WOW! Absolutely brilliant par excellence. This is the first time I have watched this ballet and it's blown me away. What a difference to the production of Aladdin by the National Ballet of Japan that I watch last night. Immediately the difference between exceptional trained dancers with this just leaps off the stage. No fancy gimmicks to cover inability, just pure technical flowing choreography from the outset. This is the David Bintley at his best and the BRB never disappoint. BRAVO!!!!👌

This is a masterful piece of balletic storytelling. The abstract styles of dance for dance's sake seem to me so sterile and unengaging, no matter how much pure dance aficionados will swoon over it. I always find dance as theatre thrilling, and this is an outstanding example of it. But hey...that's just me, I guess.

Pese a tantos años transcurridos desde que se realizó esta producción, continúa siendo un espectáculo magnífico.

I love this production of this old favourite. I like the alternative Dr Coppelius version as a suave and sophisticated gentleman, rather than the crazy bumbling old fool. I once saw a production where an alternative ending was offered and Dr Coppelius was left alone with Coppelia and had been substituted for a real person and so really did come to life. A happy ending for everyone.

I'm shocked, because I have loved Roland Petit, but I find this unwatchable. The music is so glorious, and his choreography is so unsuitable, the art inappropriate, the bare stage ugly.

The first scene is a kind of souvenirs Album of her great classic roles, Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, la Sylphide. With her long and hyper musical arms and hands she captures the essence and the deep dimension of the beautiful music that Roland Petit used for this collage. I think this is the best part of the ballet. Dominique Khalfouni was first of all a romantic ballerina.

What a delight to find this production again! I first came across it accidentally on an old VCR tape someone threw out. Then the tape was lost when I had to move house. The characters are wonderfully portrayed; The casting really makes the story easy to follow, even without dialogue.

My very favorite ballet. I really enjoyed this play on it. Entertaining and clever. My eternal question is always what does Dr Coppelius hope for? How is he blinded? Is he only interested in magic/creation; or is he in love? Does he think of the doll as his daughter-child or as his potential girl friend-Lover? Also, it is never clear how the townsfolk know he is a dollmaker. Does he have a business, a shop? Do locals know him , ( aside from going to the local bar, getting teased by the local teens)? Is he deeply, doddering OLD, or perhaps very young
