Durango and Silverton | Alcos at Hermosa | Quick Clips
May 29-31, 2023 I had the opportunity for film three separate duos of power on the Durango and Silverton's iconic Silverton Train. In the midst of this I was able to get a shot of the diesel-powered Silverton Train using Alco DL-535s 101 & 103. I will have more videos from my trip out west coming soon, so stay tuned! And if you did enjoy a subscribe and comment are always appreciated!

Grand Canyon Railway | F40s at the South Rim
Просмотров 94Месяц назад
June 1st through 3rd, 2023 I had the opportunity to film the Grand Canyon Railway and their various motive power. This footage is from the first two days, in which the power for the daily train was EMD F40FH diesels 237 & 4124. Getting footage of the diesels wasn't our intent for our stay at the South Rim, and so this video gets the Quick Clips badge. I will have a separate video coming soon wi...

May 29-31, 2023 I had the opportunity for film three separate duos of power on the Durango and Silverton's iconic Silverton Train. We start on the 30th with D&S K-28 473 and K-36 482. The 31st we see K-28 476 leading 473 again. Lastly, a brief look at 473 and K-37 493 returning from Silverton on the 29th. Unfortunately a portion of this footage has blown out audio. I've done all I can to make t...

Cumbres & Toltec Opening Season Charters | D&RGW 315 & D&RG 168
Просмотров 4477 месяцев назад
The weekend of May 27 & 28, 2023 was the official opening to the Cumbres & Toltec's operating season. The railroad started the season with limited trips out of both Antonito and Chama. This video focuses on the "charter" trips out of Antonito with C-18 2-8-0 315 and T-12 4-6-0 168. These trips departed Antonito and climbed towards Osier before returning. We would only follow these trips as far ...

On May 28th of 2023 I had the chance to chase and ride the Cumbres and Toltec's "Cumbres Express" service between Chama, NM and Cumbres, CO. Thanks to the very kind crew of the 484 I was able to place 2 GoPros on the locomotive. This video is the full, uncut footage from the time I started the recordings until the batteries died. Unfortunately they didn't make it to the top of the pass, but it ...

Thanks to the very kind crew of the 484 I was able to place 2 GoPros on the locomotive. You may notice some audio from 484 over the footage of 488. This is due to me still getting used to what was a new camera and microphone, leading to very noticea...
The Georgetown Loop Railroad | Steam in the Sky
Просмотров 5709 месяцев назад
In May of 2023 I went on a 2 week long trip throughout Colorado filming the various narrow gauge railroads that operate steam. Our first stop is the Georgetown Loop RR, in between Georgetown and Silver Plume, CO. Although this line is fairly short, the steep grade and impressive bridge make this tourist line a must see. They were operating 2-8-0 locomotive 40, a staple of the original Georgetow...
Amtrak California Zephyr at Moffat Tunnel | Quick Clips

Shortly after climbing Big Ten Curve (my previous video) we follow Amtrak 5 the California Zephyr as it enters Colorado's Moffat Tunnel. The Moffat Tunnel sits at 6.2 miles in length, making it a marvel of engineering and one of the longest railroad tunnels in the U.S. I'm finally moving along in the editing process from the Colorado trip of 2023 so be on the lookout for future videos!
Amtrak's California Zephyr Climbs Big Ten Curve | Drone Footage

While in Colorado in May of 2023 I was able to shoot Amtrak 5, the California Zephyr, leaving the outskirts of Denver, CO up the famous Big Ten Curve. This was a prime opportunity for my drone and I was able to film the train at this spot for over ten minutes! It was very neat seeing the train climb such a steep grade in so little time. So sit back and enjoy! As always a subscribe and comment a...
Sounds of Southern Railway Ps-4s Return to Tennessee
Просмотров 41411 месяцев назад
In May of 2023 the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum was approached with the idea of using a Southern Ps-4 whistle on the 4501 for one weekend. It worked out that I was able to film the train throughout Saturday to capture this rarity. Some of the footage is not up to my standard, shaky and overexposed, not to mention blown out audio. I was just getting used to my XA20 and Rode mic. I do hope yo...

March 4, 2023 was the start of steam operations at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum for the year. I was able to capture the locomotive throughout the day at various spots. Unfortunately this would be the first time my new video camera and microphone would be used with a steam locomotive, and the audio leaves some to be desired. I hope you enjoy anyways, and a subscribe always goes towards m...

