Wish you did a video on what it takes from the girlfriend/wife and especially kids. I love being a firefighter but it's hard leaving the kids. I made it a rule, kiss them and get a hug if they are home and dad's got to go... no matter the call! Sometimes they have to run, fast :)

When I see a fire truck going by I give them a 👍 and a wave. I always keep the first responders in my prayers and hope that they go home to their family and friends. I believe that fireman, policemen and EMTS are unsong heroes of this time. You wouldn't see a garbage man going in to a burning house to save someone now would you? Only a fireman would and does every single day. When I see firemen I thank them and who knows that fireman that I thanked might be the one who saves me if something was to go wrong. I'm apart of the Avis volunteer I can't go on calls yet but soon I will be and my soon to be wife is worried about me even though I can't go on calls but she knows it's in my blood and it's going to happen. I can't wait til I go on my first fire call

People who have never touched our boots are quick to say "if you cry because of your job, then you shouldn't have it, cause you can't handle it" but when I ask them to sign up for a ride along, they go back home the day after their ride along and change their minds, they cry themselves to sleep and finally understand. To all of my brothers and sisters in bunker gear, in a blue/black uniform or in camo and overseas or on a base, I love you all, keep doing great things and try to stay safe, I hate seeing another one of us are gone

i did this for 5 years, and im gonna do it again, im current national guard making 197/month, im 3rd gen military and 4th gen ff, i love the idea of helping those who need it, and regardless of the people who would turn up their nose at my soot covered face and dinge of smoke coming off my clothes, i pray every day that those who do that never have to see the things ive seen, consoling a mother whose son passed in the fire, holding a man whose wife died because someone was drunk, the smell of what used to be human, now burnt beyond recognition because we couldnt get there fast enough, i may not have been there for some of the more extreme things thank god, but i have seen a bit. I would gladly lay my life down for someone i dont know without pay or reward, because its what has to be done, regardless of their background, that is one less life cut short needlessly, nobody deserves that fate

This vedio Is very true I have been a firefighter since I was 16 and am 21 I have Had some of my own family members and my fieance ask me why I do want to do the job I do my response was it's a question that can not be easily awnserd but we don't do this job for us we do it for them I don't run into a burning building at 1 or run a car wreck at 3 am we do it for them When I signed up to do this job I didn't it because i wanted to help people it's 90 precent to help people and like 30 bc of its who I am not just what I do and 5 precent for the adrilan rush it's not an easy job but I love I will be a firefighter til the day I die

Damn I didn't realize how bad I miss it........ spent 23 years doing just this..... retired 5 years ago. I miss those long nights... being woken up at 1 am. Reloading trucks...washing hoses..... fueling back up. The smell of diesel as the doors are going up. How the lights will BLIND you in the fog...... That federal Q waking EVERYONE when you go by. I miss it terrible.......
