As far as I can tell, this is one of the surprisingly few leitmotifs in the series that persists through multiple arcs at least. With as expansive as Trails is I would've liked a lot more iconic motifs. Cold Steel has a couple between it's games, but even in those games each one only has a couple tracks it's used in. I'd have to relisten to the Crossbell OSTs but I can't think of any that connect the 2 games except "Get Over The Barrier" and "A Barrier to Get Over". I know the a Liberl motif plays when Estelle and Joshua appear one time but that's all I can recall. Idk maybe Zelda spoiled me with basically everything being a leitmotif but I think it can be chocked up to the very fluid sound team and how it's not always the same people working on every game.

Other motifs i've noticed are in the final boss theme in cs 1 you can here the opening theme, and in EOV you can hear the class 7 theme (or the title theme from cs1)

Aye. After finishing Kuro 2 i must say: Some cutscenes in Kuro 2 were superior vs Kuro 1 and more fun. Sadly the story bec. of 1 feature was (for me) not as good as Kuro 1. But still..Kuro 2 is a good game. Cannot wait till ~ 2025 when we can play Kai no Kiseki with a fanpatch x)

Wow. I'm currently on CS4 and keep hearing how Kuro has good fight cutscenes and it turns out to be true. Their new engine truly is awesome. Man, I wish the Cold Steel games had fight scenes like these.

I liked thinking it is more or less the Imperial Family's leitmotif. Played in their ship(s), the capital city, as well as things relating to said city, but I realized it played in more themes in this video.

oh, just found another example of this in "Betting the Fate of the World" from CS4. The melody starting at 1:58 might not sound like a direct quote of the theme (and it isn't, it's a fairly distant variation over the same harmony) but if you listen closely to the last section before it loops (2:28), there is a synth playing a pretty exact statement of the leitmotif as a countermelody, just with slightly different rhythm (this version is actually closest to the statement found in Phantasmal Blaze: both are in 4/4, have similar rhythm and are even in the same key) It's pretty insane how well this theme is integrated into the soundtrack

I absolutely adore these OSTs for how they integrate and evolve their main motifs. It seems like we have 3 distinct sub themes here, that evolved from the original idea: 1) the original, which is heard in The Final Choice, 2) the melody in the Heimdallr theme, and 3) the Spiral of Erebos variation, which is almost a new melody written around the same harmony and melodic structure And then they're blended in tracks like Crimson Flash Shadow, where it's a combo of 1) and 2) with hints of 3).

Paimon speculation aside, i just realize that Paimon's VA here is actually kinda cute and pretty.
