Even without gaming, these systems can be really really horrible. Tested a similar one once and gave up after I realized that opening the task manager immediately produces an initial load of something like 80%. Just having any browser plus Windows Explorer open and the CPU sits idling at 15% and RUclips videos are lagging at even 1080p. All of that was after I waited for Windows to run its updates for more than two hours. Also, these systems seem to be really prone to producing high frequency electrical noise - after shutting down, mine emitted a constant whistling and trilling that was unbearable. That said, this is still an interesting and well-made video. But I have to wholeheartedly agree with the other commenter - it's really hard to not get annoyed by all the microphone pops. Sorry.

Look at the Xbox One S or One X as a budget gaming solution in 2025. They may have trouble with the newer games, but they have plenty of great titles made specifically for the systems during their life time. Stick with those and you'll have a great experience...

my wife bought a xbox one s the other day its terrible dont buy as of 1-22-2025 its trash! save the money and buy a xbox x or series s they work flawless we have both!

I picked up an Xbox One X last year Been a great experience! Mainly for 1st party titles that look and play fantastic Not interested in CoD PVP type stuff I guess that’s a good thing lol

Is the stock HDD still in this One S? If so I recommend switching to a SSD you'll get better load times and most likely performance. Games like warzone on HDD and can shorten the lifespan due to the constant heavy load it puts on the stock HDD

Of course live service games are going to run slow on last Gen hardware.. playing regular games on it is more than fine

2:55 and 3:28, I'd say the reason for stuttering and stuff not loading in is only partially the outdated CPU/GPU on the one S. On my One S which i upgraded the base 512 gb hdd, to a 1tb ssd from samsung. I noticed there was way less stutter, and stuff not loading in. My Xbox one s is 8 years and 7 days old. Repasting it might help too with thermal's. But it is just an outdated POS. Good for media center though! I might make my own video on the One S and the original one.

Been using one at my moms house all my life since I first got one in like 2016 ish got another in 2019 after my mom sold my old one, it’s like completely doodoo but honestly still works ok for a lot of titles but just ordered a series s to replace the ol guy. It’s time has come, it served me and many others well but it’s over for it lol.

The hard drive makes things slower in some games. Upgrade to ssd will make cod smoother

My xbox 360 and xbox one s are still running in my house.

My One S is still doing well in 2024 and will do for the foreseeable future. Getting the One X just for the upgraded performance and 4K after watching a few comparison videos. I tend to play Xbox One and not cross gen games so it’s not a big deal for me.

Good console for single players games. Unplayable for FPS games like CoD, Apex, and fortnight unless you a little kid

I think one of the main issues with the Xbox one is with the mechanical hard drive and the Xbox operating system has no way of defragmenting it so overtime it just gets slower and slower, an SSD definitely solves that problem.
