So in 2016 while on my lunch break at caterpillar I drew out a sketch dreaming of owning my own business and having a bed built like my drawing . After 15 years of working at caterpillar i finally broke out and took the leap on going on my own. I'm closing on my 3rd full year working for my self . I started in my 1ton dually, saved money up to finance my 5500 paid it off in about 1 1/2 years th...

Good stuff
I did this back about 20 yrs ago, it was a Climax rig. It had a specific welding attachment that was variable speed with a much smaller gun. Longest solid bore I can recall was close to 24in. The longest bore in one set up was 60in on Diamond Z Horizontal grinder, on the mill. You just watch and listen when welding. . Komatsu wheel loaders gave me the most problems. Didn't stay with it long enough to figure out why. But it was much harder to machine after welding. I assume something different in the base metal. It's a valued and prestigious job, stick with it!
Feelin' Better-Hank Jr. 1 of his lesser known. Kinda gotta dive deep for that 1. Or a Jr. Loyalist. I noticed the blue shavings coming out the boring process. With the slow motion of the boring process , I can't see where it would heat up that much. Is it the boring process that is producing the blue shavings ? Or is it removing previously overheated material ?
Great videos
My idle! I do this type of work as well. Not for the weak. Great content Thanks
Good ol air arc's. I've looked thru the hood may hour doing that
Man we have a lot in common…I left Cat too back in ‘10 with a dream and some notes on paper. Long story short, I started with a 1994 K3500 that cost me $2k…in 2014 i ordered a Pete 337 with stellar bed and crane…in ‘21 I was able to build a shop…keep pushing Josh. Looks like you’ve planned well, do great work, and enjoy what you do…that will carry you for the long haul! Can’t wait to see this truck come together and start working !
Congratulations! The whole set up awesome!
Congratulations! Hard work and dedication pays off. You deserve it!!
Sometimes I wish I had a battery powered needle scaler.
Your right, Milwaukee is the only way to go. I would stay away from the 1” pistol grip impact though and get the larger two handed one. The pistol grip is twice as heavy as 3/4 and appears to have the same torque. I never use it anymore unless I’m using a socket 2 1/2” or bigger. I use my 3/4 on almost everything. I like watching your videos. From B.C. Canada
You didn't show any of the cutting old/ welding new activities. If you're able to add video (depending on your customers) vs. the still shots I think you'd have a better all around video. Maybe share any hiccups in the project as a teaching moment. GREAT looking welding rig!
@@DIRTDUMMY1 we for sure got extra footage it got left out of this video edit for some reason . Sorry about that will get it on here soon though !
Looks good brother
Need to see that squarebody man
Where did you find these 15x10 wheels? Been searching all over for these
@@emmettsampey5046 very lucky Facebook market find . :)
@@chamberlainsPortableWelding i just dont even see that anybody makes them in the 10 hole style 😔
@@emmettsampey5046 these where widen with 2 inch bands .
@@chamberlainsPortableWelding ahh that makes since, well anyhow, your truck looks killer man
@@emmettsampey5046 I’m not sure if I got more recent videos of it on here yet , we just started updating our RUclips but it’s been completely repainted . Its definitely turn out a good looking truck
Beauty rig
@@Ugi000 thanks friend ! This was 2 years ago so a old video , my new crane bed just showed up this week so wait untill we get that on !!!
That was a lot of welding!😮
Like your videos and love the work you do. Wish the volume was better. This one seems a little better.
Now! That’s my kind of work. Love it and wish I could find more of it.
Pretty sure you posted this before and I think I commented on it. Oh well, this counts as a comment too.
We could have , we are bringing a ton of these videos that’s been posted from our other social pages so it’s kinda hard to keep track of what alls been already posted
Broken shaft or did it come Apart and put metal in the whole system? 😬
@@FixinCat my wife is slowly moving all our stuff over from our other social pages to RUclips . This video is about 2 years old but the whole video she’s gonna post shows everything . The cassette pump cam shaft had a piggy back gear that drove the hydraulic pump . The cam shaft in the cassette pump was snapped right after the last lobe for injection pump :/
How do you have it mounted to your bed? Bolted down?
