I've tried doing the carnivore diet to try to lose weight only to discover that everything on the menu is high in calories and it was very easy to go over daily energy expenditure. Adding in vegetables and some fruit was definitely the way to go.

Watching how the fat melted away day after day was very surprising, I just did what I was talking about and within the first 14 days or so I was visibly defined, I just go'ogled Baker Henistole and after 30 days I actually developed strong pecs for the first time in my life lol!

The average calorie intake required to maintain weight for an adult male is 2000. This decreases with age and increases depending on how active you are. You can use free online calculators that take age and physical activity level into account. Whatever number you start with - do not remove more than 500 kcal from it. It might work in the short run to go as low as 1200 kcal, but it's not healthy, potentially dangerous and not sustainable / you will relapse. Being active and getting enough sleep (8 hours minimum) is important to minimise muscle loss. Cut out refined carbs, refined and added sugars and fats. Protein can, fiber and enough vegetables will make you less hungry / keep you feeling fuller for longer f or the same amount of food / same number of kcal (calories). Diet drinks can make you feel more hungry, same thing for eating carbohydrates (carbs). You don't have to count calories. It's the simplest way but not practical for everyone. Healthy habits - type of food, portion sizes, exercise - are more important than pushing through with sheer will. Give yourself one day a week where you eat at your maintenance. If you are eating to deal with negative emotions, stress or other problems in your life then you need to adress those or you risk gaining that weight again.

How do I find my calorie deficit?
Just try to eat less than your typical portions. When you find calorie deficit it feels like light hunger.

why is staying in a calorie deficit so easy on paper but difficult to apply? any tips on self control and building a good relationship with food?
literally everyone knows this. the reason why diets get talked about is because they are how you eat at a calorie deficit in hopes to remain sated. such as hitting your calorie deficit while eating nothing but cake, means you will likely be eating so little mass of food that you will be starving all day every day. But with fresh meat and vegetables you'll likely be less hungry at the same calorie amount.
I went from 26st to 23st but now I'm doing weights and exercise I've not lost weight on the scales but I can tell on my body and going from 4xl to a 2xl I have protein powder and creatin x lost 1st in a month x
Keto isn't a fad diet. 100 years ago we didn't have all the processed foods that exist today. Obesity wasn't off the rails out of control nor was diabetes, heart disease, metabolic syndrome. Do your GD homework before commenting on something that clearly YOU know nothing about....CLEARLY!

It's true that it doesn't effect weight, but it can effect other things such as cholesterol. It's been shown that eating high fat/cholesterol breakfast helps you better process fats throughout the day.