In December of 2022 I went to Knoxville to see Three Rivers Rambler's Southern 2-8-0 154. I wanted to get as much footage as I could over the railroad as 154 is running low on flu time, so sit back and enjoy the video! And if you did a sub is always appreciated!
KCS Monroe Local Crosses the Ouachita River | Drone Footage

After seeing the KCS Holiday Express stop in Calhoun, LA we traveled over to Monroe, LA where the train would spend the night before traveling on in the morning. KCS Holiday Express 2022 | F Units at Speed!

In November of 2022 I had the opportunity to tag along a couple friends on a painstakingly long night drive to Shreveport, LA to see some of the last KCS operated trains. More important though was the last "Holiday Express" run under KCS ownership with the pending (now in affect) CPKC merger. Rumors were being spread that the KCS OCS consist would soon be sold off, so I knew I couldn't miss the...

Consolidation Productions Channel Trailer (2021)
I have a real southern railroad spike from West Virginia it has T HC on top it’s from 1950
484 has 486's 5 chime
Woah a Freer upload so close to the last one? In this economy?
Interesting take on Shalona Lake and I liked 2:58
6:50 Southern 4501 sounded like 4014, 3985 and 844.
What a gorgeous video y0u have produced of this magnificent Superliner "hotel on wheels" climbing the front range of the rockies !! It makes me proud of Amtrak and You for this unique video !!!
I love it wow
Hello, I work for the editorial team at TF1, a french TV channel. We are working on a story on the United States that takes place along the California Zephyr. We would like to use your video published on RUclips. Can we broadcast your video on our channel? Best Regards, Antoine
I apologize for the late response. If you would still like to use the video, that would be fine with me.
I really like that whistle. They should put it back on 4501 for longer so more people can hear it in action.
It is owned privately and this was a one time event. It will not be back on the engine any time soon.
@@consolidationproductionsI didn’t specifically mean this one, just any Ps-4 3 chime whistle. Even a Rizzoli Ps-4 replica like the one they had on 1702 would work.
Didn’t realize there was both a D&RG and. D&RGW. Enjoyed seeing the D&RGW Diesel Locomotives up in Colorado’s Coal Creek Canyon back in the 1970’s. 👍🙏
That Scene Comming around Curve and Mountains ⛰ Is a Post Card Scene 👌
I wish you could have Gotten Closer With The Drone 😊
How long did it take for the Moffat Tunnel’s tunnel door and ventilation system to start up and clear out the exhaust fumes from Amtrak California Zephyr #5? And did you get that on video?
The fans started up maybe about a minute after the train entered the tunnel. I didn’t film anything after the Amtrak. We were traveling to Alamosa and the tunnel was just a quick stop. Not sure on how long it take for the fumes.
That was the first hill I saw since Pittsburgh when I took Amtrak from outside Philadelphia to Emeryville CA. What an excellent trip in January!!
Outstanding video! That was a fun 'fly-along. Thanks.
The Amtrak train consists of 2 genesis locomotives, baggage car, trasition sleeper, two sleepers car, diner car, observation car and two coaches on this train. Am i right? Awesome cool drone video of Amtrak California zephyr passenger train.
Maybe next time you might try for the Rocky Mountaineer through that area too. Great video thanks
Next time won’t be for a while! I live a close 18 hours away from Denver.
@@consolidationproductions sorry to hear that!! lol
Talk about switchbacks! The drone camera gives a beautiful panorama of the area. Much appreciated.
A BEAUTIFUL shot. Great work, and thanks for sharing. I was over in the US last July, tracing railroad history. By total chance I saw the Zephyr pass through Grand Junction, and as I woke up in my hotel in Denver I saw it there in the station, so rushed down to see it leave. I'll ride it next visit. Thanks! Simon
Great job...There's a lot of horn blowing between Chicago and Sacramento...( I had a roomette on the second car from the baggage car. ) 👍😁
Very cool..Where is this?
Just outside Denver, CO
Drone views are fantastic! Dubbed sound because we would hear the drone's motors? Have they removed the old hopper cars acting as wind/snow barriers? Hope that you also vidrone tornadoes and lightning storms. 8:50 That be you? Wanted to see when the mee-mool lights *(o)T(o)* activated. 9:50 I believe a "straight line" derailment happened there.
The drone doesn’t record an audio track, only video. The hoppers are still there around the curve. That’s not me at the crossing. I was set up in the field closer to the road near the signals and detector out of frame.
The Beast. Ran into folks yesterday going to Visit the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis, MO, which is Home to one (1) of the five (5) remaining Big Boys. 👍🙏