@@NathanDevers-wu3xq yes sir just bolted down I think I got 5 across the front and 4 across the back
That looks like a terrible way to die
Would be , but had the cab locked in place and also a chain for a 2nd safety from cab to rear bar 😊
@@chamberlainsPortableWelding thats smart, not that I have anything to say about safety when I regularly lay under cars as I watch the jack stands slowly sink into the hot asphalt. 🤣
@@thelonewrangler1008 lol been there as well definitely sketchy things us men do just to try and fix something ! We appreciate the views and comment friend be safe !
You know a fat bill is coming out of there. Be sure of that
😂 long story short I hate skid steers !
I’ll second that! Give me a D8 or 349 over any compact any day lol
Greetings from Ohio ... Great video! I'm sure that I speak for many by saying that we much appreciate clean presentations, where no rank or foul language is used. You're obviously a moral and ethical man , and watching videoes such as this is not only informative, but refreshing to many. Your ending comment to us to 'have a Blessed day' speaks volumes for your character. Again, thank you .... and may you be Blessed as well.
Make more youtube videos!
Now, that’s TOP Shelf repair work! Nicely done.
I love his video nothing like a grandpa passing it on to 3 generations keep up the good hard work guys.
Cool Video! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
They also make a speed wax. It is a thick wax cutting Coolant. sold in what looks like a grease tube. Works really good in place of the cutting oil. Little cleaner. Easily rides around in the truck without leaking all over the place. Keeps the cutters in good shape and seems to last a long time.
Great tip!
Everything reminds ne of her😢
Hahahahahha
thatll def save you time
❤ 😮
😘
Washed my buddys toyota for him while I was pressure washing my car . This is relatable
😂😂
Do you weld them all up by hand or do you have a line bore welder as well?
@@dylanthorne7125 all by hand for now
Oh! I think I get it. The trash can “is” the Ford🤔. I’ve got one but it ain’t no trash can! Promise.
@@williamthomas9463 lol no hate just friendly joking :) they all good trucks and they all can be headaches as well
@@chamberlainsPortableWelding oh I know. I took it as such. Your setup is very similar to mine. Closest I’ve seen anyway, in that I pull my gooseneck flatbed with my welding rig truck and have the ball frame mounted 2” in front of center on the rear axle. My utility bed is extra-low profile and 14’ long.
Did you like the results?
personally id rather it fried but it wasnt bad
Did you like the results?
Thank ya brother
Could you please put this in smaller form and only talk about the oil
Any questions about the oil? I just did this
I’m interested but can’t hear a word you’re saying. Sorry.
Looks great
Good afternoon, colleague.I am writing to you from Belarus, maybe you have heard!? I have a small farm. I recently bought a john deere 4044m tractor to help me in the USA at a Copart auction, faulty (wiring defect). Do you have an electrical diagram for this model?
I just found your page and love it. I'm a rig welder since 1987 I agree with everything you said about using a torch the only thing I try to teach all welders is have your tape measure sticker soap stone and a tip cleaner with you at all times and clean your tip first rattle out of the bag when you start your day off. Alot of these young guys can't use a torch they have to use a cut off disc or plasma cutter because they've never been taught how to properly use a cutting
That has always been my philosophy as well. It was tough when I was just starting out with no help from anybody but the Good Lord and it seemed like I was buying a couple of new tools, if not every week, certainly every month. Scared my poor wife to death. On another note, I was wondering if TEMCO had such a power unit. I already have one of their 20 ton hollow rams that I currently use with a pneumatic pump. Works great up to about 12 tons.
Interested in seeing the new bed any updates yet?
Looking like July/Aug . It can’t get here any faster I’ll tell you that 😂 I’m ready for it !!!!!
Man I’ve been scouring the internet for someone to do one for me that wasn’t 1200 miles away. I am in Virginia and have a ‘67 sa200 that was my dads. How do I contact this man?
Hey friend ! Give us a message on TikTok @ chamberlainwelds or facebook @ chamberlains portable welding . We’ll be happy to give you the man’s contact ! Not sure if he’d want me posting his info on here 😊
@@chamberlainsPortableWelding I understand. I wouldn’t either. I don’t have either of those platforms so I may have a friend send you a message on my behalf. Thanks so much for your help.
Sa 200 are great machines Miller not so much
@@jakemccann2790 I’ve been using millers over the last 17-18 years , they haven’t let me down yet. :/ but I’m not afraid to say both Lincoln and miller makes awesome products just depends on what kind of work you in to which one you will be suited best with .
