The success you will experience as a welder is a result of you driving your personal growth. When you don’t have the right growth plan for your welding career, you risk serious consequences:
Experience: Unless you are trained in real-world settings and scenarios, your ability to face challenges on the job becomes questionable.
Qualifications: Not having the right certifications regularly holds welders back from landing their dream job.
Abilities: When welders don’t have seasoned welders to mentor them, they lack the wisdom needed to supercharge their careers.

The Truth About Welding Certs - Must Watch!
Everyone has their own routine with night shift, I found keep you're self busy as it tends to make your shift go fast . Plus have your room as dark as possible to sleep in
Use to love 3rd shift. No political bs like day shift. I am a machinist/welder
Not a welder, but longtime Nightshift plant op. Nightshift Best Shift! Graveyards are always quiet.. No bossman's in your face.
Yep he’s right season welders can get it started both ways. And the truth is in very detailed understanding of welding knowing when you can tap and when you need to strike depending on different variations of the conditions. 👍
Community college is a better investiment. Go to cc, then get a mig production job or watever welding job, then move your way up welding job. While doing this apply to pipefitter, ironworker, sheetmetal, boilermaker apprenticeships.
Love this guys story very motivational!!!
Thanks guys really needed to see this trying to switch to something new.
Was wondering if you can tell me ptw-20 vs ptw-18 tig torch I'm trying to practice for this test and we have a ptw-20 i noticed every video I watch everyone use the jumbo tig torch that would be the ptw-18 from what I've researched can anyone give me some advice on
Ptw-18 all the way
@KentuckyWeldingInstitute i figured the the only thing my boss is old school and doesn't want to up grade guess I'll keep struggling because even my boss can't give me advice to get better its a long story but I've been practicing solo for this test and I feel like I'm getting close but still far away I've been welding since 2014 but pipe for me is a different animal before I give on welding I want to conquer pipe welding is there an email or say Instagram or TikTok i can send you guess some pictures or videos of my welds to see where I stand my company is beating around the bush so I'm just gonna keep practicing and most likely find another job i could use some help
Nice job ! Keep up the hard work ! 👍🏼💪🏼👊🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Well no shit
Make sure you study for the piss test
Awesome. Love seeing other people’s box setups. Gives me ideas for mine.
bro put that meter on your boot by the time that thing goes off your gonna be on the ground... just looking out for ya buddy
Swipe while holding down is the correct terminology. A strike is technically a tap.😊
Get a PAPR much less hassle and protects you much better than the crappy respirators that don't keep everything out no matter how good the fit is. Unless you wanna shave everyday and waste money on razors get a PAPR.
That's all fine and dandy, but in the real world inspection tools are not required 90% of the time on the job.
Correct, this video is for the individuals who are taking their CWI exam. You need all of this to test and take your CWI test.
@@KentuckyWeldingInstitute ....You do? Really? Wow as a CWI of 20 years, I didn't know that.
I came in 2nd place in Skills USA regionals Arizona in 2023 its all about time management and prep, blueprint reading is also very important especially in these competitions. I studied more before skills usa than any test ive taken in high school 😂
Exactly!
I’m practicing for this test- I’m not understanding how he’s not overheating. Doesn’t the wps have a max interpass temp? Welding continuously will pump this thing up to damn near 1000 degrees for me. Am I missing something?
Only if they say there is an inter-pass temp or checking it.
Go to Brownsville Texas and weld Starships together for SpaceX. Build the mission to Mars.
That looks like 30° if we're honest.
Sounds like socks are your issue bud
Sleep?
Yeah his in the matrix going in circles😂
Audio?
who knew, blue collar jobs having some degree of uncomfortable hehe
Talking with no explanation
I've had successes but it usually takes me long to achieve it than most people. I had to install a new front entrance door on our house. I had never done that before. I watched some guys on RUclips do it in 4 hours! Their video greatly helped, but it took me 4 days. These guys did it in 4 hours. I did have some detours that had to be addressed during the installation of the door. I installed all new millwork and it was beautiful when finished, BUT 4 days? I guess I'm getting slower in my old age. I'm 65 and trying to learn MIG welding aluminum and TIG welding Stainless but it is a learning curve. I taught myself machining so I guess I will learn these welding skills as well. Sometimes I ask myself "Why are you bothering learning new skills at 65?" But Hey! I'm having fun! God Bless You and be the best you can be at your trade. Strive to be better than your peers! Take Care!😁
Failure is the best teacher. After every mistake, I like to tell myself that it’s okay. Just keep trying. If you started a week ago, you’ll be a lot better 3 months later than you were today.
Great Video! Very encouraging 👍👍
Always be humble
😮 UNION ONLY 😮
Now when you do a reapet, can you tap the plate to take the slag off of the electrode do should i chip it off with a hammer
Tbh that’s what I do but just take the rod off the clamp so you don’t end up sticking it or striking it but you can use a file too
He’s 14 and has 53 years of weld testing
A welder can take more than 1 weld test throughout an individuals welding career.
@ Yeah, I’ve taken five or six a dozen of them .
Lame ash I guarantee I could do triple the amount of work waaaay more efficient then 2 workers who don’t smoke weed
Remember, weld tests do not transfer to your next job. Welders must test for each job. Also, if you're taking multiple tests (carbon to carbon, stainless to carbon etc.) if you fail one you must take two more tests and pass both or you're gone.
Exactly!
Does that setup come with the top mini back cap ?
When u order that did it come with the top back cap ?
What country is the school?
Wish i went here 😢
Those who can't right. You don't survive in the field bud
Is 106 your IQ?
Did you not read what you wrote before you sent it? 😂
If you don't know then you got soft hands bud. Those who can't, teach.
@@Llm106 your mommy loves my soft sparky hands 😂
I been teaching my buddy how to weld & one of the things i told him, I said " you don't wanna watch the weld you wanna watch the puddle " he's learning
Can’t get a co-signer or a loan to afford the place if you don’t have a job 😂😂 So you have to have bills in the real world
The truth: there IS no Welder shortage and I am tired of hearing it.
Correction, there is a good welder shortage. There’s plenty of of welders out there there’s tons of them, but only 1/8 are good 😉
@KentuckyWeldingInstitute But you see: that's the issue. Companies are becoming increasingly picky and, apparently, incapable of apprenticing and training future Welders past Trade School. Why are they not doing these things and then COMPLAIN that their field is a "dying field"? If it really were a "dying field," then it would do everything in its power to preserve itself instead of locking people out (but I guess that's all my fault).
@KentuckyWeldingInstitute Do you seriously think locking people out of your trade who have the potential to be good Welders is really "saving the Welding Industry"? Do you really think shipping Welding jobs out to 'Nam & China just to save a few measly dollars is really worth the pain it causes Domestically? Seriously, ponder it.
@@KentuckyWeldingInstitute There is no welder shortage in Ba Sing Se.
Was ther man saw yall
Yep, I worked at a manufacturing facility where the welders did welding, pipe fitting, and were proficient in general mechanical work. Those guys earned every penny they made
YESSSS I GOT ONE OF THOSE. THANK YALL SO MUCH FOR BEING THERE
🤡 bring you knee pads is his next piece of advice to you.
Got tons more
sir you might tail lights
shoot i’m money hungry bring it on😂
