Does the looper work to make loops?
Ya, it has memory so you can save them (256!) And you can make them 3-4 minutes and not run out of memory. You can even upload pre-recorded jam tracks to it.

does a new one come with the latest updates?
Hmmm, so with the looper on the input to the spark, are you not subjecting your loop and drums to the FX set in the amp? This setup could work with a clean tone and maybe some reverb, but when you start adding effects, the loop and drums could get a bit funky. No?
What about using the FX’s on the Spark app or is that not feasible?

Ya, a little reverb is ok but NO DELAY! Ha. My pedal (JTC/NUX) has both drums and loop memory. In the video I was playing over my recorded loop with drums. Sounds pretty good, but ya, gotta be pretty clean.
