Cuando se esta desarrollando puede haber errores. No veo porque publicar un resultado previo a su revisión por pares, si esa información puede estar mal
Además es un problema porque la idea entre científicos es quien pública primero cierto descubrimiento, si un periodista lo hace público, rápidamente puede encontrar otro equipo esta noticia, replicarlo, y si tiene más recursos (que suele ser el principal problema para el desarrollo de la ciencia, el financiamiento de cierta investigación científica) se llevan la primicia a nivel académico. Y ahí va el Nobel para el segundo equipo, que pudo desarrollar la misma investigación más rápido y con más recursos, mientras el primer equipo de investigadores quedarán de nuevo en el anonimato y sin tantos recursos.
