I really liked the new Dark Tranquillity, Spectral Wound, Nails, and Nile albums. I’ve heard great things about Oxygen Destroyer and need to check them out. The new Deceased album I think is the best metal albums of August 2024 and one of the best of the year.

And I know it is not full on metal all the way, but I really loved the new Leprous record, though that could be my bias speaking because they are one of my all-time favourite bands.

I checked out that new Spectral Wound record, and while it doesn’t have a surefire anthem like the last record did, it is still a very solid melodic black metal album! I also really enjoyed the new album from the Virginian death-thrash/heavy metal band Deceased… called Children of the Morgue. They are one of those bands that have been going for a long time and still haven’t gotten the recognition that they rightfully deserve.

Thanks for pointing out Open Surgery. Found them through Your channel. Heared nobody else speaking of them. And ... I don´t get it. It´s amazing, exactly what i want from my Death Metal, no bullshit, straight to the point, understandable lyrics, general fucked up athmosphere, a little morbidity. Just nice. Let´s see how the rest of their discography turns out to be.

I came across your album a week or so ago and I’m still listening to it. It’s very cool.u guys captured some of the old school death metal vibes from band and I grew up with. Suffocation malevolent, creation, and cannibal course.

I'm so happy you mentioned this. This album is bananas

On first listen I will say I like their debut better, but maybe it just needs more time. When so much is being thrown at you, as it is in this kind of music, sometimes it needs to gel a bit. But thought the production was a bit thin and I could have used a bit more dynamic songwriting. Not bad though.

I've seen the album cover around! I'll check it out; great review! Also, the thunder that got picked up in the background really heightened your description a lot. Nice Rotting Christ shirt, too!
