Friday 19 May 2023 A man from Bradford has been fined after admitting to a public order offence against a Safety Camera van operator. The incident happened on Bolton Road on 16 August when the man stopped his vehicle which blocked the safety camera van and then verbally abused the operator. Hamzah Mahmood 24 of Queens Road was arrested and charged with a public order offence causing harassment, alarm or distress and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour. Yesterday at Bradford Magistrates he was fined a total of £587.

That’s NOT a police van!! They’re a separate private company. It’s entrapment.

How's this for an idea? Scrap all mobile camera vans and every council in the UK puts up average speed cameras where needed. These of course will need to be funded by increasing the council tax but the fines generated can be injected back into the council. And there will be fines because the argument against camera vans is that they are just there to raise money so drivers must be speeding in the first place right? Might as well have drivers putting money into the local council where they are speeding, right? Also means money saved on maintaining camera vehicles and the police trained civilian staff can assist in other ways.

If dumb c*nt drivers and bike riders didn't speed these vans would not exist on the roads doing the job they are now. You NEVER see a pedestrian pulled over for speeding, funny that. Yet you drivers blame the police? No, I blame YOU DRIVERS, speeding drivers - for this waste of tax payers money. Yeah, stop driving and speeding like c*nts and then you cry babies won't be pulled over and fined lol.

Hope none of your family ever get knocked down by a speeding car. By the way, you aren't parked correctly either, you are outside the box causing traffic to drive wider than necessary. Well done you.

The speed camera is NOT there to protect "little kids" crossing roads: it's there to raise revenue by fining drivers for driving over 40 mph. A car hitting a pedestrian in excess of the speed limit at 44 mph (penalty) or at the limit of 40 mph (no penalty) will pretty much do the same physical damage to a little kid. The variation in the two speeds is so negligible that it would make little or no difference to the injuries sustained.

so lets get this right, the van is there to discourage speeders on, what looks like a busy built-up area and you thought its a good idea to stop that.. you do know that the van will have just gone to another location, to help make that area safer..well done.

Sneak around front and put safety pin nails under their tyres - I find that stops them too.

As has been said several times. The guys/girls in the camera vans aren't Police officers. With that in mind why have some Police forces openly threatened people using social media. With a £1000 fine or 1 month in prison for posting the locations of their greed cameras? The law they are accused of being in breach of is section 89 of the Police Act 1997, designed to penalise anyone who “wilfully obstructs a constable in the execution of his or her duty" Surely, if no occupants of the van are constables. Then section 89 can't possibly apply. Not to mention the blatant hypocrisy/b#ll$hit claim that the vans are a high profile deterrent. Not a money making tool for the government. Allegedly the Police would be delighted if they didn't catch anyone because they were all driving safely & within the speed limit.. If that isn't a massive lie. Why are they threatening to fine/imprison public spirited people who are attempting to make that wish of "Safer Roads" come true? 🤔 As for the sanctimonious folk making statements along the lines of..."Don't speed & you'll be fine"... The vast majority of the victims of camera vans aren't boy racers doing 60mph in a 30mph limit. They Mr & Mrs average that accidentally crept over the speed limit by 5mph. Those people are very possibly far more dangerous now than they were prior to their brush with the law. Because now they will spend even longer staring at the speedometer. Rather than looking at the road ahead. But it's ok, because when they plough into a child. They'll have done so at the speed limit. Lets hear it for "Safer Roads" 😏

If the true motive behind a speed trap or speed camera is to stop people speeding for safety reasons then there needs to be a sign in advance warning motorists, so that they stick to the speed limit. How is a camera van hidden round a bend with no warning of its presence going to slow down a motorist that is going too fast? Unless you notice it in time and have quick enough reactions to slow down enough. It's blatantly evident that it's just a scheme to gain money from fines. I bet the guys in the vans are rubbing their hands and grinning every time they catch someone. When really they should be hoping they don't catch anyone all day because it means everyone's driving safely. The straight up speed cameras that have a warning, I have nothing against. They are justified in actually doing some good. But the sneaky ones? Hate them!

Today p g was in speed camera car and me on a push bike well I slowed the drivers down coming towards him with my hand ✋ the f ck r said I was obstructing him carrying out his duty no I was stili g the cash register and slowing the traffic coming in to a 30 zone
