A Study in Drowning is on my TBR! It sounds so good. I love your vibe counter! 😂
Hahaha as someone who writes for a living, it’s only mildly embarrassing how appalling my vocabulary is 🙈
@@searchingforsamantha Haha well as someone else who says "vibe" a lot, I love it! 😂
YES I LOVED WE SPREAD !!!! sadly dnf’d a study in drowning :’( hope you have better luck!!! malice house sounds so good!!! I want to pick up haunted ever after!!! I WANT TO READ THE PUMPKIN SPICE CAFE SOOO BAD i went to barnes and noble and they were sold out :( I have you, again on my tbr for this season!!! good luck with your tbr!!!!
Sounds like we’ll be doing a lot of buddy reading!! Let me know how you get on with them.
A Study in Drowning and Pumpkin Spice Cafe are on my TBR too :) I'll have to check these others out.
Oooh you’ll have to let me know what you think! I’ve started A Study in Drowning this morning!
I really enjoyed When Among Crows as well!! I also started You've Got Chain Mail. I think my Kindle is dying though, because it keeps skipping chunks of pages and sometimes when I open it there are weird symbols instead of words. 😳 It's done that on a couple books now. So.....I had to pause You've Got Chain Mail (although I'm really enjoying it so far!!) until I can get that figured out. 😂
Oh no!!! Hope it’s not something wrong with the book 🙈 hope you enjoy the story!!
@@searchingforsamantha I think it's just my Kindle, as it's done it on a couple books now! I just have to get that sorted 😂
Phew 😅
I loved When Among Crows too!
So good, isn’t it!!
wow
Uh… thanks? 😅
Enjoyed the video. As a published author, working on his second project, I could agree more with your comments and in fact a few of your suggestions are things I am going to try.
So glad you found it useful!!
Thoroughly enjoyed your suggestions. As an author myself, I could not agree more. And some of your suggestions seem incredibly interesting. Thanks.
how has this not blown up? the transitions are seriously on point!! 😲
Thank you!!! You don’t wanna see how many takes it took 😅
Those transitions were sick.
Thank you 🙏
YES YES YES , YES TO EVERYTHING! ❤💖😍
They’re all so good, aren’t they!!
@searchingforsamantha medieval and fantasy nerdy romances just hit differently in my little heart! ✨️❤️
Ahhh then you should definitely check out You’ve Got Chain Mail!
@@searchingforsamantha ohh I will, once I have raised enough money and once I am sure it is available in Greece! 🤩
I unintentionally have been doing all of that (aside from connecting with other writers- Introvert here) and honestly, I cannot stress enough how important an outline is. I was a pantser before and as soon as I started to actually plan things (I use the snowflake method, if anyone’s heard of it) the quality of my work skyrocketed so much that I facepalmed myself for why I did not do that earlier. 😂
The snowflake method is great! I find it works really well alongside other outline methods that are more specific about the story beats that need to be hit. And well done for hitting all of these - some are more intuitive than others, so you’re doing great!
Awesome!!!
Congrats on the sponsorship!!!! Love the recomendations!!!
Thank you!!
congrats big sis i only subbed recently i am so happy for you 💝
Thank you!! 🙏
Doing a reading sounds like a nightmare. You did a great job though!
Thank you!! It was so nerve wracking 😭
I was lucky to have a teacher in high school who forced us to learn to outline. I hated it, and never used outlines in college. I wrote huge science papers without outlining, so I figured I could do the same when writing a novel later on. 4 started-but-never-finished novels later, I decided to try outlining my current wip and, lo and behold, I'm now working on my second draft. 🙌🏼
It really is so useful!!
Trope Recommendations: Bad Buddy (Thai TV show) - Enemies to lovers/rivals to lovers, Forbidden love/forbidden romance, Forced proximity, and possibly Childhood sweethearts although only one sided. ---- Two neighbors whose families hate each other meet up again in college when their friend groups get into a fight. Scum Villain Self Saving System (Novel) - Miscommunication trope -----An anti-fan wakes up as the villain in the novel he was reading before he died. Because the original was a Harem novel, he just wants to be his well respected teacher instead of getting killed by the MC like the original story. What's Wrong with Secretary Kim - Workplace romance (Webcomic/Korean TV Show) --- The CEO proposes to his Secretary after she gives her two weeks notice in an attempt to keep her working for him.
Ooh, I haven’t heard of any of these before! Thanks for the recommendations 🙏
This is such helpful and practical advice. Also Reedsy's course sounds fantastic! I can't do this next one but I see there's another starting end of October that I might try to join. Question about social media...do you think that it matters the specific form of social media? I've seen people say Instagram is the only way to go and others say Instagram isn't all that great for authors. One of the reasons I started my BookTube was to start creating an online presence for myself and my writing, but I've been debating Instagram as well.
I think every kind of social CAN sell books, but you have to go ALL IN if you’re going to move the needle, so it’s important to choose one you like. I like RUclips and TikTok, so that’s what I focus on!
@@searchingforsamantha Thanks! I appreciate your info and perspective!
That's so interesting! And encouraging to see that it's possible to write a whole book per year with a full time job and other hobbies!
