Not A Proper Classic
Добавлен 20 ноя 2006
Welcome to Not A Proper Classic!
Here you'll find videos on working on, living with, as well as loving (and hating) life with my C124 (W124 coupe) 1993 Mercedes 220ce.
As it was only 29 years old when I got it, apparently it's not a proper classic car.
There may be guest appearances from a Nissan Figaro and other cars crossing past the Not A Proper Classic workshop.

With the restoration process on Big WiLLy - our 2001 Toyota WiLL vi) still ongoing, I see if I can save these rare headlights. With it being a JDM import, they're not easy - nor cheap! - to find, so can I clear them up and save a lot of money?

Morris, Triumph or Jaguar?
Mercedes….!
Few nans been pumped in that son 😂
Its manual
How can you tell?
@Beechams1042 reg check
Saw 5 today 😮
Lovely natural sky
I have a 24 years old little blue micra k11
I was too busy looking at the sky .... its like white sand, the way you get the ripples when the tide goes out... 😂
I had one of them. M240BMB. Wonder where it is now 🤔
30 year old and still rolling.😊
Yep love them so fun have 3 2 brabus notch 1 standard coupe
The red cls shooting brake in the background please
They are both horrible
I have this little blue micra
i knew this when i saw 2 6ft 120lb now objects to dispose of, was a great car too bad it had to be torched i think about that car on occasion
yes, without that spring the throttle body does not read the idle position 0, because there is a micro switch which in your case was not pressed without the spring. Clean the throttle body and if necessary adjust the accelerator cable play by turning the black threaded knob.
adjusting the cable does not improve idle but on the other hand improves driving and response to the pedal.
I'll take another look and adjust the cable. What's best to clean the throttle body? Clutch and brake cleaner?
No better to use a specific throttle body cleaner for the type of dirt and grime it needs to remove
to lubricate the various joints of the accelerator (after having cleaned them well and degreased) I use a drop of ATF oil sprayed on an oiler, a drop is enough for each one, ATF penetrates and remains on the surfaces, anti-rust and unblocking, the best!
I love old lotus cars.
Don't waste your money...
The Audi isn’t nice at all. It looks like a Tesla with Ford wheels..
Pov when i see a nice car on road
Amazing how clean it is aswell👍
It really is!
If you know how to solder you make a diagnostic tool which you plug on the 16 pin OBD port of your car. There are DIY on the internet. I think it may help you resolve your problem. Concerning my E220, I have a similar problem as yours sometimes the car idle at 1500rpm or 2000rpm. When I plug the tool it tells me that "O2S (Lambda) control system operating at rich or lean limit" which can mean that there is an intake air leak or an improper fuel pressure. I still need to investigate on that! Good luck on your side!
Ooooh. That would be sweet if thats sorted it man! Still not a fan of the play in that ajustment arm, but all the little tweaks might combine to get it back to how it should be.
It’s better, if still not quite right. But every little step. Someone on the Facebook group said it may need a throttle body clean…
@@Beechams1042 surely the rusted, worse condition throttle body that was fitted would have been cleaned first....
Dude I sold my w124 to a friend a few months ago, just before I saw I was a few hundred miles from 250000 and thought oh I need to get that on video. About 2 weeks later I remembered but it had done about 800 miles over the 250. Was quite sad. Looking the Chanel!
Will have to keep an eye on it for 131,131
mine still 120pluss😂😂😂😂
German? It was made in France.
True - but at the time was co-owned by Mercedes and Swatch. Maybe a Franco-German-Swiss nugget then...?
Yes it is a beautiful machine. I'm single guy , don't need a lot. So the hatch and 2 doors are totally perfect.
If I had the time, space, and money I’d already have it. For no other reason than it being cool!
It’s not mine either.
What sort of £ does he want for it ?
@@kenneth7549 it’s up for £1995 at the moment. facebook.com/share/9rCZh2gJ5k65UdG7/?mibextid=79PoIi
Yeah bit of an odd car. Its not a van. It's not go vehicle for carrying people.
