An unbelievable performance. One for the books. Arrogate not only broke last to go on to trounce Gun Runner, Smith hand-rode him in the stretch. We'll never know for sure why Arrogate tailed off so severely in his last three races. I was at Saratoga Race Course when Arrogate announced himself to the racing world, winning the Travers by 13 and becoming the first horse in the long history of the track to run 10 furlongs in under two minutes.

I think that either Arrogate or Ghostzapper are the two best horses I've seen run in the last 20-25 years. When Arrogate was on he was unstoppable. Then he just turned himself off and lost his desire to run. Can't help but wonder if something wasn't wrong...like when Lost In the Fog slowed down and they found the cancer had him.

Good horse that likes long runs

At the time, this was one of the strongest pieces of form put in the books prior to the Derby at Epsom. Finishing in 2nd behind Third Realm at Lingfield that day were Adayar in 2nd and Scope in 3rd. Adayar would win his next 2 starts after this race, first winning the G1 Epsom Derby followed by an impressive win over G1 Saudi Cup, G1 Dubai Sheema Classic, & G1 Juddmonte International Stakes winner Mishriff at Ascot to win the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes, and becoming the first 3YO since the mighty Galileo back in 2001 to win the Derby & King George both during their 3YO campaign. Scope in 3rd place also added some franking to this form by winning his next two races as well. Lusail came back to York race course to win very well the Gimcrack Stakes (Group Two) (Class 1) 6F race today (20/08/21) at odds of 7/2 (2nd favourite).

Goosebumps watching this everytime, I'll be watching the big A until my death. This is why I love horse racing, absolutely love it.