Stunningly beautiful scenery & video. Thanks for sharing! Can't imagine what % grades those were, the last one was a doozy!
In 1982, I moved from Alabama to California to go to college. My Grandmother treated me to a train ride with a sleeper, meals in the dining car and the whole bit. But in order to go through the Rockies I had to go from Birmingham, Alabama to New Orleans, Louisiana, spend the night in a hotel, then switch trains to Chicago, Illinois, then switch trains again to San Francisco, California. However, when we arrived in Denver, Colorado Amtrak informed us that there had been a fire in a tunnel, and that the route through the Rockies was blocked and we were re-routed to Cheyenne, Wyoming, then to San Francisco. So much for the best part of the trip going through the Colorado Rockies. In the end though, the trip wasn't that bad. I had my own room, with a good view of the north side of the tracks, but sadly I could not see any sunsets due to the time of the year (early spring) as the sun was shining on the other side of the train. I had to go up to the Sightseer Lounge and then I could see both sides pretty well. What irritated me was Amtrak knew about the tunnel fire long before anyone said anything about it. As I was getting off the train in Oakland (you have to take a bus to get all the way to SF...) I started talking to the Porter who was helping me with my gear. I mentioned not getting to go through the Rockies because of the tunnel fire, and he said that was a lie. There was a fire, but it had been six months before my grandmother paid big bucks for the ticket. They had added $130 to the ticket price for the train from New Orleans to Chicago so I could get on a train that did not go where they said it would. The Porter gave me a phone number to call and file a complaint and demand that extra money back. When I arrived at my final destination, I called my Grandmother and told her what they did, and gave her the phone number I got from the Porter. Once I got settled, found an apartment and got a phone, I called her and she said she got a 100% refund for the ticket price. She had bought the ticket from a travel agent, a licensed contractor for Amtrak, who knew what he was selling her. After she got the refund, she went back to the travel agents office in Birmingham and gave him a little pep talk on being honest. _If you know what I mean..._ :)
Great job and video thanks for your sharing ronrdzl
Thank you for the nice video. Years ago I was sitting in this train, but what kind of animals (3) did you get on the beginning of the film, a bit under the the train, mounting up to it?
Fantastic!!
Is this east or west of Denver?
West.
Great video!
Thanks for the Strong 💪 Efforts with making and posting this Video. Thanks! 👍🙏
Great video. Was that you standing by the car at the grade crossing?
I was actually over in the field out of frame closer to the signals. I had originally only planned to film around the horseshoe but found out the drone could go further. Glad you enjoyed!
@@consolidationproductions The slowdown at 11:08. Posing for a photo op?
That was fantastic! I have filmed trains there at the crossing by the Fire Department many times. I got #6 descending a few years ago. They are on You tube. Coal Creek there is one of my favorite places on earth!
Here is #6 in 2020 coming down out of Tunnel #1. ruclips.net/video/PcCSiKsW-tI/видео.htmlsi=f--64FflitULitLM
Here is an uphill freight. I caught the same units in Cheyenne a couple days later.

Got stuck sitting for hours on that curve in 2021 with Amtrak’s most arrogant conductor, just trying to justify kicking a passenger off the train by pushing her buttons.
Sounds like a fun time…
I bet you’re fun travel with
Great video! It's almost like watching a model train from that view. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic video, I'd love to get to ride this if the opportunity allows, think I need to research some flights across the pond & plan a trip
A great video, thank you for satisfying my curiosity having watched VR's cam for many months wondering what the rest of the area and line looked like out of their camera shot. Great job, subscribed
Neat catch. I assume this is equipment from 101st Airborne possibly the HQ & HQ Company or 101st Division Sustainment Brigade returning from Europe. Seems a bit early for the DSB equipment to return but its possible.
Awesome vid Matthew!
Nice
enjoyed watching the train and your piloting skills. I would not have thought it was possible to catch so many miles at one spot with a drone.
good night-thank you! really insane job. 💪
In a weird way, that Ps-4 whistle almost sounded like a V8 motor when it was blasted at full steam.
In my opinion, this Ps-4 whistle sounds way better than the V&SW 3 chime that was placed on 4501!
Ahhhh the blown out whistle!!!!
It’s not really the whistle that’s blown out, but the equipment used to record it.
