Exploring the Northern Florida Adventure Trail: My Overlanding Experience
The Florida Adventure Trail (F.A.T.) is quickly becoming a must-do overlanding route for off-road enthusiasts across the country. Known for its mix of terrains, hidden campsites, and unforgettable views, the F.A.T. offers a true adventure for those looking to explore the Sunshine State’s more rugged side. Welcome back to Worship Wednesdays! This week, we’re singing Cody Carnes’ beautiful song, “Run To The Father.” This worship song captures the heart of the gospel-the invitation to come to God just as we are, with all of our burdens, our brokenness, and our need for healing. “Run To The Father” reflects the deep longing we all have for a place of safety and acceptance, and God is that place for ...

Awesome video as always KSawn. Worship Wednesday is such an incredible series keep up the amazing work Praising God through your music and singing about Gods ever lasting Love.
Shouldn’t have to go far once you get up here where I’m located.
We are hoping to find some this weekend. Either going to Sarahs Creek or Springer MTN
@ Sounds great, where would you be meeting up with other riders and what time?
Very informative for a new jeeper like me thank you for doing this video
You are very welcome. It’s always a pleasure to help out fellow jeepers.
I fish in the bay over by 331 bridge almost every weekend but didnt realize Port Washington was that cool, this weekend were driving down in the Jeep and explore. Great video 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you. It’s a really fun place to explore and I didn’t even film much of it. This was one of my early videos and I was still learning how to film / edit. I hope you like some of my newer videos.
@@RoadRashOffRoad So just got back from Point Washington, It was alot of fun. Well worth the drive over, stayed in there for a couple of hours after meeting 3 other Rubicons. Then headed over to Gramaldis for pizza 👌 I watched some other videos and next weekend going to head up to Buford Georgia to those trails... I will look out for your next videos 😎 Thanks
@@fishinjunkee1701 I knew you’d like it. My friend Jeepin Bubba has filmed a couple of videos in Port Washington and he has a shop in Buford GA. I live 15 min from Buford.
we made it thru,,, we've been blessed another year
I agree, 2024 was an amazing year, with my wife and I completing the Mid Atlantic BDR in November we now have our sights set on a few trails in 2025, and with a little luck we’ll stay healthy at our ages and be able to do so. Thanks my friend for all you gave us this year of 2024, and my 2025 be just as great if not better. Frank and Lisa, StandAloneAdventures 👍
Lock tite? No way, why not just install some nylon nuts instead...I see why they don't sell this system anymore drilling several holes in my roof.,, no way.
It is defiantly a "permanent solution". once you drill through the top and install this, it is there forever. however it is the only solution I have found that will hold 800+ lbs on the hardtop without installing some sort of "cage system" that hinders the normal removal of the hardtop in the summer. After I drilled and installed this, it works perfect. no leaks, no noises, etc. there is no reason to ever remove this roof rack.
Awesome video as always KSawn.
Whats the road noise like with these Kenda M/T tires?
On these original Kenda Klever M/T’s it is as you expected. A constant hum and is kind of loud. However I just installed their new, 2nd version Kenda Klever M/T2’s and these have a more aggressive look, more capable and are more quiet than my Nitto A/T’s. They are the best. ruclips.net/video/F4ktGEU2V64/видео.htmlsi=bBod_eBq6vC0qod-
Too much for you. Buy a street tire if you're concerned about road noise.
@@DanielThompson-rl4xm I love these Kendas Mt. I actually just bought their new 2nd generation MT2 and they are more aggressive than these and also more quite than AT’s. Best tire ever
Sitting here in a Florida downpour listening to you complaining about the dust. The reason.im inside is I just found my 270 has a gap right over the stove 😞 The stove then drains into the kitchen drawer 😞 which has no drain 😞 That part of the FAT looks like the middle of the Trans NJ Trail in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Oh man. That’s a bummer about the rain drainage. I bet it’s still beautiful there…. Even in the rain. I’ve never been on the Trans America up in NJ. That would be a pretty awesome place to explore.
