You Are for Loving - Liza Minnelli
Просмотров 33 тыс.14 лет назад
A young Liza Minnelli singing "You Are for Loving" on the Judy Garland Show, ep 3 Sorry that the beginning is blacked out! I didn't notice that happened until after uploading. :( Video starts about 9 seconds in
For a small second I thought there was born another genius that could bend music, rhythm, lyrics and tempo like Billy Holiday, I was right.
I love Jazz, every part of it! I lived a couple of blocks away from Louis Armstrong when I was young. I knew then it was special!
She's the best.
Bells are for ringing Bouquets are for bringing Hopes are for clinging to Wheels of fortune are for spinning And games are for winning Tunes are for humming Guitars are for strumming Dreams are for coming true And you are for loving And loving and loving By someone just as wonderful as you And so, I guess, I'll never do
I love when she roughly runs her hand thru her hair when she sings “but fools will be fools and where’s he gone to?” It fits. The line is like she’s driving herself crazy wondering about him and tearing her hair out yearning. Then at the end of the song how she seems almost shy because of the vulnerability she just poured out in front of all those people. She was a master man!
My jam. Anita!!!
10 seconds into this song and the goosebumps start..loving this
through all the trials and tribulations, Anita O'Day was a great jazz singer in my eyes.
The best rendition ever….:: 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Jazz has been appreciated by thousands and thousands of people, that appreciate jazz.
🤣
Sing it Anita O Day!!!
Shows she’s not just about belting or emoting: phrasing that builds dramatically, telling a story of ups and downs.
We love you, Judy! We miss you, darling!
White gloves............ Of course!!!!
Everything is perfection--that voice, the inflections, the emotive expressions, the intimacy! Masterful showmanship!
Right on! At the top of her game.
Right on!
Recognize Anita O'Day, for the supreme singer she was.

THERE IS SUCH A FEELING OF REALNESS AUTHENTICITY ITS NOT 1 A COMPUTER FIXING ALL THE FLAWS. I HEARD JYDY DID MOST SCENES IN 1 TAKE. HER LITTLE OLE BODY JUST COULDN'T HANDLE ALL THOSE UP & DOWN 0ILLS WRACK YOUR BODY. SHE WEnt cold turkey off of pills WITH NO INTERVENTION MEDICAL HELP THE DRS DON'T WHAT YOU DOING TJAT YPU COULD GET A HEART ATTACK ESPECIALLY AROUND HER AGE. SHE SO SMALL PETITE BODY & DRIVING DRIVING PUSH PUSH PUSH ON MORTALITY TOOK ITS TOLL. RIP JUDY YOU ARE MISSED!IF 6OU WERE ALIVE YOU'D SHOW EVERYONE THE ROPES BECAUSE SHES A LEGEND
TORCH
Class, barry, her best, edinburgh!x
This was Marilyn Monroe's favorite song
Love Anita. Always.
😭
This version is beyond excellent🎶! She was having such a difficult time at this time too, allegedly because of production issues. This great lady and her talent were so used and abused. Thank goodness for this celluloid history to keep a little bit of her close to our ears and hearts I love you, Judy: forever in our hearts…❤
At the true top of her game. As some previous comments have mentioned, this surpasses even the film version. Maybe nine years of life experiences… Incomparable.
So wonderful. She floors you every time. Sinatra once said " They will forget us all.........except Judy"
That Sinatra "quote" changes around a lot on these boards, but it's pretty silly. The last person in the world who'd think he'd be forgotten was Frank, of the large ego.
@@akrenwinkle The actual quote by Sinatra is ‘she will have a mystic survival. she was the greatest. the rest of us will be forgotten, but never judy.’
@@deannoble673 If you ever want to know if a quote is authentic and accurate, find out where, when, and to whom it was said. If you can't, it's fake. Also, when a quote seems to make no sense, it's likely made up. I could post today on different sites a "quote" by Mickey Rooney: "I didn't want to make love to Ava Gardner, but someone put me up to it." It would be spread, and by year's end, it would be accepted as truth.
@@akrenwinkle It's a widely used quote and as Sinatra was known for being generous to performers he admired. There is no reason to doubt it's authenticity. Generous to another person. Maybe you could give that a try sometime.
@@deannoble673 It's not about me, toddler. The alleged quote is usually, "We'll all be forgotten... not Judy." This is another clue, when words are switched around, that it's fake. Why not admit that the quote warms your little heart, and you care not a bit whether it's true or not... or, for that matter, whether anything you've been told on chat boards is true or not, as long as you like it?
Jazz legend.
This is what's known as talent. Taylor Swift please take note.
Fab, keep ur boyonzie, real deal !😂😢
素晴らしい映像。神。トランペットは伏見哲夫さん、ドラムは猪俣猛さんではないか。ピアノとベースは誰でしょうか。
She is a great Entertainer one of my favorites. Her daughter Liza Minnelli is just like her mom!
She made it her life nothing else mattered by the music.
Even better than advertised. Best 5 minutes of music on RUclips.
Impeccable phrasing and timing. She is absolutely one of my idols. My Mother and l both jazz singers.
Yeah she has got - it. Her singing at Newport a few years earlier is so crazy good.
Judy can sure belt out a tune and she makes it look so effortless
she just took me there
That moment at 2:24 where she moves in to sing only to him after belting to the audience....how did he not just collapse? Incredible performance!
This woman had complete control of every element of this performance. Talk about Girl Power! Anita had it in droves!
Sounds like a circa 1959 new york club scene..Hot and Jazzy
See where jasmine guy got her looks From.
Damn she even topped her screen version! BOTH are masterpieces of singing though!
AWESOMENESS!!!
This woman is beyond fantastic. She infused jazz and her singing with such a crisp and unerring beauty. She was an acutely knowledgeable musician, her work with tempo and beat has never been matched, and never will be. May all the gods bless you and keep you Ms. O'Day.
No one interpreted songs like her. Singer extraordinaire...
