Aaron Watson - I Don't Want You To Go - Bass Cover
A fun song I learned to do for a fill in gig. The BL in my main band likes it too so we're going to add it into our set. Used my US Fender Jazz Bass 5. Just added Fender Ultra Noiseless pickups and have switched over to using GHS Bass Boomer strings. So far...so good. Recorded straight into my Boss BR1600 with a little compression and limited EQ.

A fun instrumental song we haven't done for a little while. We brought it back into the set now that we have our newest members Nic on keys and Dave on drums. This was our first time doing it live as the updated group. Had a little rust but we pulled it off.

I was doing a fill in gig and this song was on the setlist. I really enjoyed playing it live so I thought I'd do a quick cover of it. Played on my Fender Jazz Bass 5 and recorded on my Boss BR1600. Got a little carried away with the compression so the low B stuff didn't come out well.
Sting - The Hounds Of Winter - Bass Cover

I've been listening to Sting since I was a kid and he has a ton of a great songs. I've always enjoyed the sound and feel of this one so I thought I would do my cover of it. Played on my newly acquired Fender Jazz 5 string and recorded on my old Boss BR1600.

Another great song from EJ off of the Ah Via Musicom record. Once again on my Muckelroy Ensemble Pro Player 5 into my old Boss recorder. I made very minor adjustments to the EQ on mixer. Used the back pickup in parallel mode and the front pickup in single coil mode. Had the tone rolled off a little bit. A little bit of compression was added to the track in the final mixdown.

Giving my final thoughts on the 22 RC 390. Two services done and somewhere north of 3800 miles. A song I've always enjoyed but never have played. Thought I'd make it my next quick cover. Played as always on my Muckelroy Ensemble Pro Player 5. Recorded on the old Boss BR1600. Added a little pinch of low end, scooped a little bit of the mids and kept the highs flat. Added some compression to smooth everything out. Bass was in single coil mode with tone wide open.

I've always liked the band Trapt since they came out and have always enjoyed the bass lines Pete Charell has consistently laid down for them. A fun song I used to cover in an old band of mine. Recorded with my awesome Muckelroy Ensemble Pro Player 5. Both p/u's in single coil with the tone on 75% as I just put on new strings. Used my Boss BR1600 with very minimal EQ and a splash of compression.

Doing another fun country cover by fellow Texan Casey Donahew. Played on my Muckelroy Ensemble Pro Player 5. Recorded on my trusty Boss BR1600 with a very slight low end boost and very slight upper mid cut. Volume and tone wide open with pickups in single coil mode. Low B on this bass is awesome!

    So just to clarify, after 620 miles the bike changes without any input from me? I will be taking it in for the first service once I hit that as well. Also with the quick shift, isn't that shifting without the clutch? I've been doing that with mine at 100 miles.. should I stop?

    • @BassOnDrums
      @BassOnDrums 5 месяцев назад

      Below 620 miles the tachometer will flash at you when you hit a certain RPM telling you when you should shift for the break in period. After you hit 621 miles it will change the rpm at which the tach flashes to a higher rpm. You can then go in the system and customize when you want it to flash at you for a shift notification and then a hard redline. A quick shifter shifts the bike without you physically doing it. There is a software on the bike that needs to be unlocked by the dealer. I have always been a motocross guy so I’m used to shifting without the clutch but on street bikes I have always used mine….I’d rather be safe than sorry and not put unnecessary strain on the gear box. But I’m not certain….maybe someone smarter than I will chime in.

    • @BassOnDrums
      @BassOnDrums 7 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the advice Russ…I’ve tried boosting the bass a little more in some of my newer tracks I’ve done as I’ve heard a few people say the same thing. My goal has sort of been ‘what would it be like if my bass part was the one actually used for the track’ hence why I try and blend it in and make it part of the overall song. But I get people want to hear the character of the instrument too, so I’m trying to accommodate. Thanks for watching!
