Triple Charter Action in London - 11/05/24
A day trip to London saw 3 mainline steam charters across Greater London.
In this video, we see:
- 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley working a Steam Dreams charter from London Euston to Chester.
- 35028 Clan Line working a Belmond British Pullman "The Golden Age of Steam" charter from London Victoria to Dover.
- 7029 Clun Castle working a Vintage Trains 60th Anniversary of "The Great Western" 1Z48 charter from Plymouth to London Paddington, then back to Birmingham Snow Hill.

61306 Mayflower leads a Steam Dreams charter train from Horsham to Bristol, running around 2 hours late throughout, due to over running engineering works. Seen here at Cosham, Romsey, and a water stop at Salisbury. Also included is a clip of D1015 Western Champion working The One Way Wizzo, which I forgot to upload last week.

Today marked 50 years since the first service in preservation at the Avon Valley Railway at Bitton, and to celebrate they were running some special services over an extended weekend period. 1919 Cranford was on a special set made up of a mark 1 and brake van, replicating the first train, running between Bitton and Oldland Common. 2 Shots, 2 Charters D345 hauls a charter through St Deny's, putting down everything it's got to gain speed onto the mainline. 34046 Braunton charges through a dark Andover with some serious speed and a nice long whistle.

A lovely day out in Weymouth ended with a trip to Upwey to see the 35018, a rare appearance in the south for the loco. It is hauling the annual End of Southern Steam charter, the return trip being Weymouth to London Waterloo. Also of note is the slight error where the camera falls, ah well.

Today I chased Gresley on one in a series of English Riviera Express trips. First we see the locomotive powering up Wellington bank, before skipping ahead to Broadsands, here we see both 4555 and 60007 working hard on their respective trains over the viaduct on the climb up to Chruston. A single shot of 7029 attacking Filton Bank, as seen from Narroway Hills Junction. Sadly the charter was on the slow lines, as you can see a GWR service over takes on the fasts, but the sound was certainly more than enough to make up for it.
