    The hults bruk ones are good too. I use mine on backpack hunting trips. It's very similar to the Scandinavia forest axe. They are great for both firewood and game processing and hold an edge well.

    Stropping your chisel to sharp from 1200 to microhone level with no invetween will almost guarantee a ruined edge that you just made.

    • @RobertMoonWalker
      @RobertMoonWalker 2 месяца назад

      @@MintStiles Interesting claim, does the edge look ruined at 4:03?

    • @MintStiles
      @MintStiles 2 месяца назад

      @@RobertMoonWalker It depends on the definition and your application. I can only tell from your video that your edge is slicing sharp (which is not the same as push cut sharp) and fine for most applications. If I am to expand my comment, it will be as follows, When you go from say 1200 to a microhone (around 12K +/1), you would be required to do quite a bit of stropping. On the bevel side, this is not a big deal as the flex of the strop will only hit the two corners a bit more, giving your edge a front to back and a ever so slight side to side camber that wouldn't be an issue in real world application. The issue is when you strop the back with the same process, especially at 3:50 or so. This causes the leading edge that you are abrading to become hit (surprisingly) hard by the compound, which WILL cause it to round ever so slightly. Even when you push down on the chisel and only going front to back, you will get the two sides to become rounded, especially over time. You will also get a slight high spot closer to the front edge vs the rest of the chisel, make it progressively harder to get rid of that burr as you continue to use/strop. You would literally have to keep chasing that high spot by stropping even harder every time. Why is that a problem? Well, most timber framing applications, it's not. But assuming the diamond plate is flat (which most are in fact not, many are easily out by a thou or two from edge to centre), you have literally just taken that flat you worked so hard to get and rounded the sides. When you have a final product, that will seemingly be sharp and awesome, you will start to find issue of having to continually dig into a work piece even though the expectation is that of a flat back. you will find the chisel wants to rise, especially when you are coming in from the two corners. How can you test? Take a diamond plate that is assumed to be flat (actually most will develop quite the hollow over time), lap a water or oil stone such that the stone is more flat than the plate (or at least with a hint of convex in the order of microns). Take your stropped chisel back to that stone and give it go, and I can guarantee you that the front edge and two sides will not hit unless you press hard and flex the metal or water stone (oil stone won't flex). Apologies for the long windedness. Effective chisel geometry is something that I've rather painfully figured out over a decade of trial and error. You can have a chisel that is finished on a run of the mill hard arkansas (around 1K) that will give you repeatable, overlap-able, and mirror-like finish on end grain each time, even though the dull sheen would not suggest you could.

    The proper term for this would be “Billet” lightsaber. Integral implies it is functioning whatsoever like a real lightsaber, similar to the Hacksmith’s functioning saber. These are not really anything new just because you milled it out of a single chunk

    • @RobertMoonWalker
      @RobertMoonWalker 4 месяца назад

      @@blacklangster1141 I appreciate your comment, but I fundamentally disagree with you. The term integral applies to the lightsaber in the video because its frame is one solid piece (billet). If the Lightsaber was entirely made of one solid piece of material, then its title should be billet lightsaber. The word integral does translate to completely functional lightsaber like the one you are referring to. Integral in a machined item means that its frame is one solid piece “billet” :)

      @_0bsidian_rich_50 3 месяца назад

      @@RobertMoonWalkerregardless of the definition of the word, this lightsaber being made from one solid piece of metal isn't something new. Your title is misleading, and there are plenty of pre-existing sabers machined from a single piece of material.
