Got stuck myself in this area lately on a RAV4 2005 (4 cyl sec. generation) when trying not only to change the water pump but also the serpentine belt tensioner assembly ( will refer to it as SBTA from now on). For removal and installation of the serpentine belt only: A 19mm standard socket on a breaker bar stuck on the top front nut ( looks like a 19mm nut but is casted part of the whole of the SBTA) works just fine. This allows moving the whole SBTA clock or anti-clockwise effortlessly with one hand. The other hand can then slip off and on the serpentine belt from the alternator, I found this is the area which seems to work best for both , removal and installation of the >>last bit << of the serpentine belt while the SBTA is decompressed. It is hugely important to turn the breaker bar SLOWLY as the movement compresses/decompresses the shock on the SBTA. I agree, the special socket is needed if you want to remove the genuine idler pulley from the plate ( the idler pulley on my OEM SBTA had a standard metric nut) On my job I found that the lower mount of the serpentine belt tensioner shock ( equal to a lower shock mount on the the rear axle ) was worn out badly ( all rubber gone). Since the SBTA is bolted onto the engine block with a very long bolt, is seems almost impossible to remove the SBTA from the block as the bolt hitches against the frame. Even removal of the right engine mount does not solve the problem. Seems as if one would have to lift the engine out of the bay by about 4inches to get the necessary clearance! As I found the SBTP idler pulley still ok, I managed to get by by just changing the shock on the SBA while leaving the SBTA in place. Had I had the special socket I would have left the SBTP in place and exchanged the idler pulley for a new one as well. My learning point is: It is probably perfectly fine to exchange the pulley and the shock on the SBTA and leave the mounting plate in place as long as the design of the new SBTA is identical to the genuine/ OEM. As others said, some videos are missleading!!!! Always best to get as much accurate info prior to starting the job and be prepared for challenges on the way. Rushing does not help either. ...and: new serpentine belt should be mounted together with a new idler pulley and tensioner. I have new battery; no click at start button. It had been working all day it did run out of gas right before it failed to start. And it was after I jerked the 4 wheeler hard pulling out posts right before it happened. Heeeelp😢
