Apparently on the first game they were still fresh to video game dubbing and decided to use accents, but as the franchise grew they decided to ditch them for the remake & sequels, and being the dubbing studio, they ultimately had to respect the Japanese' wishes.

* The "toys" do have lore! The original author made model railway layouts of locations in Thomas that he would take to events, and one of them was of a railway we barely see in the books or show. The models all present on the layout are canon, however, and thus are treated as characters the same as everyone else.

* Can confirm "representation" is for characters mentioned in the official lore book written in 1987 (yes, Thomas has an entire book for the lore of its original book series) - they're characters intended to be included by the author but never were, and thus are only mentioned in the lore book, so have had fan recreations of what they would have looked like had they existed.

* Okay so to immediately clear something up, the books (RWS - Railway Series) and show (TVS - Television Series) are very distinctly different canons. Any differentiations in characters (like Bill, Ben and Diesel's ownership) are noted on the character pages as a result

Hi, TTTE nerd here. The "toys" you called while you were reading at the "Mid Sodor Raiway" section is canon to *NOT* the TV series, but the book series "The Railway Series (RWS)" that the TV series was inspired by. These models were made by the late Reverend Wilbert Awdry, the creator for RWS, the models are preserved on the Tallylln Railway in Wales along with his other models and layouts. And "The Mainland" is how the UK is presented in the universe, as Sodor and the UK are separated (But Sodor is still a part of the UK). Usually, a character will represent UK by calling it "The Mainland" (or sometimes being called "The Other Railway"

Television-wise, this series has had some..........not very good changes done to it over the last few years, but it makes me happy you posted this video just after the 40th Anniversary of the show. While the first season may have aired in 1984, the book series Thomas is based off, The Railway Series, was first published in 1945, and will be celebrating its 80th Anniversary next year. And Thomas wasn't even in the first book! The first three characters introduced were Edward, Gordon, and Henry. Thomas would show up in the second book, published in 1946. Thomas is the Pikachu of this series - not the first, not the biggest, not the strongest, but the one with the most marketable personality and name. An Anglican preacher named Wilbert Awdry wrote The Railway Series, and he was a stickler for accuracy - all the locomotives in his books were based off real life ones, and the incidents that occurred in them were incidents that could or did occur in real life. He loved getting letters from children who adored his series, but he once said that his absolute favorite letters he ever received were from actual railroad workers who read these books to their children, and would be like "Oh my gosh, our train did the exact same thing the other day". He even wrote an additional book that covered the lore of all the engines and the island they lived on. Thank you for posting this Comfy; you've made my week.
