OMG, I wish I'd seen this damn video a year ago! My entire cluster goes all FUBAR'd and either doesn't work or the speedometer goes crazy, getting stuck or going past 140mph and staying or just not working at all. It's calmed down recently for some reason, nothing's changed. Anyway, I took to using a Speedo app on my old LG Lucky phone I had lying around and velcro'd it to the dash, worked fine! (Uses like 10 sats to get triangulation) Had I known there was a DIGITAL speedo, that would've been a massive help. Shame there isn't a digital fuel gauge, like how many miles you have left in the tank because my fuel gauge goes crazy at times too and I've learned not to trust it. I just go by my trip odometer instead. Thanks for the video anyway!

Might you know if this works on the 2005-07 models? My focus has the 2.0l duratec. Same gauge cluster.

Try taking positive cable off, I did this after changing thermostat 3 times, it resets thermostat

ok did the thermostat. hold light has not returned and temp is no longer fluctuating. also did plugs and filter and its much more powerful up steep hills now. i gapped at .44 with copper auto lights. whoever put the last ones in gapped them all in the 50s and they were white/oxidized on 1 and 4. did a seafoam at the brake booster and tank. new coolant. checked all tire pressures and even replaced a busted front strut. all of this takes about 2 hrs total. but anyway it worked. my thermostat came with the sensor and seal on my 09 and is metal.

mines doing this as well. hold light was flashing at one point after idling for a while. gauge was reading below C. it had rained hard that day. today i started it and the hold light is gone but the fluctuation as you see here is happening. their is a temp sensor and a thermostat that need to be replaced, and im also going to replace the plugs and air filter and run some seafoam thru it. ill let you know if it works.

does someone know why on my 07 the trip milage resets by itself without me touching the button never tried this trick but wondering y this change by itself? hope someone can help me out thank u nice video by the way.

my guess and its only a guess , is that the sending units are malfuntioning , they way mine behaves is like it has a short in the wiring for the sending unit. this problem started with a bad thermostat , but continues even after i replaced it.

I have a '98 Ford Focus Sport (manual) and the fuel gauge is intermittent. After I completely fill the fuel tank it will drop down and show an empty tank once I've travelled about 15 miles and will usually show the accurate fuel gauge some time after. Does anyone out there know what this could be related to?

i just bought a focus recently and how would you get it back to the trip settings? and do you have to do that everytime you start the car

Nice Vid, going to have to try it on my 07. The temps that were shown might be intake temp, possible ambient temp, and or coolant temp. Just my 2 cents. wondering if the 5k 6k 7k etc are to set rev limiter

Jackie did you figure out what was wrong? mine is also doing the same thing now that i put a new thermostat in my car and throwing coolant. mine is a 2011 with 30,000 miles so mad im having problems with my car..
