In 2022 EDF sent me a letter promising me that after one year of not using gas, they would stop charging me a standing charge, today is 13-May-2024, EDF still sending me bills for standing charge, means their promise from 2022 is a joke, they are like mafia, once they catch you never allow to be free, forcing paying for you rest of life! I am not using gas forover two years

It’s crazy they are simply grabbing back any losses that home based solar and wind are causing without adding any investment whatsoever . Absolute extortion. They have also started turning off smart meters in elderly folks homes and Not acknowledging receipt of cheque payments . There needs to be a public enquiry.

I as a 62 year old veteran and used to drive 22 miles every month round trip to do all my shopping at asda….after experiencing how this company pushes Islamic radicalism….I now do ALL my purchases online, and I do pay more, but I will NOT support satanic criminal organisations like this EVER again…..I am ONLY for humans!!!

You really should make sure your wheels aren't binding and of course adjust the mechanism in between brake shoes first,then adjust cable checking for binding as you go.

We were fed up of seeing this charge every day so we contacted So Energy to disconnect the gas and remove meter. We were told that it was going to cost £150 minimum, to save £110 per year standing charge we would have to pay £150!

Great video, just adjusted the handbrake. The bit size you need is a T20 to remove the screws and a 13mm ring spanner. Remember to bed the brake shoes in first before adjusting. Raise one wheel off the floor to make sure they are not binding. Thanks for the video.

that is a common garden spider they are harmless i have held tons of them when i was a kid you can find them in most gardens in the uk you are wrong and should stop as people will kill them thinking that it is one it is a uk spider and a beautiful one at that

I just checked my standing weekly charge on my pre payment electric meter and it's £4.49 a week, that's 65 p per day which is more than I use in electric coz work thru day 6 days a week, were getting robbed blind by these energy providers,utter disgrace I say 🫣

i bought two mattresses from ikea, one £700(king size, hybrid, pretty much top of their range), the other £100(single, value range). found the cheaper much more comfortable. will buy it from now on and replace it every few years. i would never expect a mattress to last 25 years. i also dont trust any guarantees due to small print, whatever happens its always consumers fault

I don’t pay CT I’ve never paid it . I have had the threats the letters and the debt collectors, who are now After the money because your councils have already sold your supposed CT. The liability letter arrives it goes straight into my shredder. The summons is illegal because I have never gone into contract with my council. I was never told any details regarding CT either. I have never attended a court either because this is known as a kangaroo court. By invitation only so again you don’t have to attend. Also your CT will not go onto your credit file either, the reason for this one is because you never entered into a contract with your council or signed your name on one. Your credit file will only show contractual items such as loans, mobile phone. When you buy goods in a supermarket you are entering into a contract at the tills and you will pay for your goods.

I agree, there are some poor surveyors out there, who will charge bottom price for a survey. However, I would consider myself as a competent surveyor who will carry out a detailed surveyor. You are correct, generally, we do not lift floors, however if we suspect there is an issue with the sub-floor or if there are loose carpets floorboards I would lift them to investigate further. I would also carry out a detailed survey of the roof space. As a surveyor it is our role to advise you on potential issues what are visible or where obvious signs suggest there may be issues within a concealed area, which would require further investigation. Please do not stereotype all surveyors.

Just phoned EDF and was informed I had a credit of £3,296!!!! I told them taking £663 was a lot for a couple in 4 bedroom house per month …would have been £7,900 a year!! They should monitor this more as we are pensioners

Sleekitwan, I had my gas meter capped by my landlord back in 2011. Within the last two years my landlord fitted a combi-boiler hence I needed the gas reconnected. Over that period the gas meter accumulated over £1100 in standing charges. I contacted the supplier as I believed they were taking the royal piss. They made a slight adjustment of minus a £100. I applied to the charitable arm connected to my supplier who agreed to wipe off £400. So, that would have left a balance of £600 give or take. I was dumbfounded by what happened next! My energy company, instead of clearing the award of £400 from the meter, added £400 debt to the meter! Bringing the balance to around £1400 & that is only the half of it! Definitely some of the worst & when I say worst; I mean, absolutely the most atrocious customer service I have ever experienced bar none. They also take 70% of my top ups for that debt & I am in the South.

I live as far south as you can get and my standing charge is about to change from 43.4p to 44.4p as of next month so will be £162 per year and thats more than doubled from last year. Your standing charge is ridiculous.

When you get your bills, cancel your DD, and set up a standing order. That way these companies can't alter the payments of a DD

Standing charge, another rip off scam. I activated my £5 emergency a couple of months ago. With it being summer and I use little gas the £5 has lasted until today. I actully forgot I had activated the emergency. The meter ran out and the gas cut off today. I realised I must of activated the emergeny a while ago so off to the shop I went. stuck £30 on the card. Came back home tried to top up my meter. It took the £30 but wouldn't switch back on. An engineer came out switched it back on but I'm back in the emergency and the meter says I owe £7.22 I believe it took back £5 for the emergency and £25 for standing charge. It wouldn't switch back on because I still owe £7.22. I'm paying around £32 standing charge for using £5 worth of gas. Absolute disgrace.

This scam is to punish you for not wasting energy to boost their profits.

I just got a bill of £124.14 for standing charge for gas meter - even though I never used any gas at all, had no gas appliances...Never got a monthly charge for it every time I paid my electric bill - had I have done I would have got them to disconnect it, so was a complete surprise to get that bill. Pure con, won't ever use British gas again because if this, the thieving f**s.
