Excellent that 'Break On Trough' is the first part of the Title, this way when I have multiple tabs I can see the song titles not that its the DOORS etc, OTHERWISE, its like 3 tabs doors, no idea what the songs are, and maybe 3 tabs of Zeppelin or whatever group, and NO CLUE what the songs are. 😄 Thanks..... Also FULL VERSE lyrics, is great, as opposed to the artsy' 1 line at a time in hard to read artistic fonts. 👍

I'm 67 and unfortunately I know what its like being strung out on opiates. I recently relapsed with 24 years clean in NA. That monkey never leaves, he just sits in the corner waiting to pounce on you and control your spirit. I never understood that line in this song that says, "I never touched nothing that my spirit could kill". He's singing about Opiates and how they take you over. You can walk away from grass anytime you want, there's no physical addiction. But kicking Opiates, is way different! You get a bad case of the shakes, clills, cramps, diareea and vomiting and as if that's not enough, you get one of the worst cases of the blues you ever had.. But Herion, Perks, Morphine, Vicodin, Valium, own you once taken for more than three days straight. The Lord my God is the only thing that can brake it off...

Saw them five or six times in the late 70s / early 80s. Just a fantastic live band. Period.

Iconic 60s rock with a timeless message. 60s era was the absolute best,creativity and songwriting along with the most skilled musicians that ever lived. For 50 years I have wondered what that word was and I just can't agree with "payroll", it doesn't make any sense. I always thought he said " pharoah", which also didn't make any damn sense. Of course he didn't have no payroll on the road, who does? If he wanted a payroll he should have stayed home! What he really needed was a bedroll with all that rain and snow. "I didn't have no bedroll, not even no place to go. " A bedroll is something every dust bowl refugee, hobo and itinerant musician needed. I think singing in that falsetto he has to soften the b and d so much it sounds as much like payroll as it does bedroll. But bedroll makes a whole lot more sense. However its wrong too. I just came across an idea on another website that brings me back to pharoah. Faro/fairo is an old slang term for girlfriend, and that's what I always thought it sounded like. I didn't have no faro, not even no place to go. Tommy Johnson, a blues musician (and falsetto singer) Alan Wilson was quite familiar with, also used the word in his song Cool Drink of Water Blues at 1:50 ruclips.net/video/TcSLS26S4zE/видео.html Mystery solved.