Great video. Straight to details. Myself has a Nature Nest roof top tent. It looks great both of them together. Thanks, enjoy.
I have a Naturnest RTT also and I agree, they look great together
Awesome video KSwan and God bless you.
Phenomenal video!! I’m a Panama City local and didn’t know about that awesome trail!!
Thank you … I’m in that area in 30a often serving at church. If you want to hit some trails next time, I’m down
@@RoadRashOffRoadI’d love to! I’m about to be adding a coilover conversion to my duramax so I’d like take that on it but I also have 2 Jk Rubicons! I sent ya a DM
Awesome trip man!!! That camp spot on the river bank with the white sand was insane.
Thanks man. Yea, I can’t wait to get back to that spot again
Yes, when you regear 500 miles is the mark and then you have to change fluids. I'm sure we will get back up that way again. We love the N Georgia area. Keep those videos coming. Also let me know at some point you get back down to the FAT after the regear is complete.
We are headed that way in the morning and it should take us about 9 hrs from the Tampa Bay area. Would love to meet up with you out on the trail if you are going to be out. Let me know how to connect with you and we'll see if we can make it work.
Oh man…. I didn’t know you were going now. That’s awesome. You will likely run into road closures. This some mountain road close in the winter until beginning of March. I won’t be able to meet you this week. The Road Rash Jeep went into the shop on Monday to have it re-geared but because of the holidays, they were not working on it Wednesday or Thursday. I’m hoping to pick it up tomorrow. When I do, I am told that I need to baby it for about 500 miles and not do any off roading. You guys have a great time.
Love these videos and I'm trying to use OnX to map out a route but I am just getting started. Not new to off road by any stretch but most of what I have done is here in Florida. Any tips getting started. I run a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon on 35's so it should be capable to handle the Traverse from what I have seen. Brett.
Hey Brett…. The Georgia Traverse is a pretty easy route with tons of changing scenic views and great camping along the way. You can easily take the whole family or a group of friends…. Or just take it on by yourself. You’ll probably need a minimum of 4 days. Make sure you have a chainsaw. There are always trees down across the road. Some can easily be pulled out of the way with your winch but others will need to be cut. Let me know when you go. I am always in that area and would come up to take on parts of it with you.
I live in the area. It's always dusty unless it is raining. Because it is sand, in about 4 to 6 hours the sand is dry again in summer sun. In the winter in Northern FL it takes a little longer to dry.
Where did you find the Maps/routes for the GAT and FAT?
The FAT maps are found here : sunshinestateadvco.com And the GAT can be found here : sites.google.com/view/vman1313/thegat
Nice video!
Thank you Nathan. Where are you from?
@ North Florida. About 30 miles west of Jacksonville.
Thank you for this perfect timing Praise God...
Praise GOD. Merry Christmas
You need to realize those big wheel/ tires cause premature wear on so many components. Be ready for things to break and needing replaced..that's why my jeep has a simple front end level kit and 33" tires..sure I don't look as cool as your 37" ones but I'll go 150,000 200,000 without needing a tranny or steering components.
Yes. You are 100% right. Good thing I have already included a full upgraded front end suspension as well as re-gear, HD ball joints , axel shafts and welded truss. I’ll likely need to address something else but I’ll be ready for it. I do all of my own work on the jeep. It’s my fun project.
Been there done that with Klevers. Lasted 3 months before they went out of round. They look amazing though hope you have better luck than me!
Oh man. You’re the first I’ve heard that had issues. I bought my first Klever MT’s in 2020. I got 3.5 years and 70,000 miles out of them.
@ dude I heard nothing but amazing things about them too but there’s a few horror stories I saw of course after the fact. Unfortunately I was one of the unlucky ones.
What brand is the steps? I like it 👍

Hello my friend great video. Just a quick question where did you find your power drop step bars my jeep sits up pretty high and I'm having trouble getting in and out. Love the videos my friend adventure on my friend. Thanks for taking me along with.
