Wrong. They were a ways away (they were walking, he was running and he cut through the crops/field whereas they will have to go the long way around it. They were also singing quite loud. Hundreds of men singing will easily drown out one man shouting half a mile (or more) away. How do I know this? I was in chorus when I was younger and a HORRIBLE singer, but surrounded by good singers. 10 good singers singing loudly will drown out one bad singer singing loudly!