I have never heard of this Mitsubishi Kei car as l have never heard about many JDM Kie cars but l am finding out more about them amped l knew about the Nissan S Cargo and actually saw one driving around somewhere in Sydney as l was a courier and have seen a lot if JDM vehicles just a couple of Kie cars but now l am seeing a lot of JDM vehicles especially people movers because the only Japanese people mover available from a dealer in Australia is the Honda Odyse but you can buy the crappy kia and horrible Hyundai and absolutely awful Chinese built ones there so many JDM Kei cars available in Australia but they are expensive l found out about them through an Australian you tube channel Redriven they have reviewed a Honda NBox an a Suzuki Kei car there are so many JDM Suzuki Kei cars available in Australia but l have yet to see them except for the Suzuki Capacino one once which are very rare in Australia because back in the 1990s they were extremely expensive for what they are but have seen plenty of Daihatsus not strick,y Kie cars because they in Australia they came with the 3 cylinder 1000cc engine as do a couple of small cars from France Europe can build reliable cars because they have Daihatsu engines in then and Daihatsu is owned by Toyota which we all know what Toyota is famous for reliability Toyota's are the most popular car in Australia at least most Australians do like reliable Toyota's including me l own the ultimate reliable Toyota 1997 Toyota Hilux 27 years old and still going strong and don't forget Lotus use Toyota engines the most reliable British car
Oil cavities around the head are so close to the coolant cavities, oil pressure is higher and so it travels to the cooling system, it does not even cause compression or engine running issue and no exhaust gas in cooling system.
Don’t could still be the head? What’s the worst that’ll happen if I carry on driving as it is? I was thinking it might be oil cooler lines and the radiator as there is a small oil leak potentially from there too.
@@Beechams1042 there is no oil cooler for the 2.2. There is only a trans cooler.
I meant the trans cooler! Going to take a look underneath and see if there is anything obvious.
More and more rare. It'll be a sad day when they are gone
I’d love one. My uncle had a 900 or early 9-3 convertible in red. Still remember it. I do like Saabs.
🙄👈
You might try an actual microphone so people can hear what you're saying.
That’s the plan at some point. Hoping to help grow the channel first a bit to help pay for it!
It is MINICA, not Monica
Bloody overzealous autocorrect!
Ahhhh made by Daihatsu for Mitsubishi 👍
Rather have the old one, on period AMG 19" wheels, lowered, might need a polish too. Then Id put the spare change into an investment.
It's a work in progress! Would love a set of AMG monoblocks
What is this? A hearse for hobbits?
Tiny JDM delivery vehicle....
This car screams HubNut 😁
In the USA they are banned on the roads due to unbalanced weights. A lot of these have been converted into executive porta-potties on wheels as a lot of Americans cannot fit into the normal sized portaloos
Unbalanced Weights ? What does that even mean ? I know they're hopelessly unsafe, crumple zones, airbags etc
@@edwardfletcher7790 it means given the average weight of an American being 650lbs should there be an emergency brake the truck will tip over on its front and in the case of a collision manoeuvre there is the risk of tipping over
@@billmilligan1705 I don't think you have a very good understanding of basic Physics....
The perfect vehicle if you have a Great Dane, and hate spending money on fuel. Lol.
thats a beauty! Think may have seen this on facebook for sale. Eneded up with a 847cc 1997 daihatsu move though as move was very close to me for sale. I love strange little kei cars
It is one Facebook for sale. And the Arrowworks site. When I saw it I had to go and take a look! Kei cars are cools. And the weirder the better.
@@Beechams1042 I love the party trick of my move seats fold flat to double bed! sadly something bedt and seat go down not up so cannot put rear seats up to make van. not as rare in UK as that mitsubishi but there is approx only 50 MKI moves registered on UK roads and including mine there 3 within 14 miles radius here in cornwall! One is about go up for sale too. My own got filmed for a youtube review channel and should go up in next month or so :)
Let me know where and when and I’ll take a look.
Would love it !
Saving up for one currently....one day hopefully start of next year 🤞
Fingers crossed!
the wiring loom on my one was causing similar issues
It’s got a new loom fitted. Which it needed. The old one was very badly perished.
Wow beautiful
Was 5hat a 2014 plate?
Think it’s a 16.
My mother bought one
the stubborn duck, was waiting for the last one.
happens a lot in martham
Been following this series and its been super helpful, thanks! Do you know for the cable that goes from the throttle body and connects underneath the intake manifold, how close is your to actually touching the manifold? Im just after puting in the new harness but the cable is basically touching the manifold. Cant remember if it was like that originally
I’ll have to double check. It clips into the support bracket that hold the manifold. So obviously it’ll be close. But I don’t think it touches.
Gotta love it!