Thank you James. The step rails I am using are from Real Truck. These here : realtruck.com/p/amp-research-power-step/v/jeep/wrangler-jk/2015/
Such a nice video! Man please share coordinates for that river spot haha
Thank you brother. Shoot me a DM… I’ll send it to you.
Is it possible to take a Kasier Jeep M35A2 through there? Sadly i dont know anywhere i can go have fun in this truck😢
Wow. That thing is a beast!!!! Not sure that thing will fit on many of the back trails. You would probably end up widening the trail 🫣
@RoadRashOffRoad lol 😆 I won't do it then. Any other areas you know that I might fit?
@@GUARDIAN6B you could do the Georgia traverse. It’s a four day trip and most of it is maintained forest roads. Some really great camping through Northern Georgia. Also, you could go to Cape Lookout in the Outer Banks and do some beach camping. I bet you that truck would be perfect for that.
Looks like fun... what table are you using?
I use 2 tables at camp. This Is the main table I use.... a.co/d/02Nis0A This is the table I use on the back of the Jeep .... a.co/d/7wNe3bF
You run into many hunters? That’s what’s stopping me from going in the winter months. Don’t want to disrupt them as much as possible. Cheers
I didn't run into any hunters at all... in fact, I don't think I saw anyone except in the campsite area I was staying in. I tread as lightly as possible, staying on the trails / roads and not tearing anything up. I try not to disrupt anybody.
I looked into the tires and for my size they are $417 each and they are not name brand tires. I thought that BFG tires were expensive, but I was wrong. My new WildFinder RTT arrives tomorrow and I am looking forward to installing it and testing it out.
Yea. The price has gone to. I remember my first set of 35” Kenda Klevers were $1000 delivered. That was 3 years ago. Now they are quite expensive. I know they are not name brand Nittos but I would take these tires over the name brand option all day. In fact I did… with my partnership with Anthem Off Road, they told me to “pick out which tires I wanted”. I had my choice of any name brand on the market. I wanted Kendas and I’m so glad I went with this MT2
I like the tread design of the new MT2. It looks a lot like the Mickey Thompson Baja All Terrains that I ran a on my JKR. These Kenda tires are about $100 - $150 more per tire. That $417 was for 33x 15’s.
Great video. FAT looks like a blast. Jeep looks great too, hope you were able to tighten the steering. I like ground tents…but I don’t know about them in Florida. No experience around gators. I do love camping in winter but I’ve never found a public place to camp that I was crazy about for winter (back in the day I had many private options in Forsyth Ga, but those are all gone now). I prefer dispersed camping, that spot you found by the river looks perfect.
Oh man. I can’t wait to go back and camp on that little river beach. I did tighten up the steering and rebalanced the wheels. Drives great more.
Awesome video my friend, and for my favorite winter camping spot it would have to be Hickey Gap in the Cohutta Wilderness or Three Forks just north of Suches Georgia.
Thank you. I’ll have to check out Three Forks. I’ve explored there a while ago but never camped there.
Looks great man! One question though, with the new wheels having a different offset than the factory wheels did you try the wheels without the wheel spacers?
I did....Here's my "hiccup". with my stock wheels on 35's, I had to put a 1.5" spacer on them to make the stock wheels work. When I got these new wheels with a -44 backspace, I was excited to take the wheel spacers off all together and run them straight on the rotor. the problem is that the back of the wheel is bigger round than the Jeep rotor and my calipers stick out past the rotors by about 1/8" which means the back of the wheel was rubbing on the calipers. It requires a wheel spacer. I looked at removing the 1.5" spacer and putting on a small 1/8" spacer but I don't think there will be enough thread for the lug nuts to tighten down properly loosing 1/8" of my post. The wheels do stick out and I am looking at options to bring them back in a bit.
Is that down in ocala. I did some pretty fun trail riding last weekend here in south ga.
no... this is not Ocala. This is closer up to the GA boarder... I think near the Black Water area. I really like Ocala though. some Great camping there.
Do you like to camp in the Winter? And if so, what's your favorite place to camp in the cold?
