Join me on this journey back to the mid 1980's when Michael Eisner and the Walt Disney Company started working on a European version of Disneyland; Euro Disneyland.
Before its opening in 1992 and during its first years of operation, Euro Disney experienced controversy. It's lackluster performance during the early 90's were a direct effect of Disney's stupid approach. Still, there is much to be discovered and enjoyed about this park.

I had the privilege of visiting Neuschwanstein castle last year and I was completely blown away by the details, the story of King Ludwig II and the breathtaking views of the castle. I truly think Neuschwanstein castle is the most beautiful castle in the world. It was used as inspiration for the Disney Castles in the Disney parks.

Visited WDW back in 2012, and tried to find a souvenir key chain of the iconic Cinderella Castle. Nothing available, just a genric "Disney Parks" castle (that looked more like Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle). What a wasted opportunity on Disney's part.
I was just there. Rode it 3 times. Of course I sat where Michael used to sit in 1996. Still one of my favorite rides at Phantasialand.

Disney should’ve hired me to build that park. I’m not European, and I’ve never set foot on that continent, but my hundreds of hours on Roller Coaster Tycoon gotta count for something right?

It's such a shame the park started so poorly, would have been amazing to have a massive WDW-style resort in Europe. Hopefully that's still an option now the company seems to be investing more
I'd love to see more parks in Paris but I think that will take a while. Besides, I feel like Disney is slowly losing its creativity. Its the non-IP attractions that I really love. Just pure creativity and talent. If they were to build a new park today I'm not sure what it would turn out to be.
@QuinnSourMouth you're not wrong. I would have said if they ever do build a third gate in Paris it'll be similar to Animal Kingdom, but with Lion King going to Studios maybe a European version of EPCOT could be on the cards? As for original ideas, I think that ship has sailed. As nice as it would be, it's not marketable to the wider audience

The wave swinger flat ride usually travels to the Del Mar county Fair every summer. You can still see a part of Neverland history there.

Nice video. But the restaurant is clearly on the 2nd floor and not on the ground floor as stated. Interestingly, the ground floor in American buildings is called the 1st floor, and the floor above is called the 2nd floor, and so on. Keep up the good work.

I feel like if they brought Disney to Australia, making it more into a proper castle would be so cool. It’s a dream for so many to actually go overseas and experience castles, that having it fulfil that sort of experience would be cool imo.

I miss being able to actually walk through the castle and seeing all that amazing tile work, they now use as a staging area for shows that are kind of a disruption in the day. Some of them are kind of boring..

I was 12 or 13 when WDW opened, and just 90 minutes away. We always knew there were spaces in the upper floors, the restaurant opened pretty early on, but I ALWAYS wanted a basement tour/dark ride thing... It would have had to be built down in the utilidors...
I'm surprised that the outdoor condenser units are visible outside the restaurant windows. I would have thought they'd have done something more creative to hide them from the guests.
I’ve been up as far I can in the castle. After the kitchen the stairs get steep.

Nice to see inside the “Gastle”
The suite was actually built for the park's opening as an apartment for the Disney family, much like the one above the fire station in Disneyland. The family never used it, so I'm glad it found a second life as the dream suite. Wish they could make it possible for more people to stay there, not just the occasional celebrity.
this is blatantly wrong lol. 1) Walt was already dead and 2) the cinderella suite was created around 2005 💀💀
and it was previously used as a telephone operating room 😹💀
@@squidward_tortelllini I didn't say it was built for Walt. I said it was built for the Disney family, which it was. They never used it, so it was put to various uses (yes, as a telephone operating room) until finally it was redecorated and repackaged as the Cinderella Dream Suite. But the apartment has been there since the castle was built. Go look it up.
Wow, there's a blast from the past. The music at the end iof the video is the carousel music from the Roller Coaster Tycoon game.
In the documentaries that I have read and seen about this castle, they used materials in building it where it could withstand hurricane conditions due to the geographic location of the park. Thank you for showing this. It made my day.

My dad worked at Disney in the 90’s so all what’s at the tip of the tower is a zip line for Tinker Belle to go down.

Better to save your money to go to see real castles such as Neuschwanstein in Bavaria or Chambourg in the Loire rather a tasteless representation.
I did actually visit Neuschwanstein castle. Maybe I'll make a video about it.

The ladder in the spire is how Tinker Bell gets up to the platform where she flies during the nighttime fireworks show.
When I worked there in 2008, it was a small Chinese man who would be stunt Tink.

When I went there the first year the park opened, my Grandfather asked a cast member what the space above the restaurant was used for. The cast member told my family it was used "for storage". I thought that was a waste of space. But realize now that the upper level is much smaller than it appears.
I wish the castle was something that you could actually walk through and get a tour of. Kinda like spaceship earth. I feel like it’s kinda a waste to have a tiny suite that’s unused 95% of the time. It would be really cool if you could actually walk through Cinderella’s castle

You can in Disneyland Paris, they have a beautiful exhibit telling the story of Cinderella in there, with hand-woven tapestry and stained glass windows. At the end of the tour you can step out on the balcony overlooking the courtyard. There used to be a Black Cauldron walkthrough at Tokyo Disney, located in the spot where the Restaurant is in WDW and there is a Princess’s walkthrough at Shanghai Disneyland. The space of the Cinderella Suite was originally intended for Walt Disney‘s apartment but was never finished. Apparently, for a while it was used as the switchboard for the resort. Also, the CM playing Tinker Bell climbs the tower for Tink‘s flight during the fireworks.

The OG Disneyland California has this. It has stairs inside though, but it's pretty cool