It’s not easy, but it’s definitely possible! Glad you found this helpful 😁
Happy belated birthday! I read When Among Crows last month. It took me a bit to get into it as well but then I ended up enjoying it. It stresses me out having so many books out from the library too!! And I say that as I currently have 5 from the library and 5 more ready for me to pick up. 😳 I got You've Got Chain Mail on my Kindle! Can't wait to dive in! (Probably after I finish some of these library books 🤣 )
Ahhhh hope you enjoy the book!! And that you’re able to bust your TBR queue a bit 😅
Thank you for this!!! So helpful
Got an updated version coming soon!!
I did my first attempt of a yearlong book buying ban this year. On January 1, I started the ban. On January 6, I purchased a book lmao
Hahahaha I’ve totally been there! This was definitely not my first attempt.
I love this. Please do more videos like this. ❤
If you know of any other festivals that want me, I’d be happy to 😂
Ahh, congrats on your new release! ❤🥰
Thanks Malayka 🫶 can’t wait for you to get your copy! Hope it arrives soon 🤞
Congrats on the sponsorship! This was so cool to watch!
Thank you!!! 🙏
As we say in Greece, may it has good travels ❤🎉 (καλοτάξιδο!) meaning may it be bought by many people from different places on earth - may it travel to every book loving corner of the earth!
Ahhhh thank you 🙏 🥰
Well done!! Subscribed and on the journey with you 🎉❤
Thank you 🥹
How do you find a writing group? I'm struggling with that
I’ve got a whole video with all my tips! Linked in the description 😁
@@searchingforsamantha Thank you!
Getting on social media from the jump is soooo true! 👏🏾 Nearly all of the indie authors I follow tend to show screenshots of the rank or sales whenever a post or video goes viral online 👌🏽 Not only does it sell books, but just sharing snippets of your world, characters and writing style draws people in. That's one of the reasons I started my socials this year! 🥰 I'm still struggling to build my writing habit, but these tips are great as usual! ❤
It used to be that social media didn’t really sell books, but that’s massively shifted the last few years!! And well done on everything you’re doing ❤️
My favorite book is 'Silent Patient' by alex michaelides !.. Just enjoyed this book a lot 🤌
Writer here! I 100 percent agree witg these tips
❤️❤️❤️
This was really helpful! Another habit I would add to this list is doing some sort of brain draining/dumping exercise before you start working. This could be Julia Cameron's "Morning Pages" or 15 minutes of stream of consciousness journaling. I find that this really helps me clear my head and get more alert (I typically start writing at 4:30 am 😅)
Omg 4:30 am 🙈 I can hardly imagine that 😂 but yes, I’ve heard morning pages are great!! Maybe my adhd brain should give it a try 😂
@searchingforsamantha I work the 7am-3pm shift of a very physically demanding job (10-15 miles of walking a day) so I need to get my writing done before work or I'm too tired to focus after. It does mean I get a lot of time for my hobbies though
That makes perfect sense! Glad you were able to come up with a routine that works for you, as unpalatable to the average person as it may be 😅
How do you actually find writing groups and friends online??
I’ve actually got a whole video about finding writing groups! ❤️
The Argonauts is fantastic. I’m actually due for a reread of that one.
I just picked it up this morning!
Appreciate the level of detail. And the pie charts😀
Even when they didn’t match what I was saying? 🙈😂 haha thank you!
Thanks for the book suggestions!! ❤
❤️❤️❤️
Dungeons and Drama sounds awesome. I'm going to have to pick up your book if it's D&D related.
It is!! Links are in the description 😁❤️
This is so cool and insightful!
So glad you found it helpful!!
I need to pick up that new Krystal Sutherland book. Love the different books!
Ooooh buddy read 👀 lemme know what you think!
Writing-related videos get me in the mood. But they also distract me. It's a tough balance.
Same! It’s a fine balance between using it as a way of procrastinating and using it for inspiration.
Ik this is a pretty old video but I’ve gotta say how much I love using storygraph! I love seeing all the charts and graphs of my reading habits and the .5 star ratings. I also really like the tons of reading challenges and that you can make your own and even track buddy reads :) Goodreads in my opinion needs to update and have more features it gets boring for me
I’m actually doing a revised version of this video with some new contenders!
I clicked that thumbs up button on your content. Can't wait to see your next video from you. Really cool upload, Searching for Samantha. Sustain the wonderful work.
Thank you!

Favorite book of the year so far is Binding 13🫶🏼
My fav book this year was either “As good as dead” or “the song of Achilles” ❤ one shocked me and the other made me suffer 😅
Both of those were good for such different reasons 😂 I loved Song of Achilles! I liked As Good As Dead but it felt like 2 different books and I didn’t fully understand why the second half was necessary 🥴 though the ending had me kicking my feet!
I am in love with the off campus and brair u series, i love everything elle kennedy writes❤
Hey lovely! You're one of my winners!! Could you email samanthaparksauthor@gmail.com and I'll give you instructions for how to claim the bundle?
My favorite book of the year for now is Happy Place, but thats also a very hard question😂 I loved multiple books Ive read this year, like Powerless, The fortress and the figurine, The Housemaid, etc.❤