The southwest so Arizona and Utah are my favorites. The worst weather was about 6" of snow fall overnight while we slept in ground tents. Loved it...
@@toddhoffmaster6057oh man… that’s legit. I’ve never slept on that kind of winter before. That would be so awesome
Brother, how do I get that camping spot that you show in your video at approximately minute 27?
@@GXRIVERROAD4X4 you can visit my website, roadrashoffroad.com and shoot me a DM
Looks like a cool place to ride👍😁
It wasn’t difficult at all and there was so much to explore. It was a great place to camp
That’s awesome to hear RoadRash glad you got to enjoy and visit this area. 👍
Where was this. Looks like around my house down here in South Georgia. Great video!
I don't know how far south you are but this is just over the GA / FL boarder near Black River in FL
Sweet content 👍. I’ve really been debating between the RT and MT2. How loud are the MT2s on the road? And how’s the snow performance with them?
My first tires were Nitro Trail Grapplers A/T. They wore out pretty quickly but they were pretty standard off road tires (IMO). I installed the original Kenda Klever MT's in 2020. They were pretty loud and vibrated alot (like you would expect a MT tire), however I kept these tires on my Jeep for almost 4 years and 70,000 and never had a problem with them.... and I gave them HELL. So when it was time to get my next set of tires, I was determined to stay with Kenda Klever and try their MT2. By far, these are the BEST tires I have ever seen. Since they redesigned them, they are more quite than my Nitto Trail Grappler AT... I couldn't believe it even though the tread is much more aggressive. I haven't put them in snow yet. I don't get alot of snow down here in the south USA but I had them in mud, rocks and sugar sand and never had an issue. I would absolutely recommend these MT2 for a off roader.
@@RoadRashOffRoad thanks for the info 👍 I think I’ll try out the mt2s!
I really don’t think you will be disappointed. They are surprisingly quiet in my last set of Kinda Klever. MT’s lasted about 70,000 miles.
What does it mean when no code comes up on screen and it says done.
I don't understand... ive never seen that.
Awesome video! My daughter and I are planning to come explore Gulches in Feb of 25 in our jeeps. Seeing some of what y’all went through makes me wish I still had my 88YJ. My gladiator has the turning radius of a battleship. What is the CB channel everyone uses at gulches or the boa fang channel? I have both and have t used either in a long time.
Man…. You are going to LOVE gulches. Awesome trails and has some good camping also. Obviously cold in Feb / March but I believe they have small one room cabins there if you want. I get the turning radius compared to the YJ. Your YJ would be AMAZING there. But you’ll still have a great time. We don’t have a specific radio channel for Gulches (or any park). We just find an open channel as a group that has the least chatter and use that one. The park may have a channel they pick for emergencies… I’m not sure. Have a great time….. and then put Windrock on your list. That one is by far my favorite park on the East Coast

48 minutes?
Oh boy… I didn’t even realize it was that long. It was a complete video including unboxing, install and testing / review
Such a beautiful set up! What’s roof rack are you using?
Thank you my friend. I’m using the Rhino Rack backbone system. In my opinion, the best roof rack. Check it out here ruclips.net/video/eKkPTkD-8e0/видео.htmlsi=IaBr2qI78yCagOZZ

Meeting for coffee sounds great my friend, just name the time and place that’s best for your schedule and I’ll be there.
Awesome video as always KSwan.
I’m gonna put liquid painter tape all over my freaking Jeep so I can hit this trail without scratching jack on my jeep…peels right off.
Great idea.... I would LOVE to see a video of that. that would be sick.
shoe bags fit across the back.
Thank you . I'll try it but I don't think it's going to work. The T Slot is the same all the way around the tent and the shoe bags are too small for the T Slots. Also, if they do fit on the back, putting them back there would be very inconvenient and I would not use them. On a jeep, the back window opens up. The shoe bag would not be able to hang down without hitting the window. also , if your ladder is on either side of the tent, you could not reach the shoe bag to put shoes in there. I'll try it anyway just to see if it fits.
