Documenting our "FIRST TREKK" to ROCK CUT STATE PARK, Illinois last JUNE 14, 2020 FIRST DAY activities included a hike, whole afternoon fishing and camping overnight SECOND DAY we just lounged around camp and did an afternoon of Kayaking (while fishing)! Yes, you pay for parking. But they do have different rates at different times and depending if you're a Chicago resident or not
Need live bait there. Medium to small minnows with slip bob. Caught 15 in crappie. Stripped bass in there as well
Ponds are okay in spring before the weeds get bad. I've coughs a few bass in the creek but it's pretty low in summer. Just stick o the deeper holes.
There are fish in that creek.
I've gone back a few times and fished up an down it. Been meaning to bring my GoPro with next time I go. Just been swamped with work :/

@@firsttrekk3364 It was very nice! Was shocked to realize that I had never been to the largest state park in Northern Illinois. Got there yesterday about 2 pm. It was spur of the moment. Camped right on Pierce Lake. Someone had graced me with a huge pile of firewood, so I set up and cooked by a nice fire. Completely dark by 5:00pm. I had a nice spot and had a great time. Got down to about 36 degrees with no wind. Tried to fish a little, but no luck. But you can't go by me, I suck at fishing! Thanks again!
