this constitutional republic? Or do you wish to reform the government in a more egalitarian democracy? There in lies the truth of the matter, we are trying to preserve the constitutional republic! You are trying to protect the democratic version of democracy, which is veiled oligarchy subservient to corporaticracy….

      Hi Ryan, I'd like to clear up a misunderstanding I think I'm seeing here: Kali Akuno isn't a Democrat (political party) so much as a proponent/organizer of radical democracy. If you wanna get a flavor for what thats about you should look into Cooperation Jackson and the confederation of community organizations it associates with - Symbiosis. Adjacent concepts to look into if you're curious: Libertarian municipalism, libertarian socialism, democratic confederalism. The politics of folks like Mr. Akuno, I think, exists mostly outside of the realm of electoral and party politics, so arguments directed at the Democratic Party just don't really apply.

    It is really too bad that your very worthy efforts to stop Gates and the Monsanto/BigAg/IMF cancer has been so ignorantly influenced by the bullshit Climate Change narrative. When are you going to realize the UN's efforts are comprehensive per Agenda 2030? Yes, there are climate concerns, but to ignorantly parrot the propaganda of the likes of Al Gore, John Keary and Greta Turdburg shows a level of stupidly that renders much of your aforementioned efforts pointless. These monsters need to be stopped cold on ALL fronts. Environmental health is not a quaint subject to virtue signal about. Do you really care to get this right, or are you simply like all the other totalitarian leftists trying to force their mindless agenda on the masses? Africa is firmly in the crooshairs of the globalist slavemaster monster, but is also perfectly primed to throw them off once and for all. Without getting rivetingly clear on all fronts about what they are up to, and how they operate, guarantees they will continue their slaving ways.
